1. The fact is the US does the same thing.  I worked for the Greenhouse Growers Marketing board a few years ago and I remember the US making up issues with our product just to close it from the border until it could be disproved.  There are trade barriers with lumber that are happening as we speak.  I guess turn about is fair play - but you don't want to mention any of that.

As far as my life being dictated to by my government thats an even bigger joke.  At least we vote for our government and don't get 30% or less turn outs for our elections.  At least our leader can speak with out screwing up and saying something stupid.  But hey you know whats best because it is obvious you have some very wise observations.

As I said I have no problem with the US - just the whinners who think the world owes the good old US - well guess what we don't.

Having said that I spend a great deal of money in US on vacations and what not.  For the most part Americans are intelligent, nice people who I am proud to be around. The same thing can be said about Canadians as well.

For the most part I have a great time hanging out with the canadian fans at the games, I just find you very annoying. For someone who apparently has a very tough time with spelling and grammar you don't hold back with the criticism of our President and his grammar. Is a "whinner" a good thing or a bad thing? Are you trying to say winner or whiner? I'll assume winner.

  2. I have lurked here for a few months, but this thread made me want to post:

    1) The Bills will never relocated to Toronto.  As pointed out by others here Toronto has difficulty supporting the Argos and the Blue Jays with the Raptors not far behind.  The only team that does well is the Leafs.

    2) I attend one Bills game a year and I think for the most part the atmosphere in Orchard Park is fantastic.  I can't see that being replicated in Toronto.

    3) I find the attacks on Canada as a country childish and inappropriate.  If you look at the track record we have supported our friends to the south and vice versa for a long time.  Canada has a population 1 tenth the size of the US...despite our geographic size we are a small country with limited resources.

Lets talk football instead of taking pot shots at each other.

I find taking pot shots at the people who attack canada as childish!

  3. You also don't have those lunatics gunning for you first when you mind your own buisness and don't start flaunting your muscles when you think someone might be a threat to you. Its amazing how much respect you get from places when you aren't flaunting your superiority over them and try to force your beliefs on them

    664662

Is that why I don't respect Canada...Because they are always trying to force their pacifist beliefs on me? Aren't you flaunting your superiority over the US in your post? Keep telling yourself that the radical muslims respect you. People don't respect you, you are just insignificant to them.

  4. Who says that Canada is being protected by the US? Maybe no one is trying to go after us cause we just don't do things to make the rest of the world hate us and try to destroy us?

    664590

It's easy to avoid offending anyone when you have someone else protecting you. You don't have to stand up to the lunatics running N Korea and Iran because you know the US will.

  5. I can see that but I can also see a whole lot more hypocrisy. Like nuclear armed countries that have no intention of getting rid of their weapons crying foul when other countries follow their example. The US and UK have both signed up to the non-profileration treaty. Contrary to popular belief, this is not just concerned with preventing countries from acquiring nuclear weapons. It also specifies that the nuclear powers should move towards full nuclear disarmament. I don't see much sign of that.  Do you not find it hypocritical that countries that are themselves renaging on their commitments to this treaty are the ones leading the charge against Iran for doing the same thing?

    664593

If a little hypocrisy keeps me from being irradiated by some lunatic muslims, I say pin the label on me now.

  6. Sounds like the same sound military thinking you used in your last invasion.  How's that one working out?  :w00t:

    664371

It must be nice to enjoy complete security at another countrys expense. Canada is like the scrawny, annoying, whiney kid who had a big tough friend that would protect him.

  7. I'm pretty sick of all the politicians pandering to the Bills fans to try and keep a football team in this city. If they can't make a profit here, or could make more, good bye Bills

    664111

I can't believe I just wasted 30 seconds of my life on this post!

  8. To get this thread back on topic.

The threat of using nuclear weapons is okay if it is only a threat (deterrent). But the administration has a penchant for following through with its threats (Iraq). First of all, I do not subscribe to the theory that if you think differently than me, you are wrong and I am going to punish you for that. What makes Iran's thinking irrational ? Just because we think so ? If I see someone walking on the street with his hands in his pockets, should I shoot him because he may have a gun and he may point it at me and then use it ? This is a plainly ridiculous way to interpret pre-emption.

Secondly, if we use nuclear weapons, how stupid would we be to point the finger at someone else and say they are not ratonal enough to not push the nuclear button ? We would be the ultimate irresponsible party for using nuclear power to enforce what we believe is right.

Lastly, right now would be the perfect time for Iran to attack the US, using our administration's logic. Think about it, we invaded Iraq because we believed they had WMDs and though they would use them against us. Aren't we the equivalent of Iraq and Iran is the US ?

