  1. Ham and Scalloped potatoes, green bean salad, rolls, yams, jello etc. etc. Happy Easter everyone.
  2. I like it ! I hope TD is reading and taking notes.
  3. You are my sunshine is the song I sing to my lover and my children. Just the happy chorus part. The only other song that brings instant emotion for me is Amazing Grace. I start to cry even thinking about that song. I need therapy to work thru the issues and memories that song invokes in my past. I can hardly see what I am typing because I am thinking of that song.
  4. He's got a few good moves !
  5. This is obscure but the OTL tournament on Fiesta Island in San Diego during the summer. Absolutely a drunken babe fest and impossible to get on the Island. My favourite team is the 'Drunken Little Hula Bitches' ! I kid you not and you get the idea of the atmosphere !
  6. Exactly, who is not to say that evolution is God's creation.
  7. Not quite exactly correct. The problem with the California Lottery is that if the Lottery earns 100 million dollars for schools, then the state cuts back its contribution by 100 million dollars. So the schools never really benefit from the lottery. Only the state or the tax payers of the state actually.
  8. Like TD doesn't have better things to do with his time.
  9. Gaslamp District would be to visit for dinner and some night life in San Diego. After that you could 1) San Diego Zoo 2) Sea World 3) Scripps Aquarium 4) Mexico 5) Ball game at Pet Co park. 6) Bar in Pacific Beach 7) La Jolla Coves and classy restaurants in the La Jolla area 8) Wild Animal Park 9) Balboa Park and the many museums there 10) Water sports on the ocean 11) Skiing in the mountains 12) Desert activites like Dune buggies and ATV's in the huge sand dunes. There is so much to do, the sky is the limit.
  10. Ooops ! How did that happen? I put one answer per line.
  11. I'm just curious what other people think. I think he should trade Travis now and forget about the draft pick.
  12. Where's the bass-o-matic when you need one ? That is too funny ! Let kids snag fish them with treble hooks and that will thin them out !
  13. There was a wings and things in San Diego that was pretty good. I only bought there a few times since I cook my own wings. Do you need the best sausage in the world? My Uncle-in-law was a butcher in South Buffalo for years and makes the best sausage ever on the planet. If Icould supply with that you would be a monster success. PM me for details.
  14. Privatization is a good thing here. The govn't has been putting this money under a mattress for 50 years or so. We wouldnt be having this discussion if they invested the money or lent it out on real estate loans for the FHA etc.
  15. Ohhh Geeesh ! A cop married to a teacher. Some around here would call that blasphemy govn't dole welfare people that dont deserve anything because their job are so easy and are way over paid. They should live in a tent, eat crackers and water for meals each day. Wait a minute, prison sounds better. At least I dont have to work for my crackers and water.
  16. I think TD will get Shelton at some point with Az. Maybe when the draft starts or something to that effect.
  17. You are correct sir. My opinion as well. Hydrogen fuel cells seem like the ticket to me.
  18. Yes, right and completely paid for by the govnm't. She didn't contribute a penny. Ain't life grand !
  19. All of the responses here prove my point that being a teacher or admin is the hardest job in America. They have to put up with !@#$s like you all on a daily basis.
  20. Except for when a new political machine comes in and changes everything all over again. Retraining, new policies, procedures, etc, etc. It never stays constant.
  21. Then dont complain about a teachers salary. I dont complain about or begrudge you your salary.
  22. Following your 9 month theory. Teachers have trained for their profession. What job can they do in the other time that wouldn't be considered anything but minimum wage? Is it the teachers fault kids need time off from learning. Little Johnny cant go to school 50 weeks a year like an adult. Dont blame teachers for that. They need a fair salary for their profession. That same pay scale exists pretty much in California where $4100 bucks a month oesnt get you much. Your house payment or rent alone is going to be 1500 to 2000 a month. If you think it such a cruise with cushy benefits why dont you jump on the paork barrrel band wagon? No ? Could it be becuase you know its harder than you make it out to be. My wife pays most of her own salary into the pension. The govt doesn't match all that much if any. So spare me the pension thing.
  23. That was my first thought. Can that be right?
  24. I felt compelled to chime in on this thread. My wife is currently a Vice Principal in San Diego. She taught for 22 years as well and also holds a Special Ed. credential. So I have a pretty good idea about the ins- and outs in education. This post sounds like it could have come from anywhere in California aswell. The key pieces of information I noticed was that the median is around 50K per year. Sounds like a resonable pay to me. The handfull of cases are just that. A handful, as in very few. They are probably teachers with 55 years experience. In Cal. there are salary caps that prevent increases beyond x number of years of experience with the exception of cost of living raises Usually 1 or 2% when COLA is really 3.7 % Also the sentiment of this article and thread is that a teachers or administrators job is a cake walk and party everyday. It couldn't possibly be hard, compared to my job. That is far from the truth having observed many teachers and admins. Try controlling 30 kids (some with behavior problems or special ed as well) all day without raising your voice and using only nice words and trying to teach them as well. Administors having to cope with every jerkoff parent who becausen a school. they pay their taxes should be able to verbally berate every teacher and admin and they know more than every teacher and admin just because they are a parent? Forget that teachers and admin's have extensive training and years of experience teaching every little Johnny and Jane in the neighborhood with every learning problem and strength that each child posseses. No every parent by right of procreation alone knows better than everyone else on how to teach and run a school efficiently . Also where is written that teachers and admin's have taken a vow of poverty, how dare a teacher or admin aspire to have a decent wage for very hard work. America makes me sick when it comes to education. Every politician that comes along screws around with the educational system. There should be a qualified education czar that alone has the power to change policy and curriculum. Leave education alone and quite politicizing everything about education. I'm starting to think that the voucher system is the better way to go with education. This way every piss ant upstart that wants to start and run a school can and find out just how easy it is. OK I think I've got it out of my system now. Putting my soap box away.
