Question: how does IR work during the playoffs?  I mean there's only 3 games max left so if we IR someone, does that mean he's gone?

According to Sal C, if IR'ed now, the player is done for the year.

He has also stated that the limit on Practice Squad elevations are unlimited during the playoffs.

    Confirmed here: https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/nfl-playoff-rule-change-teams-now-have-unlimited-practice-squad-promotions-per-report/

  2. The Buffalo Bills are listing the following players as INACTIVE for today's Wild Card game against the Steelers:

    WR Gabe Davis

    S Taylor Rapp

    LB Tyrel Dodson

    CB Rasul Douglas

    OL Alec Anderson

    DE Kingsley Jonathan

    DT Poona Ford

Unfortunately no Rasul, but K. Elam gets his first action since coming off IR.

    Linval over Poona

For many years, the Bills played the 'Phins in Miami early in the season and then hosted them in the winter. I liked that arrangement until the Miami stadium sunshine advantage came into play. I like this even better - we avoid the heat and still get a "home game" against them in the winter.

I wonder if the clear advantage they got in last year's early game affected the league's decision to flip-flop the home and away games.

They flip flop them every year, at least in recent history. Next fall the Bills will be in the sun again. Unfortunately I don't think the league gives a flip about the unfair advantage (and severe health risks) those conditions present. The Bills can't put up sun shades unless the other team does (ridiculous League rules), and of course the Dolphins are already in the shade so they don't need them; thus they're denying the Bills to do so.

The OP mentioned Elam to IR. So I will ask here since the other Elam thread is receiving next to no traction.

    1. When was Elam injured?

    2. did that hamper his play this season  in your opinion, Or does he simply suck.

    3. Can a player be added to the IR and NOT be injured?

‘“Not everything’s been perfect, and he has had a nagging ankle,” Beane said. “We’re discussing whether to shut him down or not and let it heal. So he has been a scratch, I wouldn’t say he’s been a 100% healthy scratch, part of it has been it hasn’t worked out perfectly in the games so far.”’

Young men in white shirts hand out tracts at my house all the time but I haven’t seen the ones with the Bills logo. Sweet!

This is taking place on a tract of land at your house? So are you keeping track of those tracts?

It wasn't even that long ago that $20 million a year was good QB money. Things have ballooned really quickly over the last decade.

Peyton Manning was the highest paid QB in the NFL in 2010 and was making $19 million a season. We're more than double that now.

After adjusting for inflation that $19 million is $26,635,951 in today's dollars, which is still being doubled by the current Qb signings. It just shows how these salaries have incredibly ballooned.

These people are a combined 0-5 against josh allen. In those 5 games, Allen has 17 touchdowns and I believe 3 turnovers

My question was to Gunner Bill as to why he said "Miami to win fewer games than last year is a safe bet IMO." It was not about how Josh and the Bills would fair against them, but why he thought Miami would decline from last year when it appears they strengthened their roster.

This time of year is horrible.   No Bills news.  Just waiting for training camp to start, and hoping no one gets arrested for doing something stupid.   The measure of how bad it is is that people actually are reading this thread.

    I resemble that remark!

I remember reading his articles in the Times Herald when I was in college.  I'm 71 now.

Likewise, he was my source of Bills' news in my youth (not in my 70's yet 😀) as that was my family's newspaper down in that area. Unlike today's internet age with a plethora of info at your finger tips, one back then was dependent on a decent reporter to get any depth of football news.

  10. They converted base salary into a bonus, creating another $5.4 million in cap space.

Diggs’ cap hits now will be $14.8 million in 2023, $27.8 million in 2024, $27.3 million in 2025, $28.4 million in 2026 and $22.5 million in 2027.

It sounded like Miami had legit interest but I wonder if the trade they swung for Ramsey is going to change their interest level in Poyer now.  Don't think I have seen him linked to any other teams through the Rumor Mill.

The Raiders are supposed to be very interested.

Yea agreed. Does seem out of character for him. When the Titans benched him there was a lot about how he took it like a pro then he was a backup for a year in Vegas without any issues. Wonder if it is just VERY obvious to everyone that Ridder is not good. If that is the case this is a risk for Arthur Smith because he is about to hit the end of year 2 and that team is going nowhere. If he benches a better player when only two games out of 1st for a sucky kid then that locker room will get toxic fast.

Arthur Smith made it a point to say that Mariota's benching was "performance based" and not because he was likely going on IR. This isn't a tank job. Ridder looked good in the pre season games I saw; better than Mariota to me, who was generally seen as "a placeholder" here.  Further, Josh earlier this year said he was impressed by Ridder, who was out training with him at Palmer's place in CA. The Falcons are generally devoid of talent and not going very far unless Ridder is a miracle maker. I think the locker room will perceive the move as a positive.

  13. As a young kid I got his autograph when the Bills trained in a field at the Blasdell Motel (wow, hard to believe that now). Years later (2005ish) Jack was a speaker at a conference my wife was at. She told him I had gotten his autograph as a kid, so he wrote me a note and signed it. He was always approachable, upbeat and amiable.

We need to sign a receiver so we can let Gabe Davis' ankle heal properly.

However he was listed as FP, Full Participant, on WED. injury report. So he must be near healed up. I'm wondering if those 88 snaps he took in Miami really drained him and had a lasting effect. Diggs constantly took himself out of that game and afterwards had 2 IV's, yet Gabe played virtually every offense snap.
