  1. Aside from the Bills I have lost almost all interest in the NFL this year. The games have been boring, poorly officiated, with what seems like many positions lacking talent. Todays games have done nothing to change my mind. This isn't the same game I remember growing up. Keep in mind I'm only 30.

I agree. What a boring game. Someone wake me when it's over.
  2. We should definitely take a close look at Gordon; as Badol points out, he was historically good only two years ago. Is he still property of the Browns, a restricted free agent, or what? If he is still property of the Browns, any sense what it would take to get him? A 3d, maybe? I guess much depends on what kind of shape he's in, both mentally and physically.

  3. It helps when you have Roethlisberger throwing you the ball. Did you see Antonio Brown's stats when Roethlisberger wasn't playing?

With Roethlisberger he averaged 135+ yards per game, without him a little under 59 yards per game.

It's the difference from being an OK WR with 940 yards to being the all time leader by a mile in single season yardage with 2,160...

    Just saying

Let's make sure I understand: You're "just saying" that the Bills didn't really miss on Martavis Bryant, even though they had to have seen a ton of film on him in the course of scouting Sammy, because Bryant would be JAG in Orchard Park? And you're "just saying" that Marquis Goodwin would be really productive and healthy if Big Ben was throwing him the ball? Got it.

yes but I think we need a backup who will eventually be the guy. TT is a running QB and don't believe he will become the Elite QB we need to win the Super Bowl.

So I wouldn't bother with true backup type of guys.

That's a valid point, which is why I would also love to see the Bills pull the trigger on someone like Cardale Jones--a raw prospect but with huge upside down the road.

  5. I feel like he's improved his throwing motion, actually.

Very smooth. Could be a big reason for his overall improvement this year.

I agree. And don't forget, Hogan has been a very productive four-year starter at one of the best programs in the country, and one that runs a pro-style offense, as well. His transition to the pros should be a fairly smooth one. I can't see him lasting past the fifth round.

  6. Unlike some, I don't consider Goodwin a complete bust because when he has been able to get on the field, he has produced reasonably well and opens things up for the offense. However, his selection in the third round encapsulates everything that has been wrong with the Bills' front office for the past 20 years. Goodwin is a very talented athlete, but had not been highly productive at Texas, despite having a few big games. At the time the Bills picked Goodwin, Markus Wheaton (WR, Oregon State) was still on the board. Wheaton is a little bigger than Goodwin and only marginally slower (He once beat D'Anthony Thomas in the 100 yard dash in a PAC 12 track meet.) The difference is that Wheaton was a tremendously productive WR as a three-year starter at Oregon State against the highest level of competition, and he is tough as nails, AFIK never missing a game in college.

But the Bills decided to outsmart themselves and picked a flashy athlete who they thought had a higher upside over a fabulously productive FOOTBALL PLAYER. The Steelers selected Wheaton with the very next selection. He is their slot receiver and, as in college, he has been highly productive--750 yards receiving this year, 5 TDs and averages over 17 YPC. If the Steelers didn't have Martavis Bryant as their number 2 guy, Wheaton's numbers would look even better. Another missed opportunity.

because he is not that good, If you want Matt Cassel he's your guy

I saw Hogan play a ton of games over the last four years and I can't make up my mind about him. He's smart,, has a big, durable body and is surprisingly mobile. Has sort of a funny throwing motion that makes it look like he's pushing the ball. Not the strongest arm, but he gets the job done. I don't think he's a future franchise QB, but could be a 10-year pro in the mold of say Ryan Fitzpatrick, Frank Reich or Matt Hasselback. Not a bad guy to draft if you are looking to groom a back-up QB who can win some games when your starter goes down.
