  1. So sayeth the closet Pats fan.  Oh and yes, I've watched a LOT of Pats games over the years, which is why I say what I say.  And re-read what I wrote above.  He's a good QB, but he's way overrated, and without an amazing defense and coaching staff, he's not nearly as good.

Whatever. You're a friggin homer. To me, win loss records count. Execution counts. What WR that Brady throws to is better than Moulds? Hmmm? What RB in those two SBs is as good as Henry or McGahee? None.

I rest my case. I hate the SOB, but he's not overrated.

  2. Although I am not here to argue about Brady being or not being one of the greatest quarterbacks ever, I am here to say that I thoroughly enjoyed that picture, as well as watching the video replay of it on ESPN. There are few things in life as enjoyable as watching Brady get splattered so hard he coughs up the football and his helmet at the same time (not to mention the padding over his earhole as well).

That's certainly something I can agree with. He's a great QB, but there's nobody I'd rather se get pounded into the earth. I hate the fuggin pats.

  3. 6-10 or 7-9 can still be realistic, but our team has to give Drew some time to throw.

My prediction is that we'll be giving Losman time to throw instead of Drew. He is either going to get hurt because he's been hit so much, or if we keep losing he's going to get benched so we can develop Losman.

  4. According to MM, Shaw was cut because he was not productive enough in games and in practice.

If I was a player I'd be tempted to go to MM's office and ask if I was productive enough in practice.  What the heck does "productive in practice" mean?

    Haven't you ever watched "Rudy"?

  5.

I see many of the same philosophies with the Bills. People get pissed that Buffalo does't often make a huge splash in FA, or have huge names at all positions. I think everyone can agree that having the biggest names is not important. Having a plan is. Redskins are an example of how NOT to run a team. They will continue to suck as long as they have an idiot impulsive owner.

Of course, it is taking a while to pay off for us, but over the long term I don't think we'll see many of those huge purges that we saw during the Butler years and right after.

  6. In my opinion, your job as a manager is to put people in position to succeed. Your job is to make their job easier - not the other way around.

Not many people like interviewing. Not many people are good at it. Your job in the interview is to allow the person to convince you that they are good at what they do, qualified for the job, and you should hire them. Amazingly, some very talented people are not good at convincing people of this in an interview.

An easy way to get to the meat of what someone can do in an interview is to lead someone down a path to a point where they can articulate the information you want to know.

For example, instead of starting with a question like, "Tell me about a situation where you had to deal with a difficult person," you can start by asking them about the types of projects they worked on. When you know about a few projects, you can lead them to that question as you learn about their roles on the project.

It's kind of like trying to get a girl to go home with you. You don't ask them to come home and get nekkid immediately, you need to finesse it a bit more.

  7. TD: "Hello 31 GMs. I have a player available. He isn't young, and he sucks. He does the moonwalk after a 5 yard catch when the team is down 20 pts. Not only that, he will fumble away 2 point conversions (for the game), drop passes and sometimes gets hit in the head with them. What are you willing to give up?"

    GMs: "Have a nice day."

    It is that simple.

So, um, what's your point?

  8. I hope the answer wasn't that they wanted to go in a "different direction." That's a stock BS answer. It tells us nothing, and at this point with this team we deserve to know a bit more about it.

I'd expect him to say something like this:

"Bobby is a great guy and a good player. We just felt that his downfield blocking wasn't what we needed in our current scheme. Additionally, we didn't feel that he had a good grasp of the playbook at this point in the season, which caused him to make some mistakes. We're sorry things didn't work out with him, and we're sure he'll find a productive role on another team."

Did he say something like that, or was it the same BS "Different direction" thing?

  9. well then I'll just have to say that this was stupid.

more questionable moves...i don't get it.

    68631[/snapback]

I have to agree here. Not stupid to get rid of him, but stupid to get rid of him without getting anything in return.

Of course, we probably don't know the whole story. Unless he did something bad (like missing meetings, screwing Donahoe's daughter, etc), I don't understand the reasoning behind it. Maybe we'll find out more from someone's inside sources.

  10. Shaw has some value, even if its a 5th round pick, he has trade value. Some teams like the Chiefs have a ton of injuries at WR and they might be willing to part with a backup guard or center, which we very well might need with Teague out and Tucker moving in.

Absolutely. I hope it's a trade. Even if it's for a kicker or draft pick or something. Hell, even a few cheerleaders would be nice, not that there's anything wrong with our current ones.

Shaw is sort of a goofball. YOu could see him horsing around constantly at camp, and he has missed an awful lotta hot reads. The ball hitting him in the back was his fault, not drew's.

I'm confused by Shaw. He's made some clutch plays over the past two years, but has done some dumb stuff like run the wrong route or get hit in the back with the ball when he should be catching it. I guess I don't know enough about the pass routes to know if he's doing the right thing. He has good hands and decent speed, so maybe that's what has kept him on the team.
