3 teams in 5 years. What exactly do you think a journeyman is? Someone old? Doesn't have to be. That said, hats off for Fitz for giving us some great entertainment, but he's not a long-term answer. He's the epitome of all the bills 7-9 and 8-8 seasons. Myself, I think we need to try something new.

Everyone hates losing, but to be fair, you do have some valid points. This franchise has been spinning its wheels with no results for nearly 20 years. People like to think about the Superbowl years like they were yesterday, but they were not. They were ages ago. We have been a sub-mediocre team since then. We have had many 7-9 seasons and many draft positions in the teens. Is this really what people want again? We need an elite quarterback. Fitz is a very good QB at best. He is not elite and he is not Jimbo. He is not going to be the guy who is going to get us to th playoffs for the next 10 years. He is good enough to win us 7-9 games though. He is not a franchise QB like Manning or Brady. I repeat, is this what people really want? We may have a very rare opportunity come this off-season, a #1 pick. We need to use this on a Manning or a Brady. We should not be abandoning the idea of drafting a QB because we have found a journeyman QB that has played decently the last 4 games. And remember, elite/great QBs always find ways to win. Sure, Fitz can suit up for the defense, but he can certainly help our defense by keeping them off the field.

I agree with you. Some people are acting like he is the second coming of Christ. Don't get me wrong, he has been playing excellently. But, very well for just 4 games. The rest of his career suggests otherwise. He is an above average QB at best, not an excellent QB nor an elite one. He lit it up against a team that was most likely already looking past us to next week and we were coming off a bye. In addition, Gailey is known for polishing turds. Now, he very well be our answer. But let's wait until the end of the year. We have another half season left and let's see who declares. For us to pass on an elite QB for another one of Gailey's one-hit-wonders (when we'll have the best draft position in years) would be devastating to this franchise.

This is insanity. No way the Eagles ship out their QB of the future. This is just ridiculous. Vick or no vick, he's going nowhere. And we all know Vick is very hot and cold.

I feel the lack of a CBA is the only thing that would keep Luck out of the draft. He's going #1; he knows it, you know it, 'nuff said. For what other reason would he stay in school? And extra year of football is not going to improve his draft status. If he wants to "stay in school" and complete his Communications degree, fine, but he can do that later. If he wants $50+ million in guaranteed money, then he should declare. If he wants to run the risk of a suffering a career-ending injury before signing said $50+ million-in-guanteed-money contract, then stay in school.

He's not bad. He's actually a great back-up QB. But, with this defense, it doesn't matter. Can't win games with opposition scoring over 30 points each game. However, even with a decent defense, I don't see him getting us to the playoffs, especially within our division.

I'm definitely pro-education, but giving up at least $50 million guaranteed (i.e. more than what Bradford got from the Rams) would be a bonehead move for someone who could otherwise stay in school and suffer a career-ending injury on his very first play. If he's the consensus #1 pick in the 2011 NFL, he would have little reason to stay in school. He would be risking millions.

Doesn't every QB that's going to picked #1 overall know he's going to a bottom feeder? What team with the #1 overall pick is decent? We'll still pay the same amount of money that any other bottom feeder would pay. He'll be a multi-millionaire overnight, never having to worry about money ever again. He can stay in school, but every football player knows they could be 1 play away from a career-ending injury. If you know your going to be the #1 pick overall, why not come out? Because you may improve your draft position next year?

And exactly how else would we obtain this franchise QB? Off the street? CFL? Free agency? I would think obtaining a Brees via free agency or Warner via the CFL would be shots in the dark?

I would go for this. Trade him for a 3rd or conditional 2nd. He's good, but he's not going to cause this team to win.

I don't know exactly what this change means. Part of me just wants the Bills to go through the rebuilding pains. Win 1 game this year and get a franchise QB in the draft. Pick up the LT in free agency. Putting Fitz in probably will win us about 5 games tops and will get us the number 11 pick or whatever. We have seen this before. It's the foundation of mediocrity. I'm just sick of the losing though. That said, I think it bad to lose games on purpose of getting a better draft pick. But, I thinks it's OK losing games to get a better draft position because we suck and don't have the talent to cut it. It's gonna have to happen sooner of later. We're gonna have to hit total rock-bottom before going up. And, I'm talking Raider/Lions/Rams rock bottom. We're close though.

Or, at least wait to the bye. It's not like we're going to benefit from throwing in a new QB right now into a new system. We shouldn't expect miracles. Maybe this is just what this team needs, a near winless season?

Tell me about it. Do things like this happen with other teams? I remember when players would just "get injured" and would come back in 2-6 weeks or whatever. Now, it seems, Bills players get any kind of injury and they're automatically placed on IR and their seasons done.

This was kinda predictable. He'll make it to the PS. No team is going to put him on their active roster.

I would agree with the OP. Current players (and former palyers too) probably shouldn't be on this board and the internet in general. This is a fan message board. Many people come here to vent frustration and I do think they have every right to do so. This is why the board was made and this is how the internet has evolved - as a place for people to B word and moan while hiding behind their computer screens. This isn't going to change ever because it's part of human nature. People leaving the board isn't going to change this. That said, it would have to take some pretty thick skin for current players (and former players) to sit by and read this stuff on here. Thicker skin then we would think is needed. We all say "it's the internet, grow some balls", but I think it is much harder than we think. We underestimate the psychological toll of constantly being thrown under the bus. I probably wouldn't be able to sit by and read it and not get angry. So, it's probably best if these type of people just left and we should respect their choice.
