  1. He's only accurate because the guy only throws three to six yard dump offs. His deep passes are of the high arc variety and the majority of those have been at best below average throws. To be a successful starting NFL QB you must be able to throw a deep pass with some zip on the ball and you also have to be athletic enough to escape danger situations. Trent doesn't have those skills. We all know that his line sucks badly and we can sympathize with him on that, but Trent simply does not posses the necessary skills to be a successful starting NFL QB. He will be a career backup guy somewhere. He will never be a guy who can deliver a 16 game winning season. Our most probable future QB is currently playing on Saturdays this season.

Excellent point on his high arc deep passes. I have yet to see Trent throw a deep ball with any serious zip on it.

Sad thing is, yesterday, i was watching the Lions Steelers game, and Daunte Culpepper, while I'm not saying I'd rather have him here than Trent, was straight ZIPPING the ball twenty to thirty yards down the field, ON A ROPE. And damn those passes looked good. I found myself getting jealous that our QB doesn't even attempt more than 1 to 2 deep passes per game, heck 1 to 2 intermediate passes per game.

I can't believe I'm saying this. I'd rather have Daunte Culpepper here than Trent Edwards. Heck I'd rather see Fitz behind center.

  2. There's no way this team wins 7 games.

@ Jets - We get rolled up and smoked like a blunt at snoop dogg's house. 1-5

@ Panthers - Deangelo Williams and J Stewart rush for 200 yards combined. 1-6

Texans - Somehow, we pull this one out. The sun shines on a dogs arse every now and again. 2-6

BYE - Dick will still be the head coach.

@ Titans - Need that elusive first win? Play the Bills!! Titans beat the hell out of us. 2-7

@ Jaguars - Bills lose a close one in Jacksonville, but lose nonetheless. 2-8

Dolphins - Bills offense explodes for two touchdowns, we win. 3-8

    Jets(Toronto) - another embarrassment in Toronto. 3-9

@Chiefs - no repeat performance of last year. another loss. 3-10

New England - another patriot blowout. 3-11

Indianapolis - colts, having already secured a bye, beat us with 2nd and 3rd stringers. 3-12

@Atlanta - Bills barely bother to show up. 3-13

  3. Are we this stupid? Look who we put in the White House. A less-than-one-term Senator who, in less than a year, has pursued a mind boggling agenda of apologizing abroad for the US, nationalizing the banks and car companies, tried to nationalize health care, ignored our troops in Afghanistan, hired self-proclaimed Communists and NAMBLA-associated guys as czars, and on and on. I really can't believe this is what Americans truly want but yet this is what we have -all because people fell in love with his personality. So you ask are we really this stupid?

  4. I disagree. It seems to me there are a number of 'Trent haters' here just as there were a number of 'JP haters' and I think it's pathetic. People are actually happy that Edwards has been given an insulting nickname that has now received national attention. They must be so proud of their efforts. My apologies for lumping you into that group if you don't belong there.

As for his play, I want to see a smart game plan, and that includes a certain number of deeper throws. But it's been drilled into his head by the coaching staff to play it safe. Hopefully as the season progresses they will encourage him to take more shots down the field if that is what is required to have a more balanced offense. But that is as much dependent on the coaches and the young (and erratic) line as it is on Edwards. Does he need to play better? Yes. Does he need to be benched? IMO, that's insanity.

Great assessment. You make a very good point about the o-line. Hopefully by season's end, (or even better within a game or two, they can really jel and give trent some more time. I couldn't imagine anything more absurd than him being benched.

Let's hope today is the day Trent lets a few fly.....

  5. What does Edwards' play have to do with some actor and the fact that Edwards didn't watch highlights of the Vikings game? That's the topic in this thread.

And for the record, I could care less about 'checking down'. Edwards has played well in 2 of 3 games this year. Obviously it's been drilled into him to avoid make mistakes by his overly conservative coach. But yeah...people like you who can't get enough of typing 'checkdown' are really 'pulling' for him.

