  1. I disagree, I wouldn't call him a bum at all. Primadonna receiver yes. Acts like a little kid when the ball isn't being thrown his way? Sure.

But how many times has he had his defender beaten by SEVERAL steps only to have the ball grossly underthrown? To a certain extent, I can't blame him for his lackluster body language. Don't get me wrong, he certainly should've tried to break up a ball or two, but I wouldn't go as far as to call him a bum. To be as old as he is, the guy is in remarkable shape, and I believe wherever he goes when he leaves Buffalo, he's still got a couple good years left in him.

Unfortunately, we just weren't able to utilize him....

  2. Jags - 37

    Bills - 14

It's a total blowout today in Jacksonville. Buffalo can't stop the run and Marcus Stroud is out.

I wouldn't be surprised if that happened, but for some reason, I think the Bills will win today. My guess is they play hard for coach fewell, and try to get him a victory.

    I'm going Buffalo 24, Jacksonville 17.

  3. I disagree 100%. I've watched the same games you have. We have both watched T.O. get seperation down the field countless times. I don't like the few he's dropped, but it seems that has always been a problem with him, despite his Hall of Fame numbers. But what I don't like much more then that, are the times neither Edwards nor Fitz has been able to get the ball down the field to him while he still had steps on the d-back! The man is in amazing physical shape, and he certainly had no trouble "seperating" himself from the Texans D on his TD reverse run, did he?

If Fat Van Pelt has even a pea sized brain, playing behind what I also agree is the worst line in the NFL today, and perhaps one of the very worst in NFL history, he should incorporate many two step drop and throws out to the sidelines or stand up and throw over the middles to both Evans and Owens, beginning with the very first offensive play from scrimmage at the Titans a week from Sunday! If both Rosenhaus and I are convinced Owens still has "seperation speed" and playmaking ability, then Van Pelt should just take a page out of that old Keyshawn Johnson book and "get T.O. the damn ball"! If Edwards is too scared to stand up and throw it, and Fitzy is too inaccurate to throw the ball near him, then Brandon should spend some of the money he saved by cutting Walker and sign Garcia for the second half of the season! Jeff could come in, shake hands with the diva, and they could make something special happen for 8 games - if I remember correctly that was all we got out of Drew Bledsoe's 3 years in Buffalo anyway!!

very well said. i couldn't agree more. i can think of at least once every game where T.O. has beaten his defender by at least a step or two....

  4. I couldn't agree less.

We gave him his warm reception at the Hall of Fame. We pay tribute to his team by selling-out game after game. If people would have booed him during his initial ceremony, I would have considered it a little distasteful, but totally justified considering the team put on the field.

But I find it utterly pathetic that the ceremony is back on because we have won 2 games in a row. I am all for respecting the elderly, but this coward deserves to be booed.

    Well said sir. Well said.

I have absolutely no problem with people booing him. None. And the fact that all of a sudden now that we've won two in a row he decides it's safe to have the ceremony??? LAME...

  5. But why would you be envious of the same end result?

No matter who the 'Skins have at QB, or who is the Head Coach, the win-loss record is so similar through the past decade. Like the Bills, the front office and its lack of ability is what hinders each franchise.

Having an owner who is willing to throw good money after bad does not give them a better chance at winning.

i didn't say i'd be envious of the same end result, all i was saying is that i was envious of the Redskins having an owner who wasn't afraid to go after big name free agents with the thought of trying to improve the team. While his free agent acquisitions haven't lived up to their paychecks(how many in the NFL actually do), I do applaud him for at least trying to improve the team, which is more than I can say for our owner.

  6. I truly don't understand this. It's been well researched and defined that all Buffalo needs is a new owner that will spend money and we'll have a winning team. So how is it the Redskins have an owner that spends money like that and they're not winning every year?

outstanding question. and while i don't have the answer, i will say that even though the redskins suck, i'm envious that they have an owner who's AT LEAST willing to shell out big bucks for big time free agents and coaches.

  7. ok so... next week is going to be a hard win... but if we win, we go into bye week with a good full 3 weeks of trent studying titans (since he is out this week i bet you he is studying them now) then i think Jacksonville is an easy win (though browns should have been too) but we could be looking at a good 6-4 record in three weeks...

6-4? not gonna happen. It's hard to win in the NFL.....

dammit Jauron is rubbing off on me too now!!!

  8. We absolutely have a shot vs the Texans. Whether or not that translates to a victory, you got me on that one.

I will say this. Matt Schaub is DEFINITELY better than Derek Anderson, Mark Sanchez, and Jake Delhomme. I highly doubt he will giftwrap a victory for us the way Sanchez, Delhomme, and Derek Anderson tried to do for us. He is much more polished and lethal when given the time.

