  1. More like "Visions of Super Bowls dance in my head"
  2. Anyone who says David Kreig should be in the Hall of Fame needs to take that football class they give at Ralph Wilson Stadium. That's just absurd!
  3. That's why he was beat out in St Louis by a former 6th round pick who was on a couple of practice squads
  4. Well look at the past. Teams have given up #1s for a body of work a lot skimpier than Trent Edwards currently has. Do you remember back in 1998 there was this backup on Jacksonville who commanded a 1st and a 4th from a team that was scammed by one great game. Then the team, that shall remain nameless, gave the QB a 5 year $25 million contract. How about Matt Schaub in 2007 for a swap of 1sts (picks 8 & 10), a 2nd and I think a 2008 2nd. Then a big $ contract for Schaub with Houston. Also a 2005 1st, and 2004 2nd & 5th for the rights to draft JP Losman in the 1st round of the 2004 draft with no NFL experience. Face it, if a team offerred a 1st for Trent, the Bills would say no and laugh in their face. Anyone who could get Trent for a #1 would be accused of the biggest heist since Denver traded for John Elway.
  5. I will bolster your case with this. The 11-13 guys I mentioned were outright busts. The team that let them go basically had to go back to the drawing board and start all over again after they failed. I believe that Trent Edwards is a rare talent that the coaches knew had to be put into the lineup as soon as they could. Therefore, the JP situation may indeed be different because none of these guys were replaced because the team found someone anyone near the talent of a Trent Edwards to replace each of them with. So in that case the JP situation is different than the cases I have cited. JP may indeed be a good starting NFL QB, I don't know, because in my opinion the Bills found greatness and replaced a question mark in JP with someone who will be an elite talent. That does give the JP situation a different angle than the busts I listed. On a side note, it was evident early the Bills knew they had something special in Edwards. Here are some quotes from the 9/9/2007 season preview edition of Pro Football Weekly before Trent ever took a snap in a regular season NFL game. page 4 "" According to daily observers at Bills camp, rookie Trent Edwards has clearly been the most impressive quarterback thus far. J.P. Losman undoubtedly remains the starter heading into Week One, but considering that he was drafted by the old coaching regime, coach Dick Jauron has no particular loyalty to him. Edwards-a Stanford product-was given a glowing endorsement by the late Bill Walsh prior to the draft and apparently everything Walsh highlighted about the youngster has come to light. Edwards quickly supplanted Craig Nall as No 2 on the depth chart and his numerous preseason repititions could carry over to the regular season if Losman struggles." page 6 ""Bills QB J.P. Losman had an impressive end to the '06 season, but third-round pick Trent Edwards was clearly the top quarterback through camp, which could spell trouble for Losman should he falter."
  6. Anyone who seriously thinks Sarah Palin will ever be a viable Presidential candidate do a search on the following: "James Danforth Quayle" + Presidential Campaign + 1996
  7. Well based on the fact that Kerry Collins had already taken Carolina to the NFC Championship game in his 2nd season in the league and just needed to stop drinking so much, plus the fact that 8 years ago Collins led the Giants to the NFC Championship, it's not so outrageous that Collins could lead a team to a 4-0 start. It's not like Tennessee is 16-0. Since the salary cap era, name me another 1st round QB, who lost his starter's job with the team that drafted him and ever amounted to anything with another team. The best ones after Collins, the exception to the rule are Tommy Maddox and Trent Dilfer-2 QBs who didn't exactly go on to greatness. Heck, Dilfer wasn't even re-signed after his team won the Super Bowl because it was the defense, not Dilfer who got them there. There is a ton of data that says it is highly unlikely that JP will ever be a successful starter in the NFL. These are all the 1st round QBs who lost their starter's job and never succeeded in the NFL since the salary cap & free agency came into effect in 1992. Only Collins, Dilfer and Maddox ever had even a modicum of success after losing their jobs and getting let go by their draft team. Here's the guys drafted from 1992 on who didn't: David Klingler, Rick Mirer, Heath Schuler, Ryan Leaf, Tim Couch, Akili Smith, Cade McNown, David Carr, Joey Harrington, Patrick Ramsey, and Byron Leftwich. Statistically, if you only include Collins, thats 1 in 14. or 7.14%, or a 92.86% failure rate-and the 1 had a drinking problem-JP has no known off field problem that he can fix. If you consider Dilfer & Maddox successful, then it's 3/14 or 21.43% or a 78.57 failure rate. Could JP be the exception-I wouldn't bet on it. Since the salary cap era, 16 years and counting, when a team jettisons a former 1st round QB pick, getting little or nothing back in return, they are almost always right. Dumping a 1st round QB pick is done only after the team has determined that the guy is a bust-you just don't invest that much time & money for another team to profit from your former 1st rounder. To call 16 years of data that indicates JP won't ever be successful nonsense is ignoring reality. People can like JP & hope he's the exception, but the odds are really stacked against him.
  8. I agree, he would get us AT LEAST two 1st round picks.
  9. I started channel surfing after the debate, first MSNBC, where I couldn't take Palin did great Buchannan vs Palin sucked Maddow. Then it was on to FOX News & CNN. On FOX News they had a group of undecided voters. They asked the group who won the debate. Most raised their hands for Palin. On CNN they had a group of undecided voters. They asked the group who won the debate. Most raised their hands for Biden. At that point I couldn't take it anymore & turned off the post debate spin.