This entire situation makes me mad to the point of pulling my own hair out. When will this ultra-conservative agenda stop ? Anger only breeds further anger.

    664437

The only way a threat is effective is if the person thinks you may follow through. That is why nobody fears the democrat threats of force. If you see someone with his hands in his pockets you could not shoot him because Liberals in Chicage have pre-emptively banned handguns for fear someone might shoot an innocent person. I guess when Liberals pre-emptively ban gun ownership by law abiding US citizens it is OK, but when Conservatives try to ban Mulsim extremists from owning nukes it is wrong?

Anyone who says the US is the equivalent of Iraq has some serious problems. And trust me, if Iran thought any time was the "perfect time to attack the US", it would not hesitate. Iran does not attack us because they know they would be destroyed...nothing else prevents a country like Iran from attacking us infidels!

If you really feel that the poor oppressed Iranians have such good points in this argument, why don't you take a trip over there and see how well you are treated as an American. When you don't make it out alive we can write an article about how they had the right to kill you because of their beliefs and we should not be judging them for it.

  9. MEXICO CITY, Mexico (AP) -- "The Great American Boycott" is spreading south of the border, as activists call for Mexicans to boycott U.S. businesses on May 1.

he protest is timed to coincide with a May 1 boycott of work and shopping in the United States that also has been dubbed "A Day Without Immigrants." The boycott, which grew out of huge pro-migrant marches across the United States, is designed to pressure Congress to legalize millions of undocumented people.

Mexican unions, political and community groups, newspaper columnists and even some Mexican government offices have joined the call in recent days.

"Remember, nothing gringo on May 1," advises one of the many e-mails being circulated among Internet users in Mexico.

"On May 1, people shouldn't buy anything from the interminable list of American businesses in Mexico," reads another. "That means no Dunkin' Donuts, no McDonald's, Burger King, Starbucks, Sears, Krispy Kreme or Wal-Mart."

For some it's a way to express anti-U.S. sentiment, while others see it as part of a cross-border, Mexican-power lobby.

In some cases, advocates incorrectly identified firms as American -- Sears stores in Mexico, for example, have been owned by Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim since 1997.

And ironically, the protest targets the U.S. business community, which is one of the strongest supporters of legalization or guest-worker programs.

"At the end of the day, boycotting would only hurt corporations that are backing what people want done in the immigration bill," said Larry Rubin, CEO of the American Chamber of Commerce in Mexico. Rubin is encouraging people to write to their legislators instead of boycotting.

Mexican groups are responding. Pablo Gonzalez, spokesman for one of Mexico's largest labor unions, the Federation of Revolutionary Workers and Farmers, said his organization will support a boycott against "at least four of the most important U.S. firms, among them Wal-Mart," Mexico's largest retailer.

Two other major labor groups -- the telephone workers' and auto workers' unions -- also are expected to join, Vigil said.

Even parts of the Mexican government have signed onto the protest.

"We are not going to be buying any products from the United States on May 1," said Lolita Parkinson, national coordinator for the National Board of State Offices on Attention for Migrants, which represents state government-run migrant aid offices.

"We want to show the power we have as Mexicans," said Carlos Chavez y Pacho, vice president of the chamber of commerce in Piedras Negras, across from Eagle Pass, Texas. Chavez y Pacho is also urging Mexicans not to shop in U.S. border cities on May 1, in part to protest what he calls arrogant behavior by U.S. customs officials and border officers.

Rafael Ruiz Harrell, who writes a column in the Mexico City newspaper Metro, predicted the boycott could give rise to a broader, pan-Latino movement.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

Boy, I don't even know where to start with this.

    1) Isn't "Gringo" a racist term? What if we had "Don't hire a spic day"?

    2) "..protest what he calls arrogant behavior by U.S. customs officials and border officers". Huh? Is to trying to protect your border arrogant? How does MEHICO treat people trying to come up their  southern border?

3)" the boycott could give rise to a broader, pan-Latino movement." Isn't that kinda of like "White Power" ?

    4) I have real trouble understanding the mindset of people from MEHICO that thing they are doing us a favor and we need to appreciate them. So they are doing all this work in the US as a favor? Because they are nice? No, it's because they get paid. And the money they sent back to MEHICO is that country's no source of income. Because their "economy" sucks, and hasn't ever produce jobs, in spite of all the resources they have. If the money that illegals sent back were cut off, wouldn't MEHICO completely collapse? Didn't the US bail out their economy when their currency was dropping like a stone in the 90's?

    4) Any one else just really really tire of these "protests"?

