  1. Ever since MS was signed, Lindell has turned into a (dare I say) pro-bowler.....almost.
  2. 2 Leaders lost = offset by the loss of 2 egomaniacs. The real leaders are the classiest man alive (Marv) and a classy coach as well. The team will find new leaders, and the team will reflect their fearless leaders. Donahoe did some good things, but the Bills lost their character. Marv is bringing it back.....just like the "glory days."
  3. One thing that hasn't been mentioned is the class that Marv Levy still has towards others. TKO took a chance with the Bills, and was all class. He never complained about his time here. But he still wants a chance at the playoffs. Marv could have given him to any team, but he gave him to a team that still has a great chance to at least make it to the playoffs. Just two years ago, they were in the superbowl. Marv is a class act. He leads by example. This team, and everyone playing under him will reflect his character. Those outside the organization will want to play for the Buffalo Bills. ML has brought back respect for the Buffalo Bills. Here, here for Marv!
  4. I do like Oklahoma products ( I know, different school) who have injury questions and fall in the draft. The ones that can do it all, catch, run, block....and are just gamers. Oh, that sounds like TT! maybe AP?
  5. That's what I thought. Urlacher was just an athletic freak, turned LB. How did Coy Wire do at the end of the season? I'm hoping his athletic abilities can make him fit in nicely while we wait for a LB to mature. London was a great tackler and leader while he was here. But he was not an attacker - more of a defensive LB. In other words, he would wait and react, instead of attack and react.
  6. So does Patrick Willis fit the bill? I've never seen him play, so I really wouldn't know. Would a big safety, converted to LB, fit the mold? How does and did Coy Wire do when he was playing LB?
  7. What is more important? AN aggressive, athletic LB like Urlacher or a lockdown CB like ....???.... I can't even think of one at the moment. Seems that the front line and LB corps are supposed to put so much pressure on the QB, that the CB job is just not to get beat deep. So, who is the most athletic LB out there? Safety is a very important position in this defense, we got ours last year. Marv spent a high pick on DT last year. Seems like this year ML needs to pick his athletic LB this year, to complete his defense. Comments?
  8. If this isn't all about the money, then I don't know what is. From first to last. Wow......
  9. Good point. The cover 2 relies on attacking linebackers to help stop the run, from what I've read. I wouldn't even call my self a beginner or a novice and understanding this Defense, but we have the safety, that is incredibly important, now we need the attacking LB and a shutdown corner. Big (huge) positions to fill of course. I don't think the Bills had anything against LFB. In fact, what's not to like? Sure tackler, high character guy, a leader.... He just didn't fit the defense. Neither does TKO...unfortunately.
  10. How sad. Brought a tear to my eye. Reminscing about the time when the Bills were THAT bad. Good ol' Drew!
  11. WHOA!!!! I guess Ralph really does want to win before he leaves....
  12. The elite team of the 90's, Marv's team always had an incredible Offensive Line. Started off at C with acquiring Hull, then it all fell into place. With the signings of these 3 OL's the priority has been made clear. Time in the pocket improves JP as much as experience. Now Rosenhaus can shut up about the poor line (coudn't disagree with him at the time). WM has to put up or shut up. I'm sure that if he performs, no one is going to complain about signing him to an extension anymore.
  13. All the descriptions sound like the second coming of TT> Good hands, good runner, not explosive speed....
  14. With a High MOTOR!
  15. Those are too good. he's great as a MIME!
  16. What a game! Great coaching. Great faith in his players.
  17. Good point, in the 4th week, after 4 straight 100 yard games, trade him. Of course, let's make sure we have a capable starter from the 2007 draft first.
  18. The Marv Levy, Bill Polian era shows that DB's and OL's are the most important in the first round....once the QB situation is established. Skill positions can be found elsewhere. Some Notables and how they were obtained. RB: Thurman Thomas (2nd round) WR: Andre Reed (4th Round) WR: James Lofton (FA) WR: Don Beebe (3rd) TE: Pete Metzelars (FA) DE: Phil Hansen (2nd) Of course having a #1 pick like Bruce Smith doesn't hurt either! It's probably going to be a "best available athlete" pick at #12. Don't know if there is going to be a dominate CB at #12. What if Adrian Peterson is available at #12?
  19. Looks like the draft should help us out. Strengths according to this guy is DT, DB and OT. http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/story/9894475
  20. Thanks Moosehead for the inept Dolphins offense as well! I think he probably felt bad for what he did to the Bills, so he just paid us back today for those mistakes.
  21. More than even all the player signings, were the front office signings. Fairchild, AVP, Turk get all the credit for grooming Losman (The Future). Whoever made the decision to shuffle the OL deserves the Coach of the Year award. And to do that mid season! Brilliant! To have a coach who knows how to make the correct half time adjustments......PRICELESS!
  22. Awesome point! By the way, up until this year, when was the last time that we could say that the Bills won on big plays? Like him or not, Losman has an incredible arm! In the windy stadium no less! The Fish lost because they didn't have a QB that could survive in this wind. I have to give TD credit for this pick. But. also give credit to Marv for getting the right people to groom this guy! I love the BILLS! Big plays or not!
  23. The decrease in penalties correlates to the improved discipline on this team. It's been awhile since we've seen a team that has decreased their penalties. Not since Marv was coach really. Even yesterday, I was in the doubting mode. After a good special teams play, I was just waiting for the flag. At the half, I was waiting for the collapse. Jauron has this team pretty disciplined. Their second have adjustments have been great too. Haven't been able to say that since Marv either.