  10. One of the reasons I can't stand QB rating stats & even QB TD stats is because a QB gets more TD passes if he passes on X & goal than if he hands off to a RB at the end of a long drive. A QB who orchestrates a TD drive of 80 yards isn't any better because he threw on 2nd & 2 and scored a TD than if he handed off to the RB for a rushing TD. Yet, his QB rating and TD % is better. There are so many other situations that reflect in ratings such as a receiver having a pass bounce off his hands into a CB's hands for an int or even as we have seen this year against Oakland where the DB wrestles the ball away from the receiver and the QB gets an INT. Another thing stats don't take into account is if the #s are done vs creampuff defenses, or rock solid ones. That's why people who religiously (nothing to do with Jesus, RL) follow QB stats usually can be found wearing a straight jacket in a room with padded walls.
  11. One is in Colorado & one is in California, so when they have the western division championship of convict football, they may be playing each other.
  12. Anyone who thinks Kurt Warner is a top 10 QB of all time loses all credibility. Tell me this: Will Warner be in the Hall of Fame? The answer is no, he won't be in the Hall of Fame. Any player who is a top 10 QB of all time is a 1st ballot Hall of Famer. Kurt Warner is not! Jim Kelly isn't even a top 10 QB of all time and he was a 1st ballot Hall of Famer. Have you ever seen Kurt Warner up close? He has a fundamental problem that he has never been able to overcome-he holds on to the ball too long and does not always sense the pass rush well-that's why he can become a turnover machine like in the 1st half of the Jets game. When he has time in the pocket, Kurt Warner can be as good as any QB. It's when there is the inevitable defender who gets through that throws Warner completely off his game. Just looking at the 1st half of last week's game and you see why Warner is more erratic than any top 10 QB.
  13. That's 9 home games counting playoffs. I found a good substitute (since I live a lot closer to Foxboro than Toronto): I'm going to watch the Bills beat New England in Foxboro for the 1st time since 2000. Then, since 10 games aren't enough, I'm going to see the Bills final game of the season, Super Bowl XLIII. Correction: I'm missing the 49ers game so I'll only make 10 games total.
  14. For the same reason we were underdogs at Jacksonville: We're on the road. The bettors underestimate us.
  15. Kiffin's $ are significantly more than Shanahan's. A good lawyer will get a judge to order seizure of something Davis owns and make Davis pay all court costs and all legal fees. Also a good judge will jail Davis for contempt if he doesn't comply with a court order. Don't go to the NFL, go to court. Go get him, Lane.
  16. That's before he realized that the nightlife & women in Buffalo are better than in Baltimore. Then he decided to stay in Miami for Spring Break.
  17. Davis is not senile! He knows what he's doing. Why is it that when anyone who is Davis' age says something that younger people disagree with, they declare him senile? Do you know what Davis is suffering from? -79 years of power and arrogance, thinking he can say or do anything he wants to and get away with it-that's a far cry from senility. Plenty of younger people act the same way-you can find a lot of them in Washington, DC.
  18. This coaching staff was also well ahead of the curve on the most important position on the team-Quarterback. They saw that Trent Edwards was a special player in camp last year and recognized that he was the long term answer. Now even though I've disparaged JP many times, most just in anger over the JP is better than Trent reactions of other posters last year & some still through pre-season, this staff realized that while JP may be a decent NFL QB, good enough to start somewhere else, if you have the opportunity to replace good with great, you do it every time. Two things I see from the QB decision. 1)Trent would have been the starter this year whether JP had gotten hurt or not last year in NE. 2) The staff feels that if Trent were to go down, JP is capable enough to keep this year's team going forward. They did not go out and sign a Cleo Lemon for big backup $ when they could have done something like this & just dump JP. I've always said that the coaches (yes even Gregg Williams & Mike Mularkey) see these players every day & know a lot more about them than any of us and to question their decisions to the point of being angry at them is done so from a position of ignorance-no matter how close one follows the team. Not giving a young player more playing time usually means the guy isn't ready yet or the guy above him on the depth chart is better at this point and gives the team a better chance to win now.
  19. I was thinking something along the same lines. Taking away the Bills games and the opponents are 4-7. Take away the dreadful Rams & the opponents are 4-4. The Jags & Seahawaks will make the playoffs. However, we do have a creampuff schedule since the only other sure playoff team we'll play is San Diego, with Denver, who should be 1-3 instead of 3-1, and the Jets also possibilities. Put a fork in NE, they're not going anywhere with Matt Cassell.
  20. Were you the ones who put the Psycho Ward 86 banner up at the Steelers/Ravens game that was shown on Monday Night Football?
  21. Ralph tried this with Wade & it didn't work. When they get to court, Davis will say he was fired for insubordination. When Davis is asked his definition of insubordination and he says that Kiffen wouldn't sign a letter of resignation after he demanded he do so, the judge will not only rule in Kiffin's favor, but will make Davis pay all court costs and attorney fees as well.
  22. I'd like it to be the edition right after the Super Bowl, with him holding the Lombardi Trophy.
  23. Yes, and he doesn't look much different than when he played with the Bills. He has Trent up to #2 for MVP.
  24. I didn't know Kelly Bundy grew up, dyed her hair, moved to Alaska & became Governor. When you put one fact into Kelly Bundy's brain another fell out, like the time they put so many prep facts into her brain, when they asked her about Al's football career at Polk High, the memory had been pushed out of her brain.
  25. We'll just have to wait for the Super Bowl to play a top team.
