  1. The Bills (RW) continue to not pay good players. Then have to draft replacements to fill the needs. Never getting any better. Drafting a RB and 3 freaking DB's. They could have kept Lynch (saved the Spiller pick and this White pick), and could have kept several DB's or Free agent picked one. So that is half the draft spent filling holes left cause RW won't invest in the team. Treading water again this year. Could have a QB roster of of Tebow and Kaepernick backing up Fitzpatrick - but NOOOOOO! That may be far fetched but how about Anthony Davis a 16 game starting tackle instead of Spiller, and Kaepernick instead of Aaron Williams And in the 7th Bruce Miller and Greg Romeus were both available. I don't get it..
  2. I like that idea, during the draft have someone save the consensus from the thread here and see how those work out.
  3. I don't think he had zero trade value. Getting nothing from a guy who had 2 years left on a contract, and had something left to give? This is just another dumb move by the Bills. Save RW's money for all those free agents they are signing, or top round QB's they are drafting, or... well never mind, save all the $ for Ralph's heir's. This is how a team stays a bottom dweller. I know he wasn't great, but he could play, suited up for every game, wasn't hurt. The only reason this makes sense is short term $ savings. When football sense isn't running the team, the Bills will stay crap. They should have traded for a low round pick or a player with potential but coming off injury, legal problems, etc. But to get nothing. Oy we suck again!
  4. Looks about right & yeah - another bottom dweller season 3-13. Tromped by Jets, NE and Dolfins.
  5. Kudos for another year of insights/opinions. Build the lines and they will come....
  6. to me it ispretty simple: offense needs outstanding players at LT, C, QB, RB and WR. Once you have top notch players in those spots you have good team. Add good players to the other spots and you can win games. Add an outstanding player to another position on offense (when the first 5 are already filled with top notch players) and you create mismatches that can dominate a game. On defense a team needs outstanding players at RDE, NT, ILB, OLB and CB. These will counter the other teams top 5 offensive players. Add more outstanding players and you can control the game from defense. Now look at the Bills. I would say QB & RB are good enough. Are we happy with any f our defensive players? Kyle Williams in a 4-3 but we need a monster next to him. Other spots have shown flashes, but that leaves a lot of spots to fill, unless you buy that the talent is on the team and just needs maturing. So yes best player available works within reason. until those 10 spots are full of top notch talent - Bills will continue to be also-rans. And picking a TE or Safety because they are best available will continue the misery. Now once these 10 spots are filled with top performers, best available would work. my 2 cents anyways.
  7. Way back when, the Bills stopped trying to be an independent organization of rating college players. I think it was in the Polian era they joined with a couple teams to have a common scouting organization. Then we did really well drafting for a while. Anyone else remember this? I was wondering if that kind of thing was still around? I seem to recall Dallas was in this thing? Or am I mis-remembering??
  8. Who are the punt gunners that are missing big time on the first chance at contact? Hard to catch the numbers
  9. Nice to remember how good Thurman was. And Lofton getting a second shot at stardom with the Bills.
  10. The defense looked bad. Remember last year when it seemed they could not get off the field. Lot's of 3rd downs made. Like that again.
  11. Well I don't see the Bills doing it through the draft either? Are they using imagineering? Spiller = this years TO, a move to sell tickets. Even if they had traded Lynch it would have been treading water; no real improvement. To me looks like another Magahee move - ooo look how smart Nix is he took the best player available. Left tackle is one of the top 8 positions a team needs to good at, to be a contender. LT, QB, WR, RB on offense RDE, NT, ILB, CB on defense Bills helped themselves in 1 spot NT. Have good CB. ILB is passable. Now maybe going to the 3-4 gave them a passrushing outside LB which can make up for a weak RDE pass rush. So defense is probably good enough to be middlin. But not much depth. Offense: Spiller I don't think helps much. Had 2 good RBs now have 3. LT - no one. QB journeymen, WR no one that can dominate. So Spiller is flashy but no substance. From those 8 spots I see no one that can take control of a game. So the Bills need to go out and find bodies that can do that for a couple games or so this season. Stars on the decline can do that for $. Cheap owner means it aint gonna happen. So Bills are doomed to another season of poor play. I would not even say mediocrity. Door mat of the AFC east. looks like a 4-12 season. Good luck with draft picks for the next 2 years. Gonna need them. Oh, and by then, the folks drafted this week are gonna be leaving - so rebuild is never done. If I had any Bills memorabilia left I would be stuffing it in the trash can. I know BANG - door hitting me on the way out. Wish i could quit cold turkey!
