  1. Caveman has it right. We don't have the luxury of pretending we can turn it on for the season opener. There's nothing to turn on. The offense will take a step back from last year. The line is abysmal and depth is worse. Fitz hasn't found a groove yet and the loss of Evans was a self inflicted wound that will come back and haunt us season long. Chan wanted to come out and see how his team played in base offense and defense. Well, mission accomplished, it was horrid. Channix have a few weeks left to get some talent and depth on the OL. We can spend $4 mil on a gimmick QB who will take a few snaps a game but won't spend a dime on OL talent that we can't pull off a waiver wire or PS somewhere. Pathetic. And what really amazes me is after drafting 650 or so DB's this past decade, our secondary is weak. As fans, let's watch to DL improve and rest our hats on that for the time being...that'w what we got folks.

    What he said.....

  2. Too writes make a wong.

In terms of trading Lee. I'm all for it. It's telling that Fizpatrick has chosen to throw more to guys like TO and Stevie over Lee the last two seasons. I'm in a rush but I just did a quick look and it appears he's had 12 100 yard receiving games over 109 NFL games. Far from great for a "#1 WR".

another excellent post....it's really hard to continue arguing how great of a wide receiver, or how valuable he is to the team with stats like that. I had no idea he's had 12 100 yard receiving games in 109 games.

If I had to throw an example, I would use Steve Smith. He has been the ONLY receiving threat on the Panther teams for years, and no matter what, the guy continued to produce, and not just produce, but dominate. and the guy is like 5'2. Name one viable receiving threat for the panthers in the last 5 years, other than Muhsin Muhammad, who was well past his prime...

The bottom line is, Lee Evans is a #2 receiver at best. Don't get me wrong, nobody wants him to succeed more than me, but he's just average...

  3. I am so sick of people making excuses for Lee Evans talking about how he gets double-teamed, thus his numbers are deceivingly low. Remember when he had a monster year in '06? The #2 WR that year was a recycled, running-on-fumes Peerless Price and his QB was Jonathan Paul. There is not one other WR in the NFL that puts up bad numbers and gets excuses made for them like this. Your numbers are a direct reflection of how good you are. Give or take- obviously Fitzgerald's numbers when down last year and Ochocinco's numbers will go up this year, but as a very general rule that is the case. The guy now puts up about 500 yards a year. That is Lee Evans. No better, no worse.

VERY hard to disagree with this post. +5

  4. They say he is a statue because they know nothing about him other than he is tall and ran a slow 40 time and they know nothing about what being mobile as a QB really is. You dont have to have a fast 40 time to be a mobile QB. There is a vast difference between a scrambling QB who is a run threat and a pocket mobile QB. Most people will tell you two of the most mobile QB's in the NFL are Manning and Brady and they are the two slowest. Its there ability to move and slide in the pocket and roll out when necessary that make them mobile and that has nothing to do with 40 times.

This kid is plenty mobile on that level, and thats the kind of mobility you want from a pure pocket passer anyway.

PS: The last 2 throws on that clip should shut anyone up who calls him a statue...

Great post. I personally am praying we draft Mallet tonight! I think he can be something special in the NFL.......

    Git r done Buddy!!!!!

  5. Saints A++...by far the best performance on the first day of the draft.

The Bills and Denver get A's for not blowing no brainer picks, I guess.

Atlanta gets an A for trading up for the best WR in the draft.

Arizona needed a QB. GAbbert would have helped their record more than Peterson ever will. Same for San Fran. All C's.

Who's the QB for Cincy? D.

Agree with you wholeheartedly on the Saints draft..... have to ask though, you think Julio Jones is better than AJ Green?

  6. Troup and Carrington did next to nothing last year(especially Carrington). Other than the fact they were drafted in the 2nd and 3rd rounds respectively, there were not many signs indicating that they will be future starters. They are just as likely to be busts. Only time will tell.

PS And this was on a defense that was HORRIBLE last year.

Agree with this post 100%. It is kind of weird hearing people talk about the promise and the potential of Troup and Carrington, when I didn't see anything remotely special out of either of them. I watched every game last year, and yes, I may have been inebriated in one or seven of those games, but I still don't recall seeing them do anything.

  7. Well at least I will post the LINK

I feel violated for just having seen that pic.....

Binged Bills 2011 NFL schedule....shopping results came up as Oct 9th @ cowboys....looks like the fish aregetting the Thanksgiving game

If that's the case, that effing sucks. The Dolphins aren't that much more of an attractive draw than we are, are they?