BUT, we also limited Drew Brees, arguably the best QB in the game now, to 172 yards passing. I really feel like our secondary is playing better than 30 other teams in the league right now, and if we can force a few more schaub picks, and our offense can just generate two or three touchdowns, we have a real shot at winning.. It's a home game, Bills fans will be rockin, and I personally feel like TO is due for a breakout game.

  9. Are you kidding me? This guy plays fantasy football with the Redskins! I've lived in MD most of my life, and this guy has literally ruined this franchise. Read this and you will agree: http://www.fool.com/investing/general/2009...ington-red.aspx

Btw, I totally agree with this thread, the Redskins are the Bills south. Me and my Redskin friends are have noticed this too and talked it about it just last week.

that was an interesting article. I will say this though, Snyder may be responsible for the debacle that the redskins have become, but many of the moves he makes, at least it gives off the impression that he's trying to win, and trying to add talent to the team. I never get that feeling from Ralph....

  10. He's only accurate because the guy only throws three to six yard dump offs. His deep passes are of the high arc variety and the majority of those have been at best below average throws. To be a successful starting NFL QB you must be able to throw a deep pass with some zip on the ball and you also have to be athletic enough to escape danger situations. Trent doesn't have those skills. We all know that his line sucks badly and we can sympathize with him on that, but Trent simply does not posses the necessary skills to be a successful starting NFL QB. He will be a career backup guy somewhere. He will never be a guy who can deliver a 16 game winning season. Our most probable future QB is currently playing on Saturdays this season.

Excellent point on his high arc deep passes. I have yet to see Trent throw a deep ball with any serious zip on it.

Sad thing is, yesterday, i was watching the Lions Steelers game, and Daunte Culpepper, while I'm not saying I'd rather have him here than Trent, was straight ZIPPING the ball twenty to thirty yards down the field, ON A ROPE. And damn those passes looked good. I found myself getting jealous that our QB doesn't even attempt more than 1 to 2 deep passes per game, heck 1 to 2 intermediate passes per game.

I can't believe I'm saying this. I'd rather have Daunte Culpepper here than Trent Edwards. Heck I'd rather see Fitz behind center.

  11. There's no way this team wins 7 games.

@ Jets - We get rolled up and smoked like a blunt at snoop dogg's house. 1-5

@ Panthers - Deangelo Williams and J Stewart rush for 200 yards combined. 1-6

Texans - Somehow, we pull this one out. The sun shines on a dogs arse every now and again. 2-6

BYE - Dick will still be the head coach.

@ Titans - Need that elusive first win? Play the Bills!! Titans beat the hell out of us. 2-7

@ Jaguars - Bills lose a close one in Jacksonville, but lose nonetheless. 2-8

Dolphins - Bills offense explodes for two touchdowns, we win. 3-8

    Jets(Toronto) - another embarrassment in Toronto. 3-9

@Chiefs - no repeat performance of last year. another loss. 3-10

New England - another patriot blowout. 3-11

Indianapolis - colts, having already secured a bye, beat us with 2nd and 3rd stringers. 3-12

@Atlanta - Bills barely bother to show up. 3-13

  12. Are we this stupid? Look who we put in the White House. A less-than-one-term Senator who, in less than a year, has pursued a mind boggling agenda of apologizing abroad for the US, nationalizing the banks and car companies, tried to nationalize health care, ignored our troops in Afghanistan, hired self-proclaimed Communists and NAMBLA-associated guys as czars, and on and on. I really can't believe this is what Americans truly want but yet this is what we have -all because people fell in love with his personality. So you ask are we really this stupid?

  13. I disagree. It seems to me there are a number of 'Trent haters' here just as there were a number of 'JP haters' and I think it's pathetic. People are actually happy that Edwards has been given an insulting nickname that has now received national attention. They must be so proud of their efforts. My apologies for lumping you into that group if you don't belong there.

As for his play, I want to see a smart game plan, and that includes a certain number of deeper throws. But it's been drilled into his head by the coaching staff to play it safe. Hopefully as the season progresses they will encourage him to take more shots down the field if that is what is required to have a more balanced offense. But that is as much dependent on the coaches and the young (and erratic) line as it is on Edwards. Does he need to play better? Yes. Does he need to be benched? IMO, that's insanity.

Great assessment. You make a very good point about the o-line. Hopefully by season's end, (or even better within a game or two, they can really jel and give trent some more time. I couldn't imagine anything more absurd than him being benched.

Let's hope today is the day Trent lets a few fly.....
