I've said for some time that if you truly put this teams 'success' under the microscope and take an objective, unbiased look at the situation that you'll probably realize that it's very hollow.

The biggest of them all winning (now) four straight division titles in which the only real threat has been a soft Dolphins team also ravaged by injuries the last 2 years.

In fact going back to 2020, this team almost lost to a washed Phillip Rivers in the wildcard round and probably would have if not for some favorable calls in that game. Other than that they have beat up on nothing but trash in the postseason just like a lot of their regular season wins through the years.

Until a true 'wartime' coach is in the Buffalo nothing will change.

This reflects the prevailing wisdom in the national media regarding the Bills...we might not like it, but it's hard to refute it: "Josh Allen is amazing but the team around him is not good enough."  Last night was Exhibit A for that argument.

-WC Loss to the Houston Texans.  We weren't ready.  Second half collapse, but Year 2 Josh Allen.  Not the end of the world.

-AFC Championship Game vs KC.  Defense was handed an early lead and proceeded to lay an egg.  But hey, we're making strides and weren't ready for that moment.  But we're on the right track.

-AFC Divisional Game vs KC.  13 seconds.  Abject failure that falls directly on the coaching.  We'll apparently never know where the disconnect was in those final moments, but ok.

-AFC Divisional Game at home vs CIN.  No show all around.  Damar Hamlin, mental exhaustion... ok.  Fine.

-AFC Divisional Game at home vs KC.  Defense is an absolute dumpster fire.  McDermott leading that Defense.  But we have injuries, so...  Spags had injuries too, and managed to make life difficult in that second half, but ok...

Playoff wins over Miami with a backup QB, Pittsburgh with a backup QB, Baltimore, New England and Indianapolis.

Every year, aside from 13 seconds, he's had a valid excuse.  First two years, building, making strides...

But then 13 seconds happened, and our Defense has been an absolute liability against the Bengals and Chiefs.

He gets next year, I'm sure, but there can't be anymore excuses.  Valid or not.. he's used all of them up.  We talk about needing luck yet NE ran the AFC for a decade + and now KC is doing the same.  It's not luck, as much as we want to pretend it is.  And when we watch Allen play Mahomes.. it's not the QB.  So what is it?  Rhetorical question, because we all know.. and he's out of excuses.  Valid or not.  You can't have one every year.

Why does McDermott necessarily get another year?  Nick Siriani, less than 12 months removed from a Super Bowl appearance, is on thin ice in Philly.  Why is it inconceivable that McDermott gets canned after four straight years of failing to capitalize on the most dynamic QB in the league--maybe even in league history?

  3. To me, the most discouraging part of the game is that the Bills had everything go their way in this game.  The game was in Orchard Park, the Bills recovered three of their own fumbles, the Chiefs fumbled the ball through the end zone on a play that should have put them up two scores, and we literally got every possible call from the refs, including a few that could have been overturned but stayed in the Bills favor.  And of course, this was the most vulnerable  Chiefs team we’re ever likely to see.  I guarantee they won’t go into another season with a receiving corps like this one.

And yet with all these things going our way, we still lose to the Chiefs.  If we bring back this staff, what is going to change to turn this in the Bills’ favor? Hell, how are we even going to beat the Bengals?  I just don’t see it.  Gotta move on from this coaching staff.

Multiple dropped passes, including 3 deep passes. The Diggs and Sherfield drops were inexcusable with both hitting their arms (ball literally bounced off their bicep).

And even worse than that, NO ONE could get separation. None of our receivers.

Keep Shakir. Keep Diggs (we have no choice honestly, financially). And rebuild the entire rest of the WR block.

And yet our receivers are better than the Chiefs’ WRs…so there is more going on here.  Our whole offensive scheme is inferior to theirs…

Here’s a hard fact….our passing game never looked good. Not even after Joe Brady took over. Our running game looked better but the Bills passing game looked pedestrian.

I really would like to see a search done for a new offensive coordinator.

I won’t get into Steffon Diggs other than to say I wish we had an out where we didn’t get killed cap-wise. He looks disinterested. He started the season great and just faded into oblivion. He is a non-factor.

I hope I never see Tyler Bass in a Bills uniform again.