    5) Isn't May 1st a communist holiday? What is that telling us?

    662538

I've got a great protest idea! Instead of "A day without illegal immigrants", lets have EVERY day without illegal immigrants. That will really show those oppressive, mean, law abiding Gringos! Prepare for some serious backlash due to these protests. Americans will get really tired of hearing how mexicans are entitled to take whatever they want from this country because they don't agree with our laws. The same people who supposedly want nothing more than to be citizens in America have no problem attempting to harm the economy and screw the average American.

  10. I believe there are some jobs Americans won't do - for the prevailing wage.

Two industries that rely heavily on illegal workers working for low wages are farming (picking crops) and meat packing. There aren't many hard working Americans working those job for what the farmer/meat packer is willing to pay.

I believe that if you wanted Americans to do tough and unplesant jobs you could probably get them to do it, but you'd need to pay them more. Americans won't sleep 20 to a room in migrant farmhouses or live without a car within walking distance of the meat packing plant in North Dakota - illegals will and do.

What's the result? Larger profits for farmers/agribusiness/meat packers and lower food prices to consumers. Crack down seriously on illegals, replace them with Americans and see how expensive your next BLT is when the lettuce is $6 a head and the bacon is $6 a pound.

People rail against the illegals but fail to see that they do provide benefit to us as consumers the same way we benefit from cheap labor around the world making everything from our shirts to our DVD players. I firmly believe that if we could outsource our crops and meat packing all of those jobs would go to Mexico rather than the Mexicans coming here, but logistics dictate that can't happen so we are where we are.

    661855

They will do the jobs if you take away the option of sitting home collecting welfare and unemployment! I'll gladly pay $6 a pound for bacon if I make up for that in tax savings. No need to take 35% of workers income if we aren't paying for uninsured illegals' healthcare and government handouts to the lazy!

  11. Her turn ons are not applicable to this crowd either unless you count killing animals as love, and positive attitude definetly doesn't apply.

    661660

Huh??? Was that a swipe at hunters or just more babbling that is not intended to make any sense?

  12. We hear it all the time.  The illegals are only doing the jobs Americans won't do.  My brother owns a landscape business in WNY.  We talked today while he was working.  Guess who was helping him mulch a Home Depot in Rochester?  His kids!  Yup, out on Easter break and they were working for him along with a couple of other teenagers from the neighborhood.  What a novel concept.  When I was a kid, we mowed the lawns, cleaned the pools, babysat each other, washed dishes and flipped burgers.  What are the kids doing now?  Elighten me as I don't have children so I don't know.  That line is a major copout.

    661651

Why do we have "jobs Americans won't do" and welfare, food stamps, etc. If there are 12 million illegals doing these jobs, and surviving, couldn't we get rid of the criminalgrants and force anyone who wants government handouts to work these jobs instead of sitting home watching Springer?

  13. I know a lot of posters here reserve some barbs for Chuck Schumer.  He's not my favorite guy in the world, either, but I think as a senator he has his pluses and minuses.

What do all of you think about his apparent going-to-bat for Wilson and the Bills politically?  Do you appreciate it?  Do you feel as though it's merely posturing?  Do you like his effort, regardless of your feelings about the man?  I'm not looking to provoke here, I am somewhere in the middle on it.

    657473

There are few politicians I hate more than Schumer. If he helps to keep the Bills here, I will refrain from badmouthing him ever again. I am very skeptical, but maybe he will surprise me. The guy absolutely loves to be in front of a camera and if he thinks this will win him some face time he may put some effort into this.

  14. Great. When you folks on the right wake up to the insanity being waged, maybe we'll be able to stop this crap....too bad you buy their pr...

    656755

All that's left now is a claim of racism and we'll have your typical lefty response to everything! Just don't start providing any real solutions or they will take away your "Bush Hater Club" membership.

  15. Come now, did he really say anything we hadn't heard before?

    Uh, no.

    655565

Are you talking about Ralph or just referring to yourself in the third person? All we hear from you is how the Bills suck and Ralph is old and sucks. You actually put Ralph down for complaining?! He could never compete with you when it comes to complaining and whining. As you stated before, we are all suckers for continuing to support the Bills, yet you spend a lot of time on a Bills site. A lot of people on these boards are critical of the team, but still manage to offer insightfull comments and suggestions. You could learn something from them.

  16. The mainstream media isn't biased.  The mainstream media is advertising driven, and are more likely to put on stories that will titillate the audience rather than inform it.  It's a truism in media, that the mainstream audience does not want to be informed.

As long as the audience clings to the stereotypes you clearly describe, these news stories will continue.

