1. I don't see how anyone outside of insiders had any inkling of this move, much less to Sirius, much less months ago.  And my investment is for the long-term, so the short-term adjustments don't bother me too much.

Well, it's your money. Stern himself has been talking about this for quite some time. You might want to do some research before buying stock on a whim. Learn from other people's mistakes.

Are they profitable? Do they pay a dividend? How much debt do they have? What is their install base compared to their competition? Who else holds the stock in large numbers?

If you can't answer these questions, you have no reason to buy the stock. To buy stock because howard stern is moving to them is idiotic.

  2. I'm posting this here because no one is around on the other board.

I'm not very educated or experienced in the stock exchange area however:

Howard Stern is moving to satellite radio, and this will obviously draw many people to purchase satellite radio.

    so here's my question:

Once he does switch to satellite radio or shortly before, do you think it would be a good move to buy some stock in some satellite radio companies? (ex: Sirius)

Just a thought, let me know what you think.

Do more research. Buying a stock because a radio personality is switching is not smart. Real market watchers knew about this months ago so the adjustment has been made.

Look at mutual funds. Fool.com has some good information on rookie investors. Diversification is key, or if you have enough money a managed account. I'd suggest either educating yourself more or consulting a professional you can trust.

  3. It's Halloween peckersnot.  So how many people do you know that take their kids trick or treating at 1 O'clock in the afternoon?

I've been through blizzards and hurricanes so dont whine to me about water going down your neck.

    94407

I do know that it takes nearly 2 hours to get back to Rochester, peckersnot. And trick-or-treating starts around 6PM with the little kids. So 4 (game ends) + 2 (drive time) = 6 (when you get home). There - I did the math for you. That means that if people from Rochester want to be with their kids to do Haloween, the game is impossible.

And I've been to many, many cold games, peckersnot. I've been sleeted on, rained on, snowed on, etc. However, I must say that 50 degrees and a constant stream of water in my face was unpleasant. You can B word at me for not having the desire to sit through Joe Burns and Shane Matthews running the offense in garbage time, but I saw fit to leave with 5 minutes left. And I don't blame anyone else who did.

  4. Did we even have over 50,000? then the fans that were there leave by the midway point of the 4th!

Then some on this board have the nerve to questuon why some players dont care what fans say......GREAT WIN BY(our bills) but terrible effort by these so called ''great fans of ours!"

    IM EMBARRASSED!

    94004

Hey Rudy: :I starred in Brokeback Mountain:

The stadium was packed at the beginning. And you have no idea how crappy the weather was. I do - I was there. On the Bills side the wind and rain was blowing right in our faces and dripping down the neck of our shirts and into our clothes. I was in waterproof snow gear, and I was cold and wet.

Nice of you to B word while sitting warm and inside, you kitty. There were over 60K people there. Pretty good for playing a crappy non-divisional team like Arizona, and pretty good that many WNY people have family and opt to spend haloween taking their kids trick-or-treating.

    Piss off, dumbass.

  5. Sign this guy - he's been a quality center for a few years.  Move Teague to right tackle when he returns, move Big Mike to left guard, and when JP returns in a couple of weeks he'll have enough protection to blossom into a great QB.

    87346

Teauge has actually been a bright spot on the line this year. He's been one of the best players. Why screw that up?

  6. Oakland this year. A very winnable game. We lost because drew was inaccurate that day. Poor judgement.

If there was anyone who I wish could turn it around, it would be Drew. But 5 or 6 times a year he'll throw out a real clunker like he did on Sunday. 2 or 3 clunker games a year is OK - even an aging Favre does that, but Favre makes up for it by winning games by himself. Drew can't do that.

Ugh. It's depressing to think about.

  7. I was watching Fox News Saturday morning and one of the anchormen said he was invited to debate Michael Moore at some college for charity. He said that he went and had a lot of fun.

He then said that Michael Moore received $30,000 for the debate that did not go to charity, and also was flown to the debate in a private jet, paid for by the college. The anchorman said he was not paid for the event and had to pay for his flight.

Is it also true his website is hosted by a Canadian company?

    Man of the people?

    85068

Michael Moor is a disgusting excuse for a human being. He's a self-proclaimed socialist, yet takes $30K for a speaking engagement? What a bufoon.

    I can't stand the !@#$.

  8. I do not blame Drew for everything, never have. But he certainly sucked like a Hoover on Sunday. I am just tired of seeing him, listening to him, and hoping things will get better with him in there. You reach a point and you are DONE. I am there with Bledsoe.

    85530

Right. Of course it's not all Drew's fault. Only the retarded would think that, but there comes a time when your QB has to take the O on his shoulders and win a game for you. Drew can't do that.

  9. Vendetta?  Where did you pull that out of?

As for those linemen "playing well"....yeah, sure they are, it's why we can't get any push in the run game (and none of those guys as dominant in the running game as Williams) and why our QB is constantly under pressure...I know its fashionable to blame everything that’s wrong with the Oline on Williams, but he's just part of the problem...those players you mentioned above are a huge problem as well.  If 3/5 of our line was worth a stevestojan (like you claim) the line wouldn’t be a huge problem, but it is.

