  1. How can you call these solid picks?? Spiller is a great talent but they didn't need to use the 9th pick on a RB. For the next 2 picks, I'll use the NFL.com rating system. Troup was given a 5.3. How can you justify taking him when Cody, with a rating of 8.0, who some had as early as the end of the 1st was still there???? There were 5 other DTs with much better grades taken after Troup. Carrington: how can you take a DE (grade of 7.3) when you need an OT and Campbell with an 8.0 grade is still there. WR is even a bigger need than DE and Dezmon Briscoe, Mike Williams and Mardy Gilyard still havent been taken?
  2. Only 1 of the 3 biggest needs for this team are addressed in 3 rounds. I just can't put a positive spin on it.
  3. What has he done to deserve this trust??
  4. Because they're in love with D.Bell. What a dream I had!! Jauron was fired and Brandon was no longer involved in the draft. Woke up just as they picked Troup. Can he play DB??
  5. If you mean trading Maybin, Wood, McKelvin & Lynch, I'm not sure that would be enough. Pathetic isn't it??
  6. So, is it an NFL Rule that NFL teams must run a "pro-style offense"? With all of these QBs putting up gaudy numbers in a college spread offense, why do the NFL teams try to put a square peg in a round hole and attempt to convert the kid to their "pro style offense"? What's stopping them from running a spread offense like Gailey did in KC with Thigpen?? Alex Smith was taken with the #1 pick in 2005 by the Niners after an impressive statistical career at Utah in a spread offense. Their attempts to get him to play in the "pro-style offense" failed and he seemed a bust. It wasn't til this past season when his 4th offensive coordinator in 4 years (which obviously didn't help) put him in a spread offense in which he developed a rapport with Michael Crabtree, another product of a spread offense. The Niners pass offense improved significantly. Sure, Smith still didn't play to a Pro Bowl level but at least he was much more productive.
  7. I'm warming to the Clausen pick. Up to now, one of the few in the media that was in his corner was Kiper. While I view what Kiper says as more relevant than most people, I just can't help to remember him blasting the Colts for taking Trev Alberts over Trent Dilfer. He turned out to be right about Alberts, whose career was cut short by injuries but he didn't show much when he did play. Kiper was also wrong on Dilfer, however. He also thought Shuler was going to be a great QB. Now I see that Jon Gruden & especially Jaworski are in Clausen's corner. If you've ever seen a segment where Jaws breaks down film, he really knows what he's talking about regarding the QB position. I would be very happy if the Bills end up with Clausen.
  8. I'd like to be able to review what these draft "experts" picked/said before prior drafts to get an idea if anyone of them is right more than the others.
  9. I felt the same way when Jason Peters was staying out and nobody could get in contact with him or his agent. One of the Bills' players (don't remember who) said he had talked to Peters but they didn't talk about the holdout and that was between Peters & the Bills management. A team leader should have been telling him to get his butt in camp.
  10. Exactly. There could be a rumor that the Bills are discussing a trade for Peyton Manning or Drew Brees or Aaron Rodgers, etc. and there would still be a number of detractors. Life on an internet forum.
  11. OK Where is all of this Nix history come from?? He's never been a GM. He was a scout. Unless you were in the San Diego war room when they made their picks, there's no way to know what involvement Nix had in the Chargers' picks.
  12. Now Erik Flowers was definitely a reach as nobody else had him projected as a 1st rounder. That being said, even if he was projected as a 2nd or 3rd rounder, he was a bust based on his lack of productivity.
  13. And there is WAY too much emphasis put on measurables when the key item is "Can the guy make plays!!!"" I don't think Gallery's problems are due to his arms being one inch shorter than the average LT. Geez. We're not talking boxing here.
  14. And you know this because...??
  15. No, D'wan Edwards had a neck injury in '08 but played all of '09.
  16. You're right on. That's why I say no to Clausen since he has question marks. Too many 1st round QBs are busts. I don't think it's worth the risk.
  17. I can't find an article I previously read which showed average arm lengths among the NFL LTs and Bulaga's arms were only I believe a 1/4 inch below the average. C'mon, that's not going to make much difference.
  18. Wow, the Nesser family had 6 brothers playing back in the 1920's. In modern times, there are 4 Browner brothers. List shows only 3 kicking Zendejas brothers but there had to be 4, with Tony being the most successful. Maybe they left him off due to his rape accusation?? However, when I looked up Max, it says Alex is a nephew??
  19. And another non-aggressive approach by Jauron not mentioned was the number of times they took possession late in the 1st half with plenty of time to mount a drive and they just ran out the clock.
  20. That was my 1st reaction, but the new staff needs to ignore the Maybin selection and evaluate what they have for their 3-4 defense. Right now you have a bunch of players penciled in at positions they haven't played. If Schobel retires, you have Kelsay, Ellis, Maybin (and Ellison?) as outside LBs and Edwards (only one to play a 3-4), S.Johnson and Stroud as DEs. Morgan wouldn't be my preference but I'd understand it. I agree they need to focus on offense, for which they've only added C.Green, Chad Jackson and 2 no-name RBs.
  21. Yes, for those that don't think the Skins O-line was bad, they started 2 Buffalo castoffs in Derrick Dockery & M.Williams. It makes me laugh when people say "the guys who work for NFL teams know more than we do". You have different levels of people in any type of work. Some lazy, who don't research things. How much atttention did the Skins management pay to how lousy Dockery was with the Bills when they signed him to a multiyear deal after we let him go?? Niners fans out here were excited when they signed Jonas Jennings and I just laughed. Unfortunately for them, it wasn't any different with him with SF and actually I thinked he missed more games per year.
  22. Only if Lynch is traded.
  23. Al Davis looks pretty bad too!! He's been using a walker the last couple seasons and I heard he didn't make it all of their games. He's still apparently in charge.
