Yep, but it never happens in the NFL. Ridiculous.Yeah, complete bull ****. He should have been ejected.
-
Basically a free (dirty) hit. Cost them two whole yards. He launched himself, with his helmet. It's the definition of an illegal hit. He should be thrown out of the game.
-
Wow, several errors in this sentence.Marrone has less of a problem because he was a successful college coach who only coached one season in the NFL; and that was for the Bills.
-
Any good 49er players we want on the Bills? Get them trades ready ...
Wonder if they have any RBs they are about to cut who we could acquire for a 4th round pick?
-
It's unlikely a QB taken after the 1st rd will get a second contract with a team because it's unlikely he'll be given a chance. Still this statement is false David Garrard got a 2nd contract.
Thank you. I doubt there is any fanbase in the NFL better able to come up with excuses NOT to draft a QB.
-
Maybe it's as simple as this: the pros are playing to put food on the table in a league where the average career lasts 3.5 years. They are playing for keeps.also, college coaches exercise more control over their players than NFL coaches just due to the nature of age, money, etc.
-
Totally agree. Seem to be fewer phantom PI calls in college and the instant replay system seems to work better, too.Is it just me or does it always seem like, while lacking perfection, the college refs are much less involved in the outcome of games?
And by the way, I LOVED that onside kick! The chances of recovering are actually quite high when the other team is not expecting it (i.e., the kicking team is not in desperation mode).
And, most importantly, they play a cupcake schedule every year.Clemson was the third youngest team in cfb I believe - they could very well be back next year IMO. Watson is too good. Dabo is a great recruiter too and they will be hungry.
-
You mean he thinks highly of a guy who is the best QB of his generation, if not of all time? Yeah, what a schmuck.Doesn't hero worship? Really? He and Nantz are both total Brady/Pats* knob gobblers.
-
If you say so.It was an entertaining legal drama. It was dull-as-**** football.
I wonder if they keep the kicking balls warm. Conditions don't seem to be affecting the kickers.
-
yeah, that game last night was a real snooze-fest.This has been the dullest weekend of football I can remember.
-
Since when can you tackle a guy by the helmet and not be penalized?
-
Yep, throw out the last 10 years of football based on the result of one game played in extreme conditions. Makes sense to me.If the Vikings win, I'm not interested in hearing anyone say that running the ball and playing good defense doesn't work any more

Garbage PI call. Seahawks are in trouble.
-
Of course. In general, it's not fair to say "why didn't we draft Antonio Brown in the fifth round?" But sometimes there are specific players that certain teams absolutely should have seen coming. In this case, Bryant since the Bills were obviously scouting his college team carefully and he is such a standout athlete. Russell Wilson is another example, given Wilson's outstanding college career and the Bills' crying need for a QB at the time, not to mention the worthless player they selected instead. No its allowed
but lets do it in the proper context.....ALL GMS do this
No. Whaley. Was buddy drafting in that draft for us?
-
If it was not a catch, it should have been. Not gonna say Dez's catch wasn't a catch but to say Bryant didn't catch the ball is lunacy. He secured it with his second hand while upside down then tucked it away perfectly.
-
Saban rushed back to college when he found out he didn't get 8 first round draft picks every year. Not as easy to win when you have an even playing field (more or less) and no games against Louisiana Tech,
-
So your beef is with the call on Jones? I did not see it (and they did not replay it) so I don't have an opinion on that one.Great post. You have it perfectly analyzed!
No the penalty on Brown should have been called. It was the need to give one team an advantage by making the stupid PF call at that time in the game.
-
So the hit on Brown was not a personal foul? Or should you be allowed to criminally assault another player just because it's a close game? You are not alone. Piss poor judgement inserting themselves into the outcome of the game. Should bring an NHL refs group to educate the NFL refs on game situations and how not to insert yourselves into almost every game at the wrong time.

Yep. Simms pointed out that if no one had touched him, Burfict would have just scored a safety for the Steelers. As it turned out, he was down, but why risk it for such a self-indulgent display?burfict running into the tunnel after the INT. he should've never come back out. what a clown.
-
The Burfict hit on Brown was the most reckless and dangerous play i have seen all year. It deserved an immediate ejection. The ball was well away and the 170 lb receiver was completely defenseless. To top it off, and maybe it shouldn't matter, but Brown is also one of the best and most exciting players in the league. Now he is likely out for at least a playoff game.
The fact that some are "outraged" by the call is incomprehensible. Football will always be a dangerous game, but garbage like that has absolutely no place in it. And anyone who thinks the game is becoming pussified, feel free to strap on the pads and go out there for a kickoff or two, then let us know what you think.
-
He was a number 2 receiver in college, for obvious reasons, so he did not have a ton of targets. Still managed 20 YPC on 42 receptions.Must have been some red flags on him, otherwise why would he fall to the 4th round?
Just like the 4th round grade Buddy pinned on Russell Wilson.they had 5th round grade on him i guess. the cockrell pick 5ish picks ahead of Bryant should have been the play.
-
I see. We're never allowed to criticize a draft pick because "hindsight is 20/20"? Rubbish. The Bills obviously warched a TON of Clemson tape in 2014. Is it not fair to ask why they didn't pay sufficient attention to a guy like Bryant, whose talents are pretty hard to miss?Revisionist drafting is my favourite activity.
-
Burfict is (rightly) being ripped for the inexcusable hit on Brown, but there is no way the Bengals would have been in position to win that game without him. The interception and his sack of Ben were flat-out phenomenal plays. He made plenty of others, too.
-
I know it's not cool, but I think Simms is the best. He does not get too hyped up, doesn't hero-worship and doesn't tell us that something happened when clearly it didn't. I see a lot of complaints about Simms but no specifics--just, "he sucks" or "I hate him". Not very convincing. What specifically do you not like?
Nantz, I agree, is awful.
