  1. A little hetero action is a nice change of pace... Seems like your section is a very passionate place tater. If I need to find a slump buster I may sit up there for a game.
  2. The NFL forces Belichick to wear his hobo sweatshirt because market research shows the league's interest is fading in the homeless man demographic. Look for plastic bags tied around his socks once the weather turns cold and wet...
  3. Whitner played well like usual. He did blow his over the top coverage on that late downfield throw...McGee let his man go but Whitner stuck with the TE up the seam and was late getting over...Good thing it didn't hurt us- the youngsters will have a few lapses, and will occasionally get just plain beat by some crafty playcalls. It's nice to be able to learn a lesson when it doesn't cost the team points. All of the LB's played well today. Damn fine pick by Fletcher.
  4. I was forced to enter at gate 7/8 instead of the usual gate 9. It was mayhem...A bunch of people trying to get to gate 9 (which you could see was empty) and one sherriff standing there saying you cannot enter over there. It was a real logjam at gates 7/8. Speaking of logjamming, fortunately I jumped in line right behind a babe with an ass that just wouldn't quit. I was able to rub my bulge on her for a few minutes....
  5. They still took the ball with an 8-point lead and lumbered down the field for a 6-minute TD drive. HUGE drive, especially with the way the Bills had been able to move the ball between the 20's. Let's face it, that drive won the game. And when it came down to it, they stopped the Bills on downs. Today the clock ran out on the Vikes. I don't think any Jets fan last week felt like the Bills fans did this week. I agree there's a lot of parity in the league. That's why when the game is 20-17 halfway through the 4th quarter, that TD to go up 27-17 is so much bigger than the 23-17 lead. The good teams do it. I'm not saying the Bills won't ever do it, I'm just saying they have had plenty of chances to put teams away this year, and they haven't done it yet. 1st & goal from the 5 at the end of the 3rd/beginning of the 4th today was a perfect example. 1st down on the 18 in Miami after the punt block was another perfect example. You can effectively win the game right there. That's why I liked Jauron's 4th down call in Foxboro. They didn't convert, but that was a huge chance to put the clamps on the game.
  6. I thought the Jets showed impressive "ice the game" quality last week when they prevented the Bills from getting 7 when they snuffed out Losman's bootleg. They then went on a long, methodical drive and punched in a TD to go up 28-13. That emptied the stadium and won the game for them. Conversely, while the Bills' O needs to punch that in from the 1 yard line to make it 21-17, the D needs to man-up and get off the field quickly while it's still a one-possession game. Today was nerve-racking because the Bills were in control the whole way, not a worry in the world. And then, all of the sudden, the fans are pulling their hair out late in the 4th. I agree, they will get better and will hopefully finish teams when they have them wobbling on the ropes. Right now I'll take the wins any way they come. But I could do without the ulcer.
  7. I don't know if Losman is the 5th best QB, or the 15th best, or the 25th best. Of the four games they've played this year, I'd take Brady over Losman, and that's it. I'd MUCH rather have JP than Culpepper, Pennington, or Johnson. With CP and BJ in particular, I don't know how you can get excited about that b.s. offense they run. I tried supporting the 4-yard dumpoff last year with Holcomb and it was atrocious to watch. It's smart when it's the QB's release option, but it sucks when it's the entire offense. For the most part this year, Losman has been on. And when he's on, with his cannon, it is great to watch.
  8. The 4th down against New England to punch it in and go up 24-7 in the 3rd quarter. Didn't convert, faded in the 4th quarter. The possession after the blocked punt in Miami where a TD would've iced the game by making it 20-0. Settled for a FG for 16-0 and remained a two possession lead. Gave up late TD and had to defend a late conversion attempt. Red zone struggles and turnovers against the Jets allowed NY to escape with the win even after being thoroughly outplayed. The 3rd and goal failed bootleg sticks out as a big missed TD opportunity. Today the Bills again outplayed the Vikings, and yet there were some seriously tense moments at the end of the 4th. It reminded me a lot of the opener against Jax in '04. You never felt nervous about the game, but the Bills never put it away. Then late in the 4th, you find yourself thinking, "Is there a chance they could lose this game?" The conservative three run plays from the 5 was obvious they were a little too happy to settle for 3 points. I don't know what it is, but they don't seem to get that clincher TD midway through the 4th quater that would ice the victory. The defense never makes that important stop that would squash any hopes of a comeback. Do the Bills lack that killer instinct to put teams away? Or are they a young group who are trying to figure out how to win in a league where victories are never easy?
  9. If Losman plays 12 more games like he played the first 4, the Bills should hang around .500, and possibly linger on the fringe of the playoff chase. As a result, the Bills will be able to enter the offseason KNOWING that the quarterback situation is settled for the near future, and they can concentrate on adding the missing pieces to make this team a top-5 contender. That will be HUGE for a team that has had offseason QB questions since 1996. Continue to expect the incredible flashes of talent from JP, but remember this thread when he makes some mistakes. Because he most certainly will. All I know is, after watching two straight weeks of Chad Pennington and Brad Johnson (two very successful but very conservative QBs) I am EXTREMELY happy that we have Losman.
