  1. I would not take that at this point. Keeping him, our biggest need right now is for a LB, which at the 12 pick we are looking good to pick up. Draft a RB in the second if there is one we like still around, or a CB if we can't get Nick Harper/resign Thomas. If not, keep Willis, see if we can work out a reasonable contract to keep him, consider franchising him if he has a big year, or pick a RB high next year. As SRQ said, I would take a deal that got us a second (Willis and Holcomb for a second?), other than that, we hold every card at the moment.
  2. I think FA would finish off great if we can grab Harper to compete with Youbuty for the second CB spot. The only way we trade Willis right now is if we have a LB lined up (Cato June?). That would leave us free in the first round to grab a RB. Otherwise, hang on to Willis, draft Patrick Willis with the 1st round pick, then either grab a RB in the second if someone we like is still there, or look at CB/DL. Draft a RB in the 1st next year to replace Willis if we can't get a long term deal worked out.
  3. If we can sign Fletcher, I do think it will be a great boost to the off-season, as it allows us to focus on some other areas. If he is resigned, I could see us going after a FA cornerback, and allow Youbuty to move into the nickel position, and also look at signing one of the better FA guards (Dielman, etc). If this happens, I could see us going after a OT or OG in the first round, depending on how much the team likes Pennington/Butler/others, or potentially taking McGahee's replacement who can also help run the dual-backs system this year. Possibly look in the second round at a LB or OG/OG/RB (whichever they don't take in the first), and 3rd round at CB depth. I think that would put us on a pretty good track, but only my humble opinion
  4. I think the best plan for this would be keep Gandy, sign one of the better free agent guard, let the line coach figure out which one should man which guard position, and draft a guard in the 3rd or so to train to take over for Gandy in another year/two.
  5. I unfortunately feel we are going to lose out in the bidding war for NC. That being said, if it is anywhere near a reasonable price, I think we absolutely have to take a shot at keeping him. If the price is crazy (which is what it is shaping up to be), I think we are better off keeping Fletcher at a decent price, and spending the money we would have spent on NC on a vet. CB and upgrade the DT or DE position. It has been said many times that a great defensive line will make a decent CB look great. I don't think we have that great DL, and thus we need better defensive backs. Upgrade the DL and the need (not the want) for an great CB goes down...
  6. A little bit of love in an SI article.... http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/writ...ex.html?cnn=yes on the second page.
  7. i am watching this game on sopcast, and I have to say I am proud of the team hanging really tough the first quarter or so when neither team could get anything going. They are showing a lot of heart, and they are playing like they know they can win.
  8. Ya, I would be at the game if I wasn't headed home for winter break from college. That being said, does anyone know of a good place to catch the game Sunday in the Saratoga Springs area?
  9. If I remember correctly, wasn't the 4th and inches from near the bills endzone. Had they gone for it and not gotten it, SD would have had the ball deep in bills territory (almost garunteed 7 points). Yes I know they got it anyway, but had the bills gone for it Jauron would have been absolutely roasted.
  10. Thank you for your service, and come back safe.
  11. For all those who think downstate was responsible for electing Spitzer, go to this link.... http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2006/pages/res...G/00/index.html It was all of New York that voted for him.
  12. Hopefully Buffalo got their replacement for Clements in Youbuty this year.
  13. Just wait for the "we need to draft offensive linemen early" and "no more skill players in the first round" comments.....not saying I personally disagree with you,
  14. Thanks a ton for the list of stations. I am a fellow saratogian at college at Geneseo. Its nice to know the list for those sundays I head home.
  15. Ya, I missed the immigrant question too. Got the rest though, being a political science student in college helps things a bit. There was a news article the other day that said something like only 33% of high school students could locate Louisiana on a map......kinda sad when you think about it
  16. From PTI: Fair to say Marv is 80, but draft doesn't tell anything for 3 years. Mentions Youboty falling and how the experts had him going in the first. They both trust Marv Levy over draft experts. Don't know what draft will yield. People shouldn't be grading the draft yet. They are with Marv over any so called Draft Gods.
  17. Just a bit off topic, PTI has a "Mail Time" about to come on, and the leading topic/piece of mail is apparently the bills.....stay tuned
  18. I agree with the majority of opinions here so far, there doesn't seem to be any real reason to release Troy. He has a low cap hit, a lot of experience, and is a valuable insurance policy against injury, seeing as he could fill in in an emergency at CB or if he loses the FS spot.
  19. It is slightly depressing that we don't have anyone yet. I know, I know the chance of finding someone worthwhile is.....something large, but I can't help but think the more the merrier.
  20. After all the complaining of reaching too high and trading up, I am extremely surprised to hear people wanting us to trade up yet again.....ahh the irony of this board
  21. More faith than I would have had with you in the front office
  22. well said nodnarb, it is amazing how many people believe that they know where such and such a person should be picked. I have more faith in the staff at OBD than in 99% of the people posting here, myself included
  23. Yes, because the Bills had the 4th pick and were able to take D'Brick......
