  1. Butler was a hot head underachiever while at UVA. He also tended to rely on being bigger than everyone else while playing. Anybody with an ounce of speed can get by him. He is a better run blocker than pass blocker. I don't know anything about Pennington, but I about lost my lunch when we drafted Butler.
  2. I like Kornheiser, I don't want everybody calling the game to know more than me in regards to football. He lightens up the telecast. Can you imagine Tierico, Theisman, and McGuire calling the game? I wouldn't mind them replacing Theisman with Bob Trumpy, same a-hole commentary without the ego.
  3. Early mock drafts are always funny, IMO its going to be a battle between Calvin Johnson and Brady Quinn for who's #1. Dropping Johnson to #7 just means whoever wrote that up doesn't watch college football. Jared Gaither is a top 15 pick right now at best and where is Gaines Adams from Clemson? The Lber from PSU is still showing effects from injury, I think we could nab him in the low teens. If he recovers and plays like he did last year, then he could go top ten.
  4. It either Crowell, Haggan, Stamer, or Fletcher. I don't think Fletcher would do something like that and Crowell (at least when he was with UVA) is a good kid.
  5. Trying to figure it out. Friend says that bourbon is spelled that way.
  6. The guy jumps on crocodiles, handles cobras, swam with sharks, and ends up getting killed by an animal that you can pet at some zoos. It makes you shake your head. I got stung by a small stingray out on the coast of one of the Florida Keys because I stepped on it, got me in the calf, it hurt like hell, but about a zillion other times we would swim or wade right by them with no problem. I never really watched his shows, but from some of the interviews he did you could tell that the guy was genuine and really just wanted to educate people about what he did.
  7. Rodgers has a drinking problem and has only broke his collar bone once, his other injury was fracturing his scapula. He'd be worth an interview.
  8. I knew one of the guys who kicked for NC State when Philip Rivers was there and he would be consistantly short on anything 40+, put the ball on a tee and he was Jason Elam.
  9. I work with a couple of USC Columbia fans in Charlotte and they speak of him like he's a first ballot HOFer. When I went to the Bills-Panthers game I sat next to a USC Columbia alum who said that the Bills were his new favorite team because of Ko Simpson. He said that he would make a play before the end of the game. You should have heard him when he recovered that fumble, he went crazy.
  10. 2% of the world will get this right when a crack addict has a 20% chance just by guessing?
  11. Difference in practices and the level of coaching between the varsity and JV is major. I played in fall practice my FR with the JV unit and then got put on the varsity squad, I might not have played as much as I would have with the JVs but I got some great coaching that led to me being recruited by such schools as NC State, UNC, and Wake Forest. Granted they were all offering me academic scholarships for my grades, but I like to pretend it was for my 5.0 forty and well built 170 pound frame. If ends up being real good send him to NC State, we need linebackers.
  12. I think Losman's rep for being cocky was when he was on the field, not his off field personality.
  13. I think if we don't get adequate play from either Nall / Losman / Holcomb we'll be drafting their replacement pretty high in next year's draft. I don't care which one steps up, but someone better. If we can somehow keep Clements past this year, man we could really have a dominant secondary over the next couple of years if the Whitner and Simpson pan out. I really like how Levy used one draft to potentially shore up one part of this team. Hopefully next year we can do the same for another group (OL / DL). Also, is billsdaily.com pretty plugged in? They have Holcomb as the starter on their depth chart, was there some kind of announcement of the where everybody stood pre-training camp, or is that their prediction?
  14. Brooks for the most part isn't that bad, he had some drug issues (minor) and sort of a lousy work ethic. He was kicked out of UVA because he refused to come to spring practice if he was going to be suspended indefinantly for the upcoming season for failing a drug test that was a year old. Al Groh knew about it, but when it started to make the rounds in the press, Groh had some pressure to do something about it. The thing that sucks is that he was lead to believe for about three months by UVA that he would be fine and that the suspension would be a set amount of time (I had heard two games). The AD at UVA then decided it was time to clean house of some undesirables and Groh kicked Brooks and two others of the team for "undisclosed off field issues". There's no doubt he was caught with pot and no doubt that he was full of himself and had a father that thought he was the DC of the Cavs and should have been suspended, but how UVA handled it (with a nice little smear job and delayed announcements) was really in poor taste, especially with the things that Wali Lundi, Blackstock, and Brad Butler got away with over their time in Charlottesville. I sure wouldn't compare him to AJ Nicholson.
  15. Its like baseball in the playoffs, all about the match ups Would you throw your ace against a fifth starter? When I saw that the Dems were trotting out John Kerry, I thought to myself, good move guys, why put a moderate Dem out there that could get some GOP voters who were exasperated with Bush, when they could put the Ketchup boy on the ticket? Gore pretty much talked his way out the White House, non-loyal party moderates are not going to vote for a guy that would keep us out of war by boring any aggressers into a coma. Bush was just more personable and to those voters sometimes they just have to be sold. When Bush won the nomination, I remember thinking that we were toast. This upcoming election should be interesting with Clinton, the Governor from New Mexico, and the like getting a chance. I just hope that the GOP will put someone out there that bears some resemblance to our party and not some crazy baptist minister.
  16. I'm a conservative republican and some of the things this administration has done makes me wonder what party Bush aligns himself with. He's seems to be big gov't and big spending. The problem is between Bush and Fox News, people assume every conservative republican is a bible beating, free right impeding, country taking over Bush lover. I'm no liberal, but our party can do a lot better than George Bush.
