  1. I will submit this to you: if we go on a winning streak, does not prove that player personnel might not have been as big a problem as was previously thought, diminishing our need for draft picks?
  2. two points: as far as Lynch goes, the proof is in the pudding. As far as Marv goes, see Lynch line above.
  3. Sully is a typical modern media jackass - doesn't do his homework, too much opinion not enough fact, ratings first. Can't blame him 100% though; his style gets readers, and that's all the bosses care about.
  4. I just don't see any top names wanting to come here, even if it's just for the money, because of the way ownership meddles in the affairs of the team - it's a breeding ground for toxicity. Listening to former GM's, Ralph is the kind of boss you hate to work for, and word spreads fast in a small community like NFL ownership and coaching. People like Shanahan or Cowher don't need this place, and don't need the headache that is Ralph Wilson.
  5. Hmmmm, these guys left Buffalo became successful. Maybe they were not ready to be head coaches, or maybe they don't have an old man meddling in their business...
  6. I'm not the type of guy to believe in superstition or "the unexplained", but I really believe that Marty Schottenheimer will bring this team a Super Bowl victory (after a couple of years of rebuilding). I have no real reasoning to back this up, just a hunch that he and our beloved team are due. He has history here, and I can't think of anybody who yearns for, has been so close they can taste it, or deserves a Super Bowl victory more than we do, other than Marty. Maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part, but if we win a Super Bowl under Marty Schottenheimer, that's proof that there is justice in the world.
  7. Spot on man. Some of us need to enroll in logic 101. Personally, I think you "scream" at everybody, you're one-dimensional. One-dimensional approaches do not work, in the NFL or in life. I enjoyed watching Mike Singletary as much as the next guy in the 80s, but numbers don't lie. In Ryan's case, he has a rookie QB making rookie mistakes. This is costing him games.
  8. I always got the feeling California QBs liked to stuff their mouths with wiener. Sanchez must have been craving the wiener.
  9. What a refreshing post. Someone actually took the time to look at objective criteria and made a conclusion based on that criteria. Wish there was more of it. Too many posts like "It seems like Fitz throws more deep balls" or "I feel like we're doing a lot better with Fitz". Not enough follow through. Jesus, I might as well say "I feel like we play better when I pay a psychic gypsy to bless my bills cap, and I put it on when we need a first down". Nonsense. The problem is, people are lazy or dumb. If we had to discuss issues based on facts, there would only be 5 posters left.
  10. People put way too much stock in head coaches. Fisher is the perfect counter to the "we need a head coach" theory. Last year the Titans were the bomb-diggity. This year, not only are they bottom feeders, but the players have given up, and apparently so has Fisher. How is this possible? Fisher is a great coach? Bull. A coach can only do so much. PS - I don't know about you, but I don't want a clown who wears opposing jerseys to feel like a winner nowhere near this team.
  11. Maybe my eyes deceive me, but he went nowhere on a lot of runs, and it only took one guy to tackle him on a lot of others.
  12. I agree, the consequences are not steep enough. 1 year suspension, without pay. Let him stock shelves at the supermarket or deliver mail for an entire year, to give him enough time to think about why he would lay out a guy on a fair catch, and to make other guys really think twice.
  13. I'm saying some can't tell the forest from the trees around here. We made our opponents defend the entire field tonight. The line looked a lot better than they have all season. We sustained drives and held the ball for 40 minutes. We rested the defense, and they made a lot of plays. What was the difference? Well, ditching the no huddle helped, but just as important was taking shots down the field and making the opponents play honest D instead of stacking up on us.
  14. They're far away from great, but there are a lot less posts about how much they blow with Fitz under center.
  15. I really do think he should retire for his own health. He's a nice guy, and can truthfully say "I was a decent NFL QB for a while". The hits seem to have taken a toll on him, and he isn't the same player he was a while ago. Whether he's gotten timid, or the concussions have effected his decision making abilities, we don't know. It's up to the doctors and Trent.
  16. I'd agree, except Edwards has built a reputation for a reason. Did you happen to see the slants and balls over 10 yards thrown today? Fitz isn't a pro-bowler by any means, but the guy aired it out longer than we have seen in a long time. Our wideouts were more involved, we susatined drives, held the ball for 40 minutes, and the Jets felt threatened midrange and deep. He just gives us a better chance to win right now.
  17. Actually, as I look at the stats, I notice we held the ball almost 40 minutes. This means we were able to sustain more drives, and gave the defense time to rest. Is it a coincidence that we get 6 pics and hold them to 96 yards in the air?
  18. TOP = about 40 minutes. Our D was better rested, and made 5 pics today.
  19. numbers don't lie, and they were puny. Maybe him and Fitz can fix it with a week's worth of practice.
  20. Lot of dropped balls that could have made much more of a difference (TO). We ran slants, and had a more effective running attack. The guy is straight off the bench, and no doubt rusty. The D was on the field a lot less, and made great plays. Oh yeah, and we won. We're a better team with Fitz, period.
  21. I think he gave up on being a factor in this offense a while ago - looking ahead to next season (and team). Besides physically, he's just flat rusty.
  22. I like to think we do. He looked HOF bound tonight. Just too early to tell at this point.
  23. I can't figure out whether we won by spreading their D a little bit more and making defensive plays, or Sanchez was really, really horrible.
