  1. Maybe I'm old school but there are some basics to follow when build up a team. 1) It all begins up front. You have to have a good offensive and defensive line first. Everyone else looks much better if you have good linemen. 2) When drafting in the first round, draft the expensive positions first. First Round picks should be spent on QB's, OT's, D-Line, CB's. Safeties, RB's, LB's are far cheaper in free agency. 3) When following guideline #2 in the early rounds of draft, draft the best player available not what you need. 4) Aggressively trade down in the draft for more picks, not up. Success with 50% of 10 or 11 picks is better than 50% of 7 or 5. 5) Get young free agents with potential (cheaper) instead of overpriced over the hill has-beens. 6) Good coaches develop schemes that best use the players you have. Bad coaches try to fit players into their system. Transistion and growth take time. Pay the money for good coaches who can train and get the most out of younger players. 7) Character matters. I'm not going to point out the Bills mistakes but when you look at the guidelines, mistakes will come to mind.
  2. 1) ESPN is a a children's network owned by Disney. 2) Don't let your mood and attitude be swayed by the children who go there. 3) Everyone team has up's and downs and bragging about your team doesn't last long and putting down others for liking a team is downright foolish. 4) I do not think people posting at ESPN are representative of the Packers' fanbase as a whole. 5) Listen to your boardmembers who made the trip to Lambeau Field. They will tell you how nice they were treated. 6) Pick your battles. In 1988 the Packers went 4-12 but they beat the evil vikings twice. Those were wonderful wins. 7) Enjoy the game that's what is most important. If you want to discuss game strategy with opposing fans try a site like this one http://www.packershome.com/ForumsPro/viewforum/f=1.html 8) I'm sorry your feelings got hurt.
  3. I was out of my elimination challenge week 1. I went with the Chargers over the Chiefs. I think you people would not be so pesimistic about the game if you visited some Packers boards and looked at their concerns about the game. They are not buying into all the media hype like the NFL network's Bills at Packers video: http://www.packers.com/media-center/videos/Playbook-Packers-vs-Bills/17272fd4-6cdb-4b6e-8774-6fb2bf114c75 I'll be the first one to tell you the Packers were just plain lucky that Aaron Rodgers was still on the board at #24 in the 2005 draft.
  4. Wow. Being a Packers fan I know the Packers have some weak spots. Perhaps you are overestimating them. If the Bills O-line can pick up the blitzes protecting the QB and the QB can be accurate downfield your chances improve. Don't try to run the ball. Last season the Packers defense was #2 overall in the NFL and #1 against the run. The Bills best chance is by throwing the ball a lot and hoping to get into a shoot out type game.
  5. Actually while you are more excited you are also more nervous because there are no sure things in football. Especially early in the season when the scouting report is less than complete. BTW the forcast is for overcast skies, slight wind from the NW 5mph(left to right on television screen) temperature in the low 60's with a 20% chance of rain. Almost ideal conditions for a football game.
  6. This is not an exceptional event for the Packers. Packers players go to almost every charity event in the area. Even during the season players are visiting hopitals and attending events. Remember the Packers are a nonprofit corporation. All the concession stands at Lambeau Field are operated by community and charity groups. The money they earn goes into these groups. The two preseason games are called the Shiners game and the Bishop's Charities game because of the large donations the Packers make from the proceeds. Because the Packers are nonprofit, are very involved in the community, and are owned by their fans, they have an exceptional reputation in the community. The sense of community will always be there. Even when they are losing they will always sell out Lambeau Field. It comes from many such acts like the one in this story done by the Packers for many decades. It is a large part of why I am Packers fan. I am not bragging or putting anyone else's team down but if you check the Packers web site community tab or the Green Bay newspaper over time you will find such actions routine. I'm sure the Packers would thank you all for the kind words. I probably should shut up at this point but I want to add one thing about the Bills. Ralph Wilson has been one of the best owners in the NFL. I know much of his charity work goes unrecognized by most (except when that Bills' player was saved from being paralyzed). I sure hope when Ralph is gone that his franchise does not fall into the hands of a Jerry Jones, Al Davis or Daniel Snyder type. It would not only be bad for the Bills it would be bad for the NFL.
  7. Unlike you folks I have seen both play. Meredith will likely contribute much more than Brohm. Meredith has potential but he has to be coached up like any rookie. The Packers needed help on their line and drafted Meredith but it takes time to develop rookies. He will improve. He just wasn't good enough for a roster spot in Green Bay. Brohm is not the savior of the Bills franchise. He is a long term gamble and salvage project. He doesn't cost much and you don't get much. He is a noodle armed QB scared to throw the ball with confidence. It is a coin flip if he even finishes his 2 year contract. He will never start for the Bills. Your QB's are much better. Nobody in Green Bay dislikes the Bills for grabbing practice squad players. If they had any ability they would be on a regular squad. They were on the practice squad for perceived potential rather than any demonstarted ability. I am really amused at the crazy comments here about Brohm. You really won't until August. Then you can write excuses like he is still learning the offense of whoever is coaching then. Brohm's next stop is the CFL.
  8. You obviously do not know what you are talking about and have never seen the guy play in exhibition season at the NFL level. You have blind hope that a practice squader will start for your team!! Stupid. Wait until you see what the Bills paid for. He is not 1/4 as good as Craig Nall.
