Possibly Donahoe's finest hour when he balked at that trade. And locking up Terrence McGee. Good work TD! Shelton is pathetic. Gandy looks like Orlando Pace compared to that bum.

And Culpepper played great... -
Picking straight winners right, no spread? I am in a pool at work picking the games straight-up and have also only missed 6 games over the first two weeks. I missed four in week 1 and the two I missed yesterday were both OT- I picked the Eagles and the Panthers. Both of them gave their games away. I have Pittsburgh tonight over Jax but looking back I might have gone the other way with that....We'll see... 49ers over the Rams was a clutch pick but damn if that didn't seem obvious for some reason....

42.5 Buffalo is not favored.

In terms of handling the nuances of the quarterback position and managing the game, this was Losman's best game as a Bill. He knew the defense was dominant, he knew that the Bills were up by two scores for most of the 2nd half, and he didn't do anything to jeopardize that. He also had a 90 rating...Rating is a weird stat, especially when you can achieve a solid number like 90 while only throwing for 83 yards. But JP got the ball out quickly, completed a good percentage of his passes, didn't turn the ball over, and threw a TD pass. Overall, well done JP! Did anyone else have a quick flashback when they saw Losman rolling to his right on that 1st down play from the 3 yd line? -
Did you see the Auburn-LSU game? LSU is down 7-3 and trying to score late in the 4th quarter. LSU is facing a 4th down, and the LSU receiver runs a deep post, and is accosted by the Auburn CB at the 3-yd line. The Auburn safety came over just in time to tip the pass away. Two flags come in, pass interference on Auburn, looks like a 15-yd penalty and an LSU 1st down. LSU starts to line up, and then the refs conference, and come to the conclusion that there is no foul, the ball was tipped. The ball was tipped??? The safety came over and got a finger tip on the ball as the LSU receiver was being raped by the CB. It was a pathetic overturn, and seemed to be a real home job, especially since two flags were thrown when the foul originally happened. Clearly, two different refs saw interference. Since it was 4th down, it went from 1st down LSU to 1st down Auburn. Pathetic.

will officiating affect outcome?
smokinandjokin replied to oregonbbfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All of the teams in the NFL are so close, that 1 or 2 pivotal calls can change the outcome of the game. It's incredible how many times NFL refs make major blunders. The most disappointing part is that there is no recourse. Players and coaches are fined a pretty penny for criticizing the officials. Referee incompetence is a well known fact, but continues to be swept under the rug by the league. I'm not a big conspiracy guy...I don't think the league has their favorites. I think the refs just suck. -
Barry Sanders highlight reel

I saw that...Hilarious! He was still behind the line of scrimmage, he just changed direction, he had 20 yards to go to the end zone, and Peete threw his arms up. -
Does anyone know which hotel the Bills

Well the rash must've kicked in right around half time. -
I love Mularkey's quote..."It's like you beat the whole city..." That schit is great. Too bad he never felt what it was like to have the whole city behind him as he takes a Bills team to the playoffs. And yes, we do take losses hard- and particularly those against our arch-rival when we are totally dominating the game until our head coach benches our #1 wideout and goes into meltdown mode with the offensive playcalling. I am so confident the Bills are going to win this game, it's incredible.

Love the 'Nerds in Paradise' reference. Not nearly enough of those. -
I can't imagine it EVER getting that bad... I suppose this isn't the place to rush to judgement, but damn that's not cool. Poor kids...

I'll catch them at some point soon, I watch a lot of CFB. I think I remember Leonard from last year...Does he wear #23? I haven't really read or heard anything on RR, but he looks like an a-hole on the sidelines. Slaton has a decent shot at the Heismann because Rodriguez seems like he'll leave him in the game until he gets his 200-yds and 4 TDs.

So what? The field hockey team gets full scholarships too. That new field hockey turf stadium was not built with money generated by the field hockey team. Neither was that new library or computer lab. First class education is great. But feed the horse a little bit. Schools are BANKING money on football and basketball players, and they are treated like expendable commodities. These athletes do MUCH more for the school than they get credit for. Slide them a few bucks. It should be the NCAA that pays them, not the individual schools. That way it is consistent, and can be 'somewhat' regulated. Have you seen the network and ESPN contracts for televising football? Or March Madness? The problem will never completely go away- the snake agents and boosters will still be there with the keys to an Escalade. But maybe even a little cheddar in the pocket will be enough for few of the athletes to avoid contact until it's allowed.