  10. I love the Ralph and will never trash the place. But there is no question it's the worst stadium I've been in for out-of-town scores. I've had money on games where friends have updated me that it's 24-7 Denver over KC at the half, but the scoreboard at the Ralph is flashing 7-3 KC in the 1st. And they don't keep scrolling them, they are sporadic at best when they show them. I agree they must improve this.
  11. Yeah that dude was a clown. Two of my buddies who were sitting with us are Jets fans, and they would of been first in line to beat that guy. Somebody did grab his hat and throw it off the upper deck. But you're right, he deserved worse. I did notice he was wearing a trashy, typical New Jersey gold necklace. That's what stung the worst. It's bad enough to have to deal with a mouthy, obnoxious, quasi-guido Jets fan in the section...It's 100x worse when that guy is wearing jewelery.
  12. Tater was sitting in the same section as I was for the big game. Unfortunately, I cannot confirm that I noticed any lesbian activity in the vacinity. However, I must say I am SHOCKED that these gals weren't swayed back to the rooster team when they saw Tater looking mighty fine in his circa-1988 Marv Levy Bills sweater. If that didn't bring them around, they are gone for good. While we can question the girls and their sexual orientation, tattoo selections, and public displays of affection, I certainly do not question their concession stand choices. Section 317 was making a mighty fine hot dog on Sunday, and I housed two in each half.
  13. Bills are 2-0 ATS so far this year...Ride 'er till she bucks ya!
  14. I'm sure whatever was said was meant in the nicest possible way.
  15. UB is the only 1-A school in the nation with a black AD, a black football HC, and a black hoops HC.
  16. Not my name, but a site I visit often
  17. The Bills still cannot stop the run, and are one injury away from being in serious trouble on the OLine. That, plus a sketchy red zone offense, is why I would be very suprised (pleasantly so!) if they made the playoffs.
  18. This is the stuff that always cracks me up about gambling. (I'm not calling you out in any form Ozy, don't read this the wrong way...) There is always some guy with a comment when you make a bet, whatever it is, and the conversation goes something like this: Me: "I took the over in the Chargers-49ers game." Him: "Over what?" Me: "41." Him (scratching his chin): "Hmmmm...I guess that probably would go over. But I dunno...It could stay under." No schit buddy! That's why it's the line! And that guy is always right there after the game finishes 23-17 and he says "I told you it was going to stay under." Ozy- I know what you're saying. You think the game could go either way, but will more than likely be close, so the 5.5 or 6 is too many. I wasn't lumping you in with the crowd who takes no stance on any game whatsoever, and then criticizes someone else's picks. By the way, the Bills have covered one home opener in a row.
  19. It was mentioned earlier in this thread about Plummer, the man in tornado's avatar. He's lead plenty of 4th quarter game winning drives. And that makes him good? That means you're 'sold' on him? I've said it before, Plummer is this decade's Dave Krieg- he keeps both teams in the game. I'm sure that in many of the games he drove for 4th quarter comebacks, poor decision making by Plummer in the first 58 minutes forced him into that situation, and had them sweating out what could have been easy victories. I'm not disagreeing with the general consensus of the thread. I'd like to see JP do it also. Eli Manning, in his 2nd year last year, lead several last minute drives. Eventually a team is going to have to jump on their QB's back. But I disagree in the aspect that I won't be 'sold' on him until he does it. There are 359 other functions of quarterbacking that I'm more concerned with, and if JP continues to show that he can perform well at those functions in the first 3 quarters, I see no reason why he wouldn't be able to do so in the last minutes of the game. Plummer has proven that he can bounce back from a bad pick or poor decision to win the game. I'm more interested in seeing JP do that right now. We would've loved to see him drive for the FG after taking the safety, and if not for a few penalties, he may have. Last year he slumped his shoulders and hung his head after a mistake. I'd like to see a bit more of Plummer in his attitude when things do go badly.
  20. Had to be Coy Wire or Josh Reed. Hell, we blame them for everything else....
  21. The standard is 3 for homefield. Beyond that, I can see the Bills as 2.5 or 3 point favorites over the Jets head-to-head. 1.5 to 2 is probably more like it, but 2.5 to 3 is not unreasonable. Honestly I love this game at 5.5 and would probably still take it at 6. But I will definitely admit to a hometown bias. The good news is, I bet with a guy from the greater NY metropolis, and everyone is Jets fans so they always hammer on their team with the wagering. The line is always skewed and you end up benefiting from a half-point or a point adjustment when betting against the NYG or NYJ. I'll take it! Bills, home opener, throwbacks, speedy safeties jumping all over Pennington lobs...How do they NOT cover???
  22. I don't think anyone really disagrees with what he's saying. We all want to see JP lead a big 4th quarter drive for the win. But to say you're not sold on him until he does it??? The guy just got his second win as a starter (in which he threw for 83 yds), and now we say we need to see an 80-yard last minute TD drive to be sold on him? Strange timing, considering he's started 10 games. I agree, we all want to see it. But I think JP made 5 or 6 decisions on Sunday that kept the Dolphins in the rearview mirror and prevented the need for a last-second comeback. I'm more interested in that stuff rather than the two-minute drive itself.
  23. I don't see it. They couldn't cover 6.5 at home last week.
  24. It looks like the grass at Foxboro.