  17. If your political views are founded soley on watching a news satire show on Comedy Central, then I don't know if I want you voting. I'm a republican and I watch the Daily Show. I find it pretty funny some of the time, I guess I just remember that it's entertainment. It's sort of sad that in today's world you really can't find any unbiased news and political content out there. CNN has a liberal slant, Fox News has a neo-conservative slant, and no watches MSNBC except to watch the financial babes. The best thing to do is look yourself in the mirror and realize where you want the country to be in the future, then vote accordingly to the candidate that supports your views based on a platform that you've researched yourself. Or you could read the Onion.
  18. Wait a second, castration or a vasectomy? Which one are you getting? Do you have cancer or something?
  19. Oh man, I just went back and checked your posts, I went off on the wrong guy, user name was sorta the same but not, its late, I'm still at work, saw that you were from Holly Springs and lost it. I had to read some crap on here during the Canes / Sabres series and it just burned me bad. Thought you were somebody else. I really do apologize, figures the one time I go after somebody its the wrong guy. In hindsight, should of just kept my mouth shut. Hope you accept my apology.
  20. I've tolerated you long enough. As a North Carolina native let me just tell you based on every comment I've seen you make about my state and its citizens, you are a true representative of class. It's good you're quarantined over in Holly Springs. I know a lot of good guys from WNY who have moved here to Raleigh and Charlotte, watched a lot of good football, and had some fun with them during the Canes / Sabre series. I can only say thank God I've never met you and I pray I never will. People like you are the one of the reasons there's problems in the world. If you don't like North Carolina and the people who live there go the hell back from wherever it is you came from and stop wasting space in my state. It's one thing for someone to make fun of NC and its citizens when you're up in NY and just don't know any better or care. It's another thing entirely to move down here, live in southwestern Wake County, and constantly dribble out your mouth how stupid everyone is and every dumb redneck Hurricane fan can "lick balls". I mean you hate rednecks, farmers, non-hockey fans, people with strange accents, and so on, and you live in Holly Springs, NC. That's the equivalent of someone from Fuquay Varina (that's southeast of you, still in Wake County) moving to a suburb outside of Buffalo and complaining that he/she hates smooth talking, fancy car driving, slick backed hair yankees. What the hell is your problem?
  21. Congrats to willis for showing up at a mandatory mini camp, he's an exemplory teammate who deserves a contract extension. It's amazing how little we expect from pro athletes anymore.
  22. He's had his nails removed at least one other time IIRC, right before his sophmore year. This surgery is being done so it won't happen again.
  23. Columbia is the closest SEC city to Charlotte, but Charlotte is second only to Atlanta in employment opportunities in the south. In my office alone, there are four SC grads, 3 UGA grads, two UF grads, two Ole Miss grads, a Kentucky grad, and a MSU grad. I think all go to Panther games.
  24. Have you ever been to North Carolina? Charlotte is one of the biggest SEC hotbeds there is. As for Hillbilly Coast, I guess Duke, North Carolina, Virginia, Wake Forest, and Georgia Tech were your back up schools when you were making that college decision.
  25. I'm most likely going to get nailed for this but here goes. I have been a Bills fan since I was eight years old, before the Panthers existed, so I had the entire NFL to choose from. I picked the Bills because I had a friend whose father was from Oswego and rooted for Buffalo. I would go to his house every Sunday and watch football with them. I fell in love with the team; his father said that WNY was a lot like Eastern Carolina in terms of the type of people that lived in the region. I assumed that he represented a lot of the type of person from the Buffalo area, not the city type of guy that would come down from NYC. I am from Eastern NC, my family owns a farm, we work hard, my brother went to Yale, I have a cousin who went to Cornell, I went to NC State, then went to Duke for law school, all of my friends are from the eastern portion of NC, all are college educated, we have all our teeth, we all know how to read. One thing I have issue with is every time somebody talks negative about the Sabres during this series everybody on here starts dumping on my region of the state where I grew up and was raised. It's where a good bit of you have never been or will ever visit, but seem pretty confident of your knowledge based on repeated viewings of the Andy Griffith Show. I guess there are no rural areas in New York State, its just NYC and Buffalo, no farming, no agriculture, just skyscrapers and banking. We sell a lot of our product to farms in WNY and other than an accent and some eating habits, there's not a whole lot of difference. I guess I should assume that every Bill and Sabre fan from the area either works for GEICO or has been laid off by Kodak because that's what I see on TV and hear on the radio. The redneck references to Raleigh are especially humorous since there are so many transplanted New Yorkers that have come down here. I don't get how you quantify our education levels based our knowledge of a sport that has been here in the mainstream less than ten years. Maybe we should just stop going to games; Raleigh should stop writing about the only professional sport in their region of the state because the fans are just stupid and haven't caught on, I'm shocked any of them have the money to go. I went to the game last Saturday, I asked the guy in my row in the Sabres jersey what he thought about drafting John McCargo and how neat it was that the Bills had someone from State for the first time since Damian Covington, he was nice all the way up until during the second period (after the drinking kicked in) when he called the family sitting in front of me a bunch of dumb redneck fans for not knowing that there is no icing during a power play. He also complained about the beer, the arena, the fans, the traffic pattern, the fact that there were basketball jerseys hanging in the rafters, he also informed me that the Hurricanes used to be in Hartford, I'm glad he told me, I had no idea. His buddy (he didn't wear a Sabres jersey, but told me he was from Rochester) kept chanting "!@#$ the hurricanes" in front of my eight year old daughter, when I asked him to stop he said I shouldn't bring a child to a hockey game. My wife had a lot of fun explaining to her what that meant after the game. I will keep rooting for the Bills, I even rooted for the Sabres during the regular season because of their location and I extremely doubt that the majority of you would behave that way in public, but don't get on here and slam our fans and native North Carolinians when the only thing you can send to Raleigh is the classless trash that I have seen.