  24. By MATT HIGGINS Published: November 30, 2006 ORCHARD PARK, N.Y., Nov. 29 — J.P. Losman was the last of four quarterbacks selected in the first round of the 2004 N.F.L. draft, but in the what-have-you-done-for-me-lately world of pro football there was grumbling in Buffalo that the Bills had squandered their pick. Skip to next paragraph N.F.L. Scores/Schedule Schedules: A.F.C. | N.F.C. Standings: A.F.C. | N.F.C. Teams | Statistics Transactions Injuries: A.F.C. | N.F.C. Discuss the N.F.L. Giants Team Page Schedule/Results Statistics | Roster | Injuries Depth Chart | History Discuss the Giants Jets Team Page Schedule/Results Statistics | Roster | Injuries Depth Chart | History Discuss the Jets What a difference a month has made for Losman. Buffalo has won three of its past four games, and Losman engineered the winning score during the final possession in two consecutive games. The Bills (5-6) have managed back-to-back wins for the first time in more than a year, renewing hopes — slim as they may be — for a playoff berth, their first in seven years. A wild-card berth will probably be determined here on Sunday against the San Diego Chargers (9-2). The game will feature another quarterback selected in 2004, the Chargers’ Philip Rivers, taken fourth over all, in a trade with the Giants. Young quarterbacks aside, the similarity of the teams’ offenses end there. San Diego is the N.F.L.’s highest scoring team, averaging 32.1 points a game; Buffalo scores 17.4. Although he is not close with Rivers, or Eli Manning and Ben Roethlisberger — the other quarterbacks taken in 2004 — Losman said he had monitored their careers. “We all keep tabs on each other,” said Losman, who was the 22d pick over all. “It’s all just a curiosity thing really. It’s fun and exciting to see who’s doing what — who was right, who was wrong.” At the moment, Losman and Rivers are doing right; Roethlisberger and Manning have had their stars dimmed this season. Rivers’s passer rating is 94.5, seventh in the league; Losman (84.1) ranks 12th; and Manning (76.0) is 23rd and Roethlisberger (72.3) 24th. Roethlisberger, selected 11th in 2004 by Pittsburgh, became a starter as a rookie and led Pittsburgh to a Super Bowl title last season. But this season he leads the N.F.L. in interceptions (19) for a struggling team (4-7). Manning was picked first over all in 2004 and became a starter late in his rookie season. He led the Giants to the playoffs in 2005, but has foundered in 2006, throwing 15 interceptions, and the Giants (6-5) have lost three consecutive games. Rivers, brought along the slowest of the four, is having the best season. He had only played four games and thrown 30 passes before becoming San Diego’s starter following the departure of Drew Brees in the off-season. Over 11 games, he has completed 65 percent of his passes and has just six interceptions. Losman’s career has been a series of ups and downs. He was named the starter in 2005 following Drew Bledsoe’s departure to Dallas. But after a 1-3 start he was replaced by the journeyman Kelly Holcomb. “When you lose, the quarterback is going to take all this blame,” Losman said. “Sometimes it’s rightfully so. But 99 percent of the time you needed everybody on this team for things to work. I’m talking about offense, defense, special teams.” Named the starter again to begin 2006, Losman seemed at a nadir only three weeks ago. In consecutive games against Green Bay and Indianapolis, he attempted a mere total of 27 passes. But a week after a 17-16 loss to the Colts, who were unbeaten at the time, the Bills’ offensive coordinator, Steve Fairchild, cut his quarterback loose in a 24-21, last-minute victory at Houston. Losman threw for a career-high 340 yards to six receivers. He had a career-high passer rating (111.7) and tossed the winning touchdown pass to Peerless Price in the end zone with 13 seconds remaining. Last week against Jacksonville, a team with a legitimate shot at a playoff berth, Losman completed 21 of 28 passes in a 27-24 win, including a 30-yard strike to Roscoe Parrish that set up a winning 42-yard field goal by Rian Lindell as time expired. On the pass to Parrish, Losman rolled left on a broken play and waved for his receiver to go downfield. Parrish made an leaping catch, but after practice Wednesday he gave credit to Losman. “It’s sort of like backyard football to me,” Parrish said. “I try to get open once I see him scrambling to my side. Somehow he just sees me downfield and always completes the ball to me.” Among the quarterback class of 2004, Losman is the best scrambler, but he has learned to stay in the pocket, too. During victories over Houston and Jacksonville, he has completed more than 70 percent of his passes. “We’ve shown the coaches we want some more down the field throws,” Losman said. “We’re starting to get those, and we’ll have to continue to connect or we’ll have to cut back.” Buffalo’s turnaround coincided with an offensive line shakeup following three straight losses in October. In order to better protect Losman’s blind side, left guard Tutan Reyes was replaced by left tackle Mike Gandy. Right tackle Jason Peters filled Gandy’s vacant spot at left tackle, and the rookie Terrance Pennington took Peter’s spot at right tackle. During the Bills’ first seven games, Losman was sacked 21 times and threw 6 interceptions. But he was not sacked against Jacksonville, and he has thrown only two interceptions during the four games since the offensive line was retooled. Bills Coach Dick Jauron has kept tabs on the careers of quarterbacks selected with Losman in the first round. Asked about similarities between Rivers and Losman, he said, “It appears to me both of them are developing into leaders on the field. ... Two, in my opinion, good young quarterbacks.”