    85474

Watch the friggin games, man. I guess if you need someone to blame for the entire thing, do whatever makes you happy. Be my guest.

    how's this:

    IT"S ALL DONAHOE'S FAULT!

Gee, what a brilliant statment. I don't subscribe to blanket statements. I subscribe to rational thought. But don't let that get in your way when seeking a scapegoat if it makes you feel good.

  10. I don't know as much about the important matters discussed on this forum as "todd" seems to, but I do know that "the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom."  Whatever "stevestojan" might be, I can assert without question that it appears nowhere in the Bible.

Todd seems an authority on the issue of "stevestojan"-- and delivers a mouthful.

    85466

Awww, did I get you riled up? You have your opinions, I have mine. If you'd like to insult me, that's fine. I think the ever-important bible says something about that, as well. Can you quote me a passage, preacher?

  11. Unfortunately that's 6 or our starting 11 offensive players. =/...or roughly 1/4 of our starting team.

    85463

Wow - someone's on a vendetta against me. Interesting.

That's good and all, but our entire line doesn't suck. Teague has been playing well, Jennings is a good player, and chris vallerial is pretty damn good too. The entire friggin defense rocks, and our RB situation is damn good.

So spin it how you want by making broad generalizations, but it turns out you're wrong. Do you think our ENTIRE offensive line sucks? Every last one of them? Do you think we should cut them all? Be honest.

  12. Let's do the bad first, so I don't have the irrational hotheads up my ass:

    1. Mike Williams. He's in his 3rd year and making a ton of friggin money. Donahoe spent a #4 on the guy. What do I expect of a #4 pick? I expect some growing pains, but I also expect some signs of dominance. Some signs of being elected to the pro bowl. By the 3rd year, if he's not showing dominance by the midpoint of the season, he's becoming close to being labeled a bust. He's one game away from that label, imho. A Donahoe mistake.

    2. Hiring Gregg Williams. Well, maybe he should just stay away from those named Williams. What say you about that? Apparently a good coordinator. Not a good HC. Mistake by donahoe.

    3. Unwillingness to force the issue of getting rid of Gilbride's awful playcalling when we were losing last year. Not good. Mistake.

    4. Trade for Drew. Um, I love Drew. But he doesn't elevate the offense. He cant' win games by himself. I expect that out of a #1 pick, or at least the pick we gave away. Bad choice.

    5. Josh Reed. I don't like him. Fill in the blanks - not worth a 5th round pick, let alone a 2nd.

    The good:

    1. Getting value for Peerless instead of overpaying him. Good move. Peerless has done jack as a #1 WR.

    2. Drafting Travis in the 2nd round. Damn good, especially when we'll get a 1st rounder for him. A 1300 yard back isn't easy to come by, unless you are the Broncos. We ain't.

    3. Drafting Willis. In the guy's second game he shows the talent and burst a 1300 yard back (travis) doesn't have. Nice! Looking like a good pick right now. And he's essentially a rookie right now.

    4. Vision drafting Losman. Nice way to hedge your bet. He bet on Drew turning it around, but hedged it well with a talented rookie. Nice hedge.

    5. Re-signing Moulds. If you remember, the choice was between getting moulds or wiley. Wiley is a blowhard nothing. Moulds is a great pro. Nice move.

    6. Aaron schoebel. Wow. Who would have thought that this guy would be capable of double-digit sacks? Not me. I scratched my head at this pick, but I was wrong. Who would have thought he'd be able to make Ogden look like a fool? Not me. Great draft pick. He's becoming a playmaker, and he's damn good.

    7. Our defense in general. Pretty damn good. I'm impressed.

    8. LB FAs. Takeo and London are damn good. Posey is solid, but not spectacular. But takeo and london are playmakers.

    9. Terence McGee. Pretty damn good DB and damn good returner. Nice pick.

So it's clear donahoe hasn't been perfect, and he's missed on a few important things, but his draft picks and FA pickups have been pretty good overall.

So lets have some perspective here, folks. Everything doesn't suck. Don't shoot yourselves yet. It sucks not going to the playoffs again, and I hate that, but Donahoe has done a good job overall.

  13. I never said it was "no big deal".  I simply am not willing to push the blame to the administrative level of the government when the Pentagon is clearly in charge of ground operations and security in Iraq.

Because the government is expected to perform so many different rolls, it ensures they will do none of them well.  The same thing happens when businesses branch out from their core competancies into new areas.  The core generally takes a hit in quality and never recovers.

I agree with you, but GWB took on the job as prez knowing he'd be ultimately responsible for the workings of the govermnet. So blaming pentagon burocracy is blaming Bush. He's the CIO of the country, and if there's anyone who would see that problems at the pentagon hurt our country, it would be him.