  9. Brian Brohm came to Green Bay as a rookie needing development. It hasn't happened. He still looks like a rookie. He is not a fast decision maker yet. The one thing the guy needs is lots of nurturing and confidence building. The Packer would have liked to keep him as their 3rd QB even though he was only worth a practice squad spot. The comparisons to Craig Nall are not valid. Craig Nall was a much more polished and accomplished QB who had some good NFL performances. Nall had greater arm strength. Brohm is none of that. Brohm really doesn't have an NFL arm to throw a ball very deep. He doesn't have the zip on the ball to get it into tight spots. He is still learning the game. Instead of making plays he is concerned with not making mistakes. Without an NFL arm, he lacks confidence to make the throws he should make. He really has some psychological problem with being able to throw the ball with confidence. If he had ability you would not be getting him so cheap. The odds of success are about 10-15%. 50-50 if he completes the 2 year contract as a Bill.
  10. If the playoffs were next week the Bills would be 13th in the AFC. 1st Round Bye 1) Colts Record (9-0) > (7-2) Bengals 2) Bengals Record (7-2) > Broncos Divisional Leaders 3) Broncos Conference Record (5-2) > (4-3) Patriots 4) Patriots Wild Cards 5) Steelers Conference Record (4-2) > (4-3) Chargers 6) Chargers Record (6-3) > (5-4) Jaguars The Rest in Order: 7) Jaguars Conference Record (4-2) > (5-3) Ravens 8) Ravens Conference Record (5-3) > (4-3) Texans 9) Texans Record (5-4) > (4-5) Dolphins 10) Dolphins Head to head win over Jets 11) Jets Record (4-5) > (3-6) Titans 12) Titans Head to head win over Bills 13) Bills Record (3-6) > (2-7) Chiefs 14) Chiefs Conference Record (1-4) > (1-6) Raiders 15) Raiders Record (2-7) > (1-8) Browns 16) Browns If it were time to draft the Bills would draft 8th. No cigar.
  11. That whole FU is just the wrong attitude. It is not just what Marv did for the Bills but what he has done for the entire NFL. Marv didn't sabotage the team. He truly tried. At his age he did not have to work but he sincerely wanted to try and help the Bills. But he is a coach and not a personnel guy. Like any other talent you have to pay the dues and learn what you are doing. Marv was a rookie at it. Matt Milan was a player and announcer but that hardly qualified him as a GM. His rookie decisions showed. Knowing football does not make someone qualified to be a good GM.
  12. So far using the criteria for draft selection based on games to date, Here is the 2010 selection order: 1) Bucanneers 2) Lions (coin flip) 3) Rams (coin flip) 4) Browns 5) Chiefs 6) Raiders 7) Redskins 8) Bills 9) Seahawks 10) Titans 11) Jets 12) Bears 13) Panthers 14) 49'ers 15) Dolphins 16) Jaguars 17) Packers 18) Giants 19) Texans 20) Raven Positions 21-32 filled by playoff teams. At #8 the Bills can still get the top guy at a position.
  13. That's funny. Demeanor = coaching scared Jauron's demeanor did not lose the game. It was a fumble that prevented the defense from getting a breather. Demeanor or fear had nothing to do with it.
  14. It is one thing to be beaten by another team. It is another thing to lose through your own mistakes and bad play.
  15. That Packer defense is looking real good. Turnover after turnover.
  16. The game is going real well so far. Offense and Defense of the Packers looks good.
  17. Zero!! He was merely exercising his 2nd Amendment Rights!!
  18. This is completely unjust. His 2nd Amendment Rights were violated. How can such an unConstitutional law exist?!!!! We must stop giving up our rights to the government totalitarians!!
  19. http://www.greenbaypressgazette.com/articl...1/90305070/1978 Thirty Wisconsin food pantries are benefiting today from an online contest in which Green Bay Packers fans helped the team win the Campbell’s Chunky soup’s “Click for Cans” contest. As truck after truck pulled up to receive the donations, Packers’ defensive backs Will Blackmon and Aaron Rouse helped to load crates of soup outside the Associated Bank Gate on Lambeau Field’s west side. It’s the seventh consecutive year the Packers have won the online food drive, securing more than 17,000 cans of Chunky soup for Wisconsin food pantries. In addition, this year Associated Bank, a longtime partner of the Packers, joined the effort donating another 11,200 cans to the cause for a total of 28,200 cans of soup to be distributed to 30 Wisconsin area food pantries. “Wow, I cannot believe how many pallets of soup are here. This is pretty amazing,” said Laura Sankey, Packers senior vice president of marketing and sales. “Way to go.” The online food drive contest occurred during the 2008 football season and asked fans to click on a National Football League team. The team with the most clicks won. “Green Bay Packers really do have the best fans in the world,” Sankey said. ******************************************************************************** ********************* Thank you all for voting and making a real contest of it. Congratulations to the Bills for being the winning AFC team.
  20. He obviously left quite an impression. No preseason playing time. He is one of 43 current Packers who are eligible for the practice squad after being cut. From this it looks like he'll be cut to sign draft picks.
  21. http://www.packers.com/team/players/quinn_johnny/ The Packers sign a WR who was with the Bills last year. Johnny Quinn Please don't ask who because I'm asking. This guy is about 10th on the Packer depth chart with no chance of making the team but does he have practice squad potetial?? Just curious if anyone remembers anything about him from last season.
  22. It is a very dishonorable thing to do and they should be called cheaters. The team is not nearly is as good as their local ESPN claims they are. Brady is not as good of a QB as some of the media think. The only reason it isn't more of a scandal is because Commissioner Goodell let them off very lightly. The initial punishment was mild and given before the investigation was complete. The head coach should have been suspended for at least a year. Many are still angry about the light discipline.