Like I said, i was agreeing with you that noone should give a crap about trent not watching the vikings game or tape of favre. but i do think, and it's only my opinion, that there are very few people on this board who are "trent haters". I think we are all frustrated. While that frustration should not ALL fall on Trent's shoulders, I think it's only fair some of the blame can go to him. When you have two receivers named Lee Evans and Terrell Owens, to not take more attempts to get them the ball has got to fall on the QB.

Maybe you could care less about Trent checking down every other play, but I myself, and I'm sure other fans as well would LOVE to see him take some shots. And I am a Bills fan, I pull for EVERY player on our team to succeed. But I also call a spade a spade. He checks it down too often. It's a fact.

  6. Who the hell is Dakota Fanning and what does it have to do with Edwards? And who the hell cares if Edwards hadn't watched tapes of Brett Favre? We're not playing the Vikings this week.

Honestly, the Edwards hatred is becoming more and more idiotic on this board. Some of you seriously need help.

do you really think it's Edwards hatred? Or just bills fans tired of trent checking down on every other play?

I have never been a hater of any bills player or coach, but my patience IS growing quite thin with Trent's play. I agree with you, I don't think it's a big deal that he didn't watch the Vikings game, but can you at least admit that Trent's play is nowhere near where it needs to be?

I am pulling for him and want nothing more than to see him succeed, but I think his time is running out...

  7. THIS is what scares me.

Even if the Bills beat the Dolphins badly it really won't mean a thing, because a few wins against bad teams (the Dolphins suck, I don't care if they won the division last year) won't change the fact that the Bills are treading in mediocrity with no end in sight.

I will definitely take a Bills victory, especially a beatdown, against a division rival, on the road no less. I don't think there's any way you can look at that as a bad thing...

you could argue that the dolphins are the best 0-3 team in the league.

  8. Great points Steely. I have a question for you and the other posters. Do you all think it's time for the Bills to scrap the no-huddle? In all honesty, I would've NEVER thought our defense would have held Brees in check for the entire game the way they did. Not only that, but they also did the same to Brady for 3 and a half quarters.

My humble opinion is that if our offense had put just a couple clock eating drives together to give them just a little more rest, they would've been able to get some more stops late in the game.

This no huddle does not seem to be doing anything for us....thoughts?

  9. Well, that makes sense. I figured 3 straight road games was a pretty brutal f'ing way to start a season.

As for their run game, Mike Bell is out. That's good news.

Definitely good news, I agree. Mike Bell is by far their best running back. Pierre Thomas is pretty good, but not an every down back, and Reggie Bush is solely a gimmick player, pass-catching back. He doesn't strike fear in me at all.

I don't know why, but i just have this weird feeling Buffalo is going to win this game...

  10. I am going into Monday Nights Game with a realistic out look knowing that the Bills fully deserve to be 10.5 point dogs to the Pats*. BUT if the Bills stare Goliath in the face and pull an upset of the Pats* could it be a turning point for this franchise? I mean we have been smacked around for so long that if we get some positive momentum going with a win over the favorite in the division (One we haven't been able to beat for quite some time) could it propel this team to a least a winning record?

If the offensive line handles a still good (Even without Seymour) Pats* front 7 than that might give them enough confidence to grow as a unit. If Trent can pick apart the Pats* secondary and put up a huge number on them could that inspire some confidence in his ability?

If the D shows up and puts pressure on Brady and the secondary is able to cover Welker and Moss than can't that unit get some swagger (Despite DJ's best efforts). I know these are a lot of ifs that are likely not to happen but its nice to dream and at 0-0 you could do just that.

Honestly this team has some talent and if they get a win a big win could it just give them enough confidence to know they could hang with the big dogs. The Bills can't big winning teams but maybe just maybe that one win could break the seal and give the team that edge.

So as I write this post from the land of sunshine and lollipops I am optimistic not because I think they will win but because I think that they have nothing to loose and everything to gain.

Those are alot of goliath-sized "if's", my friend. But I too share your optimism. Unfortunately, this is the first time in a long, long time for me that I feel like we have no real shot at winning a football game. I live in Atlanta, and I'm debating on whether or not to even go to the Cheyenne Grill to watch the game just for fear of wasting 20 bucks to see us get embarrassed yet again.

With that said, if the Bills do pull off the upset, I can promise you, Dick Jauron will be given a 5 year extension.
