He was a QB coach (Raiders?) I think for one year. I understand and agree with your statements but who would is even willing to come? I am sorry but I would like someone that has some passion and fire to win. I can't think of any coach that wasn't a coordinator of some sort before they were hired as a coach in the NFL. TD interviewed Fox, Lewis, and Weiss anyone of them would have changed this franchise for the better. They were all coordinators and would have been good hires. But who would you want that is a coordinator now? Anyone?

Most have out clauses that allow for NFL jobs or particular college jobs. That is my albeit pedestrian understanding.

Average at best huh? 46–26 as a head coach doesn't sound average to me. He is not the only one that thinks Harbaugh would be a great coach. Getting a retread coordinator sounds like a recipe for average to me.

I would love this hire. I wish people would stop comparing ND to the rest of college football. They are at a huge disadvantage this is not ND of your parents era. High school kids are going to Florida and USC if given the choice. The academic standards at ND kill them. Don't give me any they are on TV every week either as a marketing ploy crap either many are on almost weekly. To judge this guys ability as a NFL HC based on his time at ND is foolish and borderline ignorant. We should be happy if he is even considering coming. I don't understand hiring anyone before hiring the GM. It sad that no matter who we hire it is going to divide the fan base. As a question did Cowher say NO forever or just till after the season. If we can't get either we should go after Zimmer.

I will tell you this playing for Spurrier Ramsey never had a chance. It would be a good signing. Losman had chance after chance with this team. Someone said he would be the best QB on the team and I agree. Not that it matters they rarely sign anyone they bring in anyway
