Imagine this board if we picked a RB at #12?
Lot of anger, and rightly so.

Thanks for linking that.
Awesome reading! I don't want to scroll thru the whole thing to see if I had any reaction at the time. But kudos to those posters who don't change their names here every 6 months. I have no idea who some of the Allen naysayers were, but I do know they're still here ....
It’s fine to have been wrong about Josh Allen—most people were—but the truly awful thing about that thread is the posters who turned their embarrassing takes into crusades against what would become the single greatest draft pick in Bills’ history, entirely certain that Josh Allen was a bust before he ever set foot on an NFL field.

I started a thread after the draft saying that it was crazy people were hating on the Lions draft and that they probably had the best draft of anyone. All these dumb bad draft grades literally because they took Gibbs at 12 instead of 18 when they had no idea if he would even last to 18. Yes you can make a case that you don't need to take a RB early, or even that its best not to...BUT that does NOT mean its ALWAYS wrong.
They got the 2nd best RB, top LB, 2nd best TE, and top S in the draft with their first 4 picks. It was a bounty then, and it proved to be a bounty on the field. I need to go find that thread where so many argued with me that Gibbs pick was terrible and their overall draft was a fail. Like most this board was slamming their draft
It is why I always say, the only people who care about "draft slot" are fans...in the NFL, it doesn't matter where you are selected, it just matters what you do on the field. When the Lions finished day 2 I was looking at the number 1 or 2 prospect at 4 positions of need for the Lions in 2 rounds...thats a hell of a draft haul and why I felt then that their draft was one of the best, if not the best, back then.
I loved LaPorta too, its why I waited on a TE and took him in 4 of my 5 leagues...one league a Lions fan snaked him a couple rounds earlier than he had been going so I missed out on him lol.
Yet most of TSW was slamming the Lions draft last year after they made those 4 picks
It was not a great draft. It’s unlikely that the Lions will exercise fifth year options on either of their two first round picks, they have no corners and a QB who is upgradable.

What a difference maker this draft class was for the Lions:
Round 1, Pick 12 — RB Jahmyr Gibbs
Round 1, Pick 18 — LB Jack Campbell
Round 2, Pick 34 overall — TE Sam LaPorta
Round 2, Pick 45 overall — DB Brian Branch
The rest of their draft was not much but these 4 guys were amazing, particularly Gibbs and LaPorta. I think LaPorta could become another Kelce type dominant TE for years.
It sure would be amazing if we could find 4 guys who could step right in at Saftey, WR, LB and DT draft this year.
I’m sure we could if we had four picks in the top 45 of the draft. Lions used all those picks on non-premium positions…not a good long term strategy.

Hard to say, the Chiefs have all the making of a dynasty and he might want to stick around to see if there are a few more shots at a few more rings.
But if he marries Taylor, then all bets are off.
Do you really think Taylor Swift wants to be married to an ex-football player?

Harbaugh is stale there. He's also tied to a QB who is not perfect.
They'll always be a thorn. Never a rose.
I heard on ESPN that the Ravens have the best QB in the league. I think Ryan Clark said that. He also said Josh Allen is not very good.

I just watched the CBS talking heads and the Fox talking heads and no one talked about Jackson's very bad game and very bad playoff record. I can't believe if Allen had a 2 - 4 playoff record and had 1 TD and 2 TO's in a home championship game they wouldn't be all over the guy.
Allen has been incredible in the post season but he’d be roasted alive if he had a game like Lamar did today.

Hopefully we’ve heard the last of the idiotic ESPN talking heads comparing Lamar to Josh Allen.

We're going to trade all our FAs to move up. It's a new strategy.

It would be kind of fun if we went all in and traded up for MHJ.
Not really…the Bills’ history with that sort of move is truly awful, and is still being felt today.

Do NOT trade up. Whoever we take, I can just about guarantee a guy will go later who will be just as good or better. Happens every draft.
I can almost guarantee that Beane will trade up...probably only a few picks perhaps to 25 or 26, but he simply can't resist. And we're picking in a place where the WRs are really going to be coming off the board fast. KC will definitely be looking to move up...

I really don’t understand why Trevor Lawrence is showing up on so many peoples’ lists. He’s done nothing to merit top 10 inclusion.
Allen
Mahomes
Burrow
Jackson
Stafford
Stroud
Goff
Prescott
Herbert
Love
Purdy
Tua
Hurts
Murray
Lawrence

They actually did though on the biggest play of the game when Chris Jones hit Allen at the right time when he threw what in all likelihood was a TD pass to Shakir which would have taken a 31-27 lead and forced Mahomes to answer back with TD instead of FG. Obviously in hindsight this is the only game changing play that truly mattered.
This is still one of the main differences with the Bills (and why a 'defensive' head coach needs to go) because we simply don't have a guy that can do that on the defensive side in crucial moments.
Some people were saying Lil’ Ed was that guy…

Tough to blame injuries when our healthiest unit on d (the dline) failed to touch Mahomes.
KC's d-line didn't touch Allen, either. The officials decided to allow holding on the o-line. Go figure.

Interesting he has current fan-favorite Troy Franklin going right after our pick to the KC Chiefs. (@HappyDays)
If that played out, I cant imagine the number of Mitchel vs Franklin comparison threads we'd have here throughout their careers.
I also wont be surprised to watch KC leapfrog us to #25 and get the WR we both wanted...
We can count on KC aggressively going after a WR early in this draft. They won’t trot out this same crew again next year.

I think you'd have to go massive to get any of the top 3... MHJ, Nabers, Odunze. I am not giving away all my mock v1.0 secrets (you have a week or so to wait) but I agree with DJ's v1.0 the other day. I see it being 3 QBs then 3 WRs in the first 6 picks. Don't have the order exactly the same but that is the way the first 6 looks like shaking out to me without trades.
Agreed. It’s a deep WR draft, but there are a LOT of teams who are WR-needy and they are going to come off the board fast. I do see the Bills taking a WR, but with a trade up into the 20-24 range to avoid losing out, like we did last year with Addison and Flowers…at this point, it’s anyone’s guess who Beane will target, but Troy Franklin makes an awful lot of sense.

What kind of offensive system did you want in place with the OL that this team has trotted out since Daboll was here? A vertical attack with longer developing routes would have gotten Allen killed. Quicker routes have made this OL look better than it really is.
I’m not sure what you mean. I’d say we had a top 5 offensive line this year. Certainly the best one I can remember since the Super Bowl years…all five starters started every game, as well…virtually unheard of.

It looks to me like the NFL told the refs to sit on the offensive holding penalties this postseason. I've seen LOTS of holding in all games I've watched, hardly any flags to speak of.
Yeah, Allen wasn’t pressured much either. Not even close to being sacked, really.

If McDermott were fired, would anyone hire him as HC? I would imagine the Panthers might give him a look, but I can’t think of anyone else.

I wonder if we had Nacua, if he would have even seen the field (much). McD takes his sweet time with skill players.
We don't even have any idea what we have in Shorter, the WR we drafted in the fifth round instead of Nacua...