Josh Allen? Superman. Just a freak and we are wasting him. One AFC title loss? That is alarming.

I agree.  I hated the fact that all season long, and tonight, we never took advantage of second and short.  Every single time we ran it to pick up a first down instead of taking a shot downfield once in a while.  And I hated the way Brady turned Josh Allen into a game-manager in the second half tonight.

How sweet it would’ve been if Dorian Williams would’ve been allowed to grow this year. McD doesn’t trust he knows what to do on the field so he’s behind both Spector and Klein. I’d have to believe a crash course in experience (and mistakes) would’ve molded him into a pretty good starter.

If you’d asked people their opinion of Bernard last year at this time, you would have heard something similar.

Yea I remember Dawkins having a wing eating contest for the OL before bengals game… akin to this

dunno- Olympic athletes don’t do this ***** - I guarantee Tom Brady or Peyton manning didn’t do this crap.  It’s 100% , 24/7 focus leading up to competition.

    Lighten up, Francis.

    Google Translation:

"When the Chiefs faced the Bills this season... Because of this penalty, Patrick Mahomes will play the first game of his career away from home in #NFLPlayoffs He played 15 games in the playoffs, all in Kansas City or the Super Bowl #ChiefsKingdom"

So this one play cost the Chiefs homefield, just as the Josh Allen slip on the QB sneak at Tennessee cost us the no. 1 seed in 2021. Why couldn't the tush push have been invented back then?

It’s a false narrative anyway.  Even if the obvious penalty had been ignored, Josh Allen would have gotten the ball back with time outs and over a minute left on the clock…the Bills still would have won.

just saw that Ron Rivera is interested in coaching still and how he missed coaching on a granular level when he took over for Jack Del Rio who was fired mid season.  He also stated he has a few opportunities available.

I think this is a bit interesting.

    Why?

Why is everyone saying the injuries are so bad. Already confirmed Douglas is going to play, davis is back and most of our other injuries are Day to day . I'd imagine most if not all with the day to day designation play. Every team has injuries at this point. I think we are decently healthy and playing at home. No excuses.

Overall, the Bills have been as healthy as any team in the league this year.

These teams have played each other so many times over the past four years it now feels like an in-division game and rivalry. They are so familiar with each other that there are no surprises or awe. Neither are not intimidated. They both have had their moments; the competitive "hate" of a good rivalry is a part of the sauce now. Add to that the iconic fanbases and two old-school football venues with snow and cold which makes for great TV.

And most important of all, the rivalry features two transcendent superstar quarterbacks--two of the best and most exciting players in all of sports (not just the NFL) to watch.

Sunday can't get here soon enough.

Other interesting connections: the Reid/McDermott history and the fact that KC drafted Mahomes with the pick they got from Buffalo…

I respect Mahomes a lot but his strength isn't scrambling. If KC needs him to scramble to win, we've got this. I think Clappy knows enough about Reid's tendencies to nullify that threat

I’m not sure how you can say this.  Mahomes is the best scrambler in the league.  I think the Bills will win, but I’m not sure how you can deny Mahomes’s scrambling ability.

The only fake is you, my man. That's the new narrative. I disagree that there's room on this board for this: what you actually did was come onto an opposing team's message board, whine about a completely legal stutter step/juke move, claiming it was something else, and called Josh Allen garbage. You've never made such a post against your own team's QB for doing the same, even worse, and avoided acknowledging it.

What you did was trolling and there is no room on this board for that from an opposing team's fan.

Sorry, I disagree with this.  Zerovoltz’s original post was a really terrible take that was guaranteed to generate a heated response here. However, we have to consider it in context…Zerovoltz has a long history of coming here and posting highly informed and respectful takes about all sorts of Bills and Chiefs-related issues.  IMO, he’s one of the best of the fans of other teams who posts here.  So, as bad as his original post was, I don’t think it was made in bad faith and it does not even come close to outweighing his positive contribution to this community.

Agreed.  As much as I think Araiza deserves another chance, now is not the time.

Probably true. Araiza may be a talented punter but he’s never punted in an NFL game and hasn’t punted in any game in more than two years.  This is the playoffs and weather conditions won’t be ideal.  There are experienced punters on the street who can fill in.  Hell, we signed Martin off the street and he did just fine.