It looks better than the legless, yellow buffalo that was born yesterday...

I was discussing my bets last Saturday afternoon with a friend of mine who is a fellow wagerer. I asked him what he thought about the night game between Ohio State and Texas. He said, "I'm not sure...If I WAS going to take it, I'd take OSU...." I just started laughing and said, "So WHEN you take it, you're taking Ohio St." He just started laughing too. Even if it's your best intention (and a good idea) to lay off, once Saturday and Sunday roll around, there's always a few that look good. Might as well stop lying to yourself now.

I said it way back when, in the original predictions thread on June 26th, that WVU would run the table: The team I think has a VERY good chance of going undefeated is West Virginia. They are a little under the radar on a national scale, but the Big East knows who they are. A huge win in a BCS bowl game last year- beating Georgia in Atlanta in the Sugar Bowl- could propel this team to a huge 2006. I actually had money on Georgia in the Sugar Bowl. I figured playing in Atlanta, the SEC champ (they were only giving about 7) would blow the Big East champ outta the water. White and Slaton blew me out of the water. They are great, and so is their O-Line. So yes, I agree, I don't think there's a team on their schedule that can beat WVU. Their defense is definitely the most suspect of the nationally ranked top-10, but their offense is like a freaking track meet. I suppose, if Slaton gets dinged up, and a team can take a two-possession lead into the 2nd half, we'd see if White can beat somebody with his arm. He hasn't had to prove that yet, but for a running QB, he looks pretty good when he throws it, from what I've seen. I haven't seen any of Rutgers this season, but I liked them last year. They could easily finish 2nd...Louisville without Bush can be had, and Pitt is always maddening with their inconsistency. UConn was way down, had a nice run with Orlovsky at QB, but now it seems they are down again.

And Ohio State's '03 title was "clean"... I'm sure with enough digging this stuff is prevalent in every major program. You can say it's the responsibility of the coaches to be on top of this stuff, but is that realistic? The coach is supposed to know that an agent is paying for a player's brother to live in a beach house in Malibu? Or that his RB is getting $5000 per month from a booster? How can you police that, other than bombarding your players with information detailing the rules? Here's when you get yourself caught- When you accept money and gifts from an agent, and then sign with somebody else. You have to know these guys are snakes. If you turn your back on them after they hook you up with cars, money, etc, they will rat you out in a second. If you find an agent you like, accept some perks, and stay with the guy, it will never become public knowledge, because the money he makes off of you as a pro will far outweigh the few grand he threw you in college.

Ahhh, I didn't look it up...I heard it from the announcers last night during the WVU-MD game. It's my own fault for trusting...

The best fight or most interesting thing

There I so many that I barely know where to begin. I was at the game mentioned by the poster earlier where the drunk started to go out on the wire, didn't even get close to half way, got tired and started coming back. It was the early-to-mid-80s, I was probably 5 or 6. I distinctly remember people yelling "Jump!" and throwing things at the guy. If I do recall correctly, that was the first time I wiffed the magical smell of marijuana as well. I asked my dad what the smell was, and he simply said "Somebody is smoking pot," like I would know what that meant. My favorite had to be after the Bledsoe Bowl in 2002, when the Patriots (and thousands of their fans) came into the Ralph to watch Brady screen the Bills to death. After the game, there was a Pats fan standing in the hallway, mouthing off in a THICK Boston accent: "Buh bye...Have a nice ride home...Go to your cahs...You should be thankin us...You should be thankin us fer bringin the Wurld Champion New England Patriots to yer stadium, so that you can see what a real football team looks like...This is owha stadium...blah blah" This is going on and on, and countless people are telling him to shut up, and F-off, and all that. My friend, who is a good sized 6'2" dude, calmly walked over and hammered a straight right off this Patsy's face. The tunnel erupted with cheers as this clown stumbled backwards to the ground. He would've been down for a 50-count. Believe me, I have been a visiting fan in many stadiums, so I try to calm the tempers when there are drunk Bills fans just being A-holes and looking to fight. If the visiting team comes in and wins, their fans have a right to be happy about it. But this Boston boy was definitely BEGGING for it.
