1. It's a great move. Basically you've got a bunch of idiots in the press trolling for bad quotes so they can write a nasty story. They'll bother the players until they get one.

The job of the press is to be objective in it's reporting. Currently, some aren't doing that. Some are editorializing and creating a situation that could be unhealthy for the team.

It also allows the team members to concentrate on football without worrying about what they'll say to the press.

  2. i'd feel more confident with shane matthews at qb.

pat pat pat, no field vision, low pass, high pass, sack

and it ain't our coaches, folks.

I'm a bledsoe supporter, but he's been poor today. The sacks weren't really his fault, but he's the only one that makes those bad passes.

  3. The ball hit his fingernails, not his hands. Big difference. You people who blame Travis whenever the opportunity presents itself make me sick.

No one ever says a damn thing about any of our other offensive players. Moulds had a huge fumble last week, hasn't made an appearance today ....oh wait he just dropped a pass. That was probably Travis's fault too. Josh Reed and Lee Evans...any criticism of these players? Nope....it's all Travis bashing....and he's our GOD D*** MVP.

I think Willis would be effective today, so I'm not saying we should stick with him for all four quarters. But I will defend a guy who does what he does, and yet has to put up with so much BS from the fans.

Are you kidding? I love Travis. He's my favorite bill. I'm just calling it as I see it. He should have caught the ball.

  4.

Just read your post, Todd. "As bad as some of Drew's throws have been today, Travis needs to catch that ball." Doesn't that say a mouthful? To paraphrase your message, "Hey, Drew can't make many good throws these days, so whenever he gets off a pass that isn't just plain awful, our receivers need to bail him out by making great catches."

Nice try. Don't put words in my mouth. Unless I'm mistaken, Henry had both hands on that ball. A pro needs to catch that ball.

Again, don't put words in my mouth.

  5. I know we'd rather wallow in our own self-pity on this Board, but among the (many) positives I saw on Sunday was the brief return of the No Huddle.  When they did it the crowd went wild - I hope they continue to use it this year.

And you know what? Drew ran it really well.

the thing that bothers me about everyone being very critical of the game is that you KNOW that mularkey is a guy that will use plays in one game to set up plays in antoher. Look at his plans in pittsburgh.

For example, the play where Drew faked to Traves but threw to McGahee. I guarantee he's got about 15 different variations of that particular play, and we're going to see many of them before the season ends. That's the kind of stuff that wins games, folks.

I thought the playcalling on Sunday was great. Lots of people B word about the passes on 4rd and short, but I just about busted a nut when they ran a draw on 3rd and short and gained about 10 yards.

    Perspective, folks. Perspective.

  6. If I'n not mistaken, Mustangs didn't come out 'til mid 1964.  Do you mean a '72?

BTW, for 'coolest', I'd have to go w/ my very own '68 Charger.  Have owned it for 21 years.  As for 'exotic', I drove an Excaliber.  A previous neighbor of mine was a car salesmen.  The Excaliber was basically a (n expensive) kit car built on a (brand new) Camaro chassis.  (This was about 1985).  They had it at their dealership for promotional purposes.  It was surprisingly fast.

No, I actually meant '67. Buddy of mine had it in college.

  7. In order of coolness

    1972 Volkkswagon Superbeetle convertable

    1962 Ford Mustang w/ straight 6

    1968 Dodge Charger w/ hemi

    1972 GTO

    1965 (?) Corvette

    1984 Chevy Chevette

    I've got 2

1980 Corvette - my boss' car when I worked at Arby's as an 18 year old.  Had to drive to a different Arby's to pick up some ketchup when we ran out.

1988 BMW M5 - My Pop and I took it for a test drive.  Got it up to about 115 mph in 4th gear on a back road.  The poor salesman was white as a sheet in the back.

  8. He's not worth the loot. I'd rather trade the guy for a 1st round pick or two. Use that money on a dominant center or tackle, like Orlando Pace. There are a couple of FA lineman available next year and I believe they will fill more of a need than TKO.

    31037

Whatever. Now where is that ignore button?

  9. Another funny bit was the Washington Post had an article which said that GW was known for his flexibility in defensive schemes...I was like...not when he was in Buffalo....but then again...I think he has little to do with the defense in DC.  I think he just implements what Gibbs tells him to do.  Some people are just good #2 men.

    29520

I bet Joe just gave him a list of stuff to get done, then GW made some supporting lists. On his list was to hi-five players after a good play, that's why he did it.

  10. I am not ragging on MM any player, coach or GM....how many games does MM get before we say...he is not a good coach?  How many games (years) does a rookie get before they are considered a bust?

I think if this team is 5-5 or 4-6 after 10 games, it is time to believe that the problem is not coaching, but that this team is not built right.  Any thoughts?

    28955

I guess it would depend on the players he's given. Mularkey didn't walk into a team that was just torn apart because of a salary cap emergency, the way GW did. So I'd give Mularkey 2 years. If the Bills aren't in the playoffs by next year and it's clear that it's his fault, then he's gone.

  11. I'm not happy with the loss, and I think there is plenty of blame to go around. Any phase of the game could have been better and we would have come away with a win.

That said, I think we should all remember that this was the first game in a new offensive system. I certainly wouldn't make judgements about that right now. The players and o-line can only get better as everything starts to come together. I think Mularkey purposely called things simply because the team lacks the gametime experience in this O to do everything they want to do.

I'm not making excuses for anyone, because they really should have won, but let's realize this as we go forward. There's a learning curve that will become apparent as things go forward.

  12. I have to admit, I do.  If the Patriots were just dominant, you could accept their wins.  But they are not.  All the breaks seem to go their way and it's as if they get a free pass from God.

The Fins at this point are just sad.  I will get a lot more joy out of beating the Pats than I will when we beat Miami.

    26694

I can feel for you, man, but the truth is that the Pats ARE dominant. They win. As much as I think they get lucky sometimes, the fact is that they put themselves in a position so that a few good bounces would help them win. Other teams get good bounces, as well, however since they aren't in a position to win, it doesn't matter.

The exeption to this is the playoff game against Indy last year, in which I feel the Pats were given the advantage by the refs, and the tuck rule game. However, You just can't argue with their record.

I hate the pats, but luck only gets you so far. They're good.