  12. The O Line personnel is still a joke. Faneca would help and Flozell too. also Henderson the NT. To be taken seriously, the Bills have a long way to go. But yeah another 5 year rebuild - yeah right. Until Woilson cracks the wallet to start an uphill movement, jus treading water until the move.
  13. Bills have a lot of OL that finished the season on IR and are FAs. I'd like to see who they bring any back to help figure out the draft. Assuming a couple stick and are healthy, that should cover interior Oline and RT. So yes LT needs to be filled in the draft. Same thing with LB I think if they asses the IRs and FAs the only need will be another inside LB. So that is high on the list too. If Bills go to a true 3-4 defense then yes they need a NT, a big lug of a man mountain (some would call a 2 down guy). The roster has quite a few who could play DE in a 3-4, or penetrate on 3rd down. As the run defense was so bad the NT may be the greatest need, but not necessarily the first pick. I would look for a QB FA as a gap fill to see if Brohm has it. The team personality would be run based O, 2 good backs behind a line that opens holes. An aggressive D that allows the ball hawking secondary to or blitzing OLBs to make plays. So all Brohm does the beginning of the year is handoff, let Freddie Wildcat, and only pitch a few down field after lulling them with run run run. So first 3 picks: LT , ILB, NT the order of best value at the time. Keep Edwards, Keep Lynch, try to keep Owens. Until they get knocked off the squad by better talent. AKA another Freddie Jackson / low round pick or FA pickup.
  14. Has anyone done an in-depth look to see if we end up with same record who would have the advantage for better draft position?
  15. The O'line was crap before the injuries. In particular the tackles. The linebacking trio was too small before the injuries and got no help in the draft. The Defensive tackles are too small can't stop the run. got no help in the draft. Failed to get a veteran at TE, another vet LB, or a decent LT or RT. Fitz was a vet at QB but a cheap choice with no chance at carrying the team. Also 5 first round draft picks in a row that yielded 4th round (roster filling but not starters) talent. That is how you end up uncompetitive in this league.
  16. yeah i guess so. and when Poz went down they exploited the 2nd teamer too. Our Bills teams used to do that kind of stuff.
  17. In the 4th quarter I think the Bills OT's got folded in. The pocket collapsed on Edwards and it was game over. I think the play calling in the previous 3 qtrs helped keep the poor play of the OT's a non factor. But when TE dropped back waiting for the long routes, the Pats overcame the outsides of the Bills line & got him.
  18. You all remember that there were 2 fumbles by him last Monday one picked by the Bills and advance so it came out good. But I am sure that had the Pats looking to make him lose the pigskin again. Not that it is a big deal but there were 2 in 1 game by the same guy. Not a promising start.
  19. Don't count out Fewell and April. 2/3 of the game is still a mystery as to how good they are....
  20. Maybe Perry Fewell and Bobby April get together and scheme a way to beat Bellicheck (return of the Creep? surprise on-sides kicks?) Sure, New England has beaten us 6 years in a row. Sure, they're terrific athletes. They have the best equipment available. Hell, every player has their own personal masseuse. Not masseur. Masseuse. But it doesn't matter. Do you know that every NE player has an electrocardiogram... blood and urine tests every 24 hours... to see if there's any change in his physical condition? Do you know that they use the most sophisticated spying methods...from the Soviet Union, East and West Germany...and the newest power, Trinidad-Tobago? But it doesn't matter. It just doesn't matter! I tell you, it just doesn't matter! Even! Even if we win... If we win! Ha! Even if we play so far over our heads... that our noses bleed for a week to ten days... even if God in heaven above listens to Tim Russert...and he comes down and points His hand at our side of the field... even if every man, woman and child in Western NY...held hands together and prayed for us to win... it just wouldn't matter... because all the really good-looking girls...would still go out with the guys from Boston...'cause they got all the money! It just doesn't matter! It just doesn't matter what our offense does! It's the D and Special Teams that count, The O just doesn't matter!
  21. i vote for bobby April. He is an innovator. He would need strong coordinators under him, a risky choice, but he's smart. and as we've seen: you can't fix stupid.
  22. Been a while since I logged in, sorry if you have been hashing this over already: This is another example of Ralph Wilson sucking the profit's out of the franchise. I know the NFL is all about the bucks. But a New LT, LG and Center? And only the center is on the team right now? A team is built from the linemen out. Another step closer to the grave for Ralph, another step closer to Toronto for the Bills. Small market team mentality = excuse to be doormat. Really sad to see this once proud franchise in a state of turnstile. Bills draft poorly, find a few nuggets, they get good, they move on. Always nice to see a young enthusiastic team - but come on. Nothing to see here. Move on people.
