  1. Great job tooting your own horn regarding your test results, way to be humble. I don't remember claiming to be smarter than anyone. I said "surely you can grasp this" because you haven't yet shown that you do, so I'll keep it simple. It has already been disproven that college accolades alone, even from the SEC, indicate professional success. The arguments from the skeptics on the other hand are based upon very logical concerns gleaned from observation. If you think all Kelly talked about was some elusive "ideal throwing motion," please, read the post. There were multiple legitimate concerns brought up. Your college-accolade-based argument has been rendered useless by a long list of names that included Erik Ainge. If you can't make an argument that doesn't use college accolades as a crutch, you have no data, empirical or otherwise. You have nothing suggesting Tebow isn't another Erik Ainge or Danny Wuerfel, a college hero doomed for professional failure. There is a reason Andrew Luck is considered perhaps the best quarterback prospect in a decade or two, and it is not statistics. Other quarterbacks have produced better stats. It's because he has been OBSERVED to have the combination of physical tools and mental acumen to succeed at the higher level. You need to show not that Tebow (a less accurate passer than Luck) was great in college, which everyone accepts, but why it will translate to the next level. Otherwise you're failing to seperate him from past NFL busts.
  2. Friend, NO ONE is saying Tebow's strong college stats support the notion that he won't be successful. They're saying that it doesn't matter. Surely you can grasp this. Kelly earlier made an intriguing argument that had nothing to do with statistics. Being 100% on the fence on this issue, I'd love to hear an equally-as-compelling argument from the pro-Tebow camp that doesn't make extended use of college accolades. What is it exactly that makes you so sure his game will translate?
  3. Hah I was just reading that post, impressed by how correct you were. To think many of us, myself included, were appalled at the Evans deal
  4. It's all about if we'll have the money to re-sign more important players. Fitz, Freddy, SJ, George Wilson, perhaps Bell (depending on Hairston's development), with Wood and Levitre on the horizon. If we can give Lloyd $6M/year and keep these players I'm all for it, I do think on the field he helps us quite a bit. I just don't know if it's a deal that fits Nix' plan.
  5. It would be a good fit in a football sense as we need a #2 to line up on the outside, who has the versatility to both go over the middle and to go deep. The economics, however, make me think this will not happen. Just doesn't make sense for us to give up a 3rd rounder for a 30-year-old WR on the final year of his deal when we have so many contracts we already need to re-do. I don't think there's enough money to go around to give Lloyd a new deal, and the asking price is too high to bring him in as a 1-year rental. Makes a lot of sense for Washington, they lack playmakers.
  6. Seriously, How long did it take you to come up with that one?
  7. Careful, this thread title could draw the "don't look past this week or the players will read your mind and lose because of it" crowd.
  8. If only someone had posted this earlier
  9. You're seriously gonna turn on the guy for that? Show some loyalty.
  10. McKelvin is a half-decent dimeback/4th CB. If he is any higher than that on your depth chart, I consider your CB depth troublesome. Corner I'm not sure belongs on a roster at all, although that was a tremendous reaction on his part. When the ball was tipped into the air he actually had his back turned to it. He put his head back and picked up the ball behind him, then turned 180 degrees before laying out and getting full extension to make the pick just before the ball hit the ground. Impressive reactionary/athletic play from a poor cover corner.
  11. If you look at the 10-15 players that went after Spiller on draft day, there aren't a ton of legitimate candidates for the Bills at 9. I wish we had gone with Jason Pierre-Paul, but I dont remember anyone at the time having him tabbed as a top-10 prospect. The way the top 8 shook out left our options limited. This likely takes away any chance of a trade-down, and makes it easier to understand their gambling on the upside of Spiller to become a Chris Johnson or a Jamaal Charles. I don't believe Spiller will ever live up to those lofty expectations coming out of college. With that said, my answer to the thread title is yes; the kid's improvement seems obvious to me. His sense for where to go and how quickly to go there is immeasurably better. He probably won't do us much good while Captain Jackson is performing as one of the top halfbacks in the league, but he can be a useful player.
  12. Neither Jim Kelly nor Roger Goodell seem to think there's much chance at all of the Bills leaving Buffalo. Be at peace, Bills nation. This team is staying right where it is.
  13. couldn't agree more, Rico. I read someone this week call him the best player on our defense so far-- pure lunacy. We lost NOTHING with 90 out of the lineup.
  14. Troup is also out. Kelsay will be replaced by a rotation depending on personnel groups. This from buffalobills.com, I'd link it but from my phone I can only get on the mobile site.
  15. Not by a long shot, it's Nick Barnett. The two tackles have also been more impressive. Kelsay still gets caught inside, and generally has disappeared on runs to his side. Most of his pass rushes still go wide around the quarterback. I'll give him this, he's been significantly better than last year's debacle, but this team needs help at OLB more than anywhere else.
  16. When you sit through 11 seasons without a postseason, you win the right to say "we."
  17. Gailey looks like a hell of a hire.
  18. He's been beaten cleanly plenty of times this year.
  19. Peyton Manning's spectacular line got crappy in a hurry once Manning wasn't around to make them look good.
  20. Williams played every bit as well as Dareus in the first three games. Didn't have his best game against Cincy. The first three weeks though K-Weezy got penetration against the run and did a good job of moving down the line laterally in pursuit several times. He must be one of the best 300-pounders in the league at the latter. If we could do a better job of setting the edge we would have a strong run defense, and both stud DTs would get more opportunity to make plays on the ballcarrier. Merriman has been alright in this regard, but Kelsay continues to disappear on running plays outside that go his way. In my opinion Barnett and Davis are solid in the middle but OLB and Leodis McKelvin are the problems with the defense right now.
  21. You are not allowed to hit anyone hard anymore, ever. Even if they have the ball (just ask Jairus Byrd).
  22. My thought as well. I'd love to see Merriman or Kelsay rip off 3 sacks with a backup lineman getting the start, yet somehow I'm not expecting it...
  23. Hairston has held up well at every opportunity-- late in the preseason, the 4th quarter against KC, and again yesterday. I do hope that Urbik is back, he seems better than Rinehart.