My concern is that these organizations still carry the high air of operating as "News" divisions of their networks, when they have a closer proximity to Bruno, Borat & Colbert.

    655189

Good point, but they are only willing to throw white male Americans under the bus in order to entertain. You will not see the same story with blacks, muslims, females, or other minorities as the target of a racism sting.

  17. CHARLOTTE, N.C. - NASCAR said it was "outrageous" that "Dateline NBC" targeted one of its race tracks last weekend for a possible segment on anti-Muslim sentiment in the United States.

NASCAR said NBC confirmed it was sending Muslim-looking men to a race, along with a camera crew to film fans' reactions. The NBC crew was "apparently on site in Martinsville, Va., walked around and no one bothered them," NASCAR spokesman Ramsey Poston said Wednesday.

"It is outrageous that a news organization of NBC's stature would stoop to the level of going out to create news instead of reporting news," Poston said.

"Any legitimate journalist in America should be embarrassed by this stunt. The obvious intent by NBC was to evoke reaction, and we are confident our fans won't take the bait," he said.

NASCAR is in the final year of a broadcasting agreement with NBC Sports.

"'Dateline' is looking into this story," NBC said in a statement. "We were intrigued by the results of a recent Washington Post/ABC News poll and other articles regarding increasing anti-Muslim sentiments in the United States.

"It's very early on in our newsgathering process, but be assured we will be visiting a number of locations across the country and are confident that our reporting team is pursuing this story in a fair manner," it said.

    654589

It's funny, the horrible white male American that supposedly discriminates and harrasses all people that are different than themselves treats the Muslims fine. I wonder if a Hacidic Jew walking into a mosque would be harrassed. How about and white southerner with a Toby Keith shirt walking into a NAACP meeting. Tell me again how the mainstream media isn't biased?!

  18. Yes, the Bills will lose to the Pats in Week 1. But looking at the Miami game I think the Bills can take them. Culpepper won't be ready or he'll no doubt be rusty and the Losman to Evans connection has shown the ability to light up the scoreboard down south. I just don't think that Miami is as good as they and the media think they are. Remember us coming into last season after our late season winning streak? I'd love it if the Bills knocked them off their high horse in Week 2.

    654633

Next to Bruschi, Saban is the greatest person alive! Haven't you been paying attention to the media!

  19. Not a fan of starting off with 2 away games. Being a season ticket holder, it is hard enough to wait until Sept 10th to go to a game! Oh well, more time to plan the tailgate. I guess I can't complain too much, we had a nice run of home games for opening day. I love the cold weather games and we have more than last year.

  20. Good evening gentlemen, and thank you all for welcoming me into the Bills Ultra Hooligan community

2 brief remarks elucidating the Bills' situation at the moment:

    1. beginning with a retrospective look at the hiring of Mr. Jauron

Mr. Levy sir: you should be complimented for blocking out the paroxysms of the illiterate portion of the Bills ultras who called for the signing of Mr. Sherman

Mr. Jauron's academic resume is indicative of a certain potentiality gentlemen - and yes i understand there will be calls that this resume is not germane to the king of field sports - however, gentlemen -  let us repeat until our vocal area collapses, that this is now a league of the trainer, of the coach, of the strategist.

Mr. Jauron gives us immediate intellectual credibility at the Fuehrer position and coupled with the young Heidegger serving as our current GM provides the Bills with an unparalleled superiority of the neocortex.

    2. The draft

Gentlemen, some of you (why in English has the thou disappeared?) have called for the drafting of Mr. Ngata.

Some of you have called Mr. Ngata's apparent incompatibility with the cover 2 to be implemented by Mr. Jauron and Mr. Fewell as a myth.

Gentlemen it is not a myth, and the Bills at this critical juncture in our cosmology do not desire the appearance of the obese, the listless, the fatigued proletariat

And we can thank Odin that Mr. Levy understands that when you draft a proletariat (in the 1st round, in the top 10 no less gentlemen!) these traits of character are to be avoided as the American foreign policy avoids intelligence.

So perhaps you look towards me for an insight into what Mr. Levy will do?

    Two options gentlemen:

    1. Mr. Huff at #8. Why? The secondary is the foundational key to the OBRAMBA (defense in english, however Obramba is so much more pleasant to the tongue)

    2. A miniscule trade down (I am looking at you squarely in the face Fat Dennis Green) and a selection of Mr. Bunkley, whose DNA overwhelms that of the beloved Mr. Ngata.

Thank you for the time and space (in the Kantian sense)

    653913

You lost all credibility at "Viva la France"!
