  1. they already signed him to a pretty close to highest paid extension. he might get a little more coin but not franchise crippling. the issue there isnt cap - so drews contract means nothing as every team must spend that money. its whether they have the cash flow to support a payton contract and the answer is a big time yes.

That's a relief to hear. I really do hope he stays in New Orleans though. As much as I would love to have him as a Bill, it just isn't happening. I hope he goes back to the Saints and rights the ship that Goodell tried to sink....

  2. Sign none of them. Resign Byrd, Levitre, urbik and Mckelvin. Signing those guys will use up most of our money. Focus on adding a QB. Whether it be in the draft, trade or FA. Without a QB, any WR additions would be a waste of money as our QB wouldn't be able to get them the ball past 8 yards.

Spot on. If we re-sign Byrd, Levitre and Urbik, I'll be VERY pleased with those signings alone. McKelvin....ehhhh....don't think I'd lose too much sleep if we didn't re-sign him.

  3. I am really, really, really hoping we re-sign Byrd. He is one of our up and coming stars, and is going to be a stud in this league for years to come. Based on his comments, it's obvious he's not married to the idea of staying in Buffalo, but hell, who can blame him? He needs to be a priority signing, and if we have to overpay to keep him, I say we do it. Good things are on the horizon for this football team, I really do believe that...

  4. One thing I just thought about, if Payton IS allowed to come back after the regular season, he will be available to the highest bidder. With the way New Orleans has performed with him being gone, it only makes him THAT much more valuable. My guess is that when he signs his new contract, whether it be with the Saints or whoever, he will be the highest paid coach in the league. Now here's a question: Can Benson and Loomis afford to have the highest paid coach AND the highest paid player without handcuffing themselves financially?

Also, do you think Payton negotiated coming back before the season is over to drive up the price of his new contract?

  5. Dreaming of a new coach and QB. Sean Payton with perhaps a Geno Smith or Aaron Murray. Both wrapped in red/white/blue bows. Ah dreams...

The New Orleans thing is interesting. Sean Payton becomes a free agent coach, but NO would be crazy to let him get away. Besides, Ralph has probably never heard of the guy; Buddy will never fire his buddy; and he has time on his contract so we can't let that money go to waste.

The Bills will probably not draft a QB until later rounds (if at all), and then it'll probably be someone 5'2" from some southern school because "well Russell Wilson lit us up last season so we must go smaller!"

Will someone please wake me up when this franchise gets itself out of the mud?

First of all, if the Bills were to someone how get Sean Payton as their head coach, I will run butt naked down my street singing the Bills shout song until my voice gives out, or I'm arrested, whichever comes first.

The situation with Sean Payton is a very intriguing one, especially with rumors that he may be reinstated after the regular season is over. The Saints are my 2nd favorite team, so I really do hope he re-signs with them. I hope that he isn't planning on going to the Cowboys. But I just don't think he would ever want to come to the Bills...

  6. We don't really know enough about Whaley to make that call do we? However another yes man would continue the post Donahoe pattern.

You're right, we don't. I honestly am among those who think giving Whaley a shot at GM would be a good move. However, I guess that if he were to be promoted to GM, yet Chan stayed, it would give me the impression that he was forced to keep Chan from the higher powers that be. But, maybe Whaley thinks Chan is a good coach? I dunno...

  7. Unless that new GM was the man hired away from the Steelers a few years ago who is the most likely candidate. In house hiring seems to be the policy of Ralph for the GM spot since Donahoe damn near buried the franchise, so I would assume if this were the case Doug Whaley would be the next man for the job

My first thought is that if Nix was out that Whaley would be the man for the job, but would that be fair to Whaley to promote him, but tell him, "you're keeping Chan". Would Whaley even be okay with that, and if he was, doesn't that make him just another yes man??

  8. Clayton is on ESPN Chicago radio right and said Chan will be back but Nix might be out also thinks "Fitzgerald" will definitely be back next year.

Whoa I need to hear more on this!!! Clayton may not be uber reliable, but for him to make that statement he has to have SOME inside stuff....Nix might be out??? But Chan will be back? That doesn't even make any sense to me...if that in fact is the case wouldn't that stink of Ralph's insistence on keeping Chan? Wouldn't any new GM coming in want to bring in his own head coach? I'm confused...

  9. Sometimes when I watch him coach and hear what he says, (and see that terrible beard) I think he has a drug or alcohol problem. No sane, sober person could seemingly say and/or do all the ridiculous stuff he does. I think they should test him. I'm not even kidding.

No it wouldn't. When you win the fans expect more. Look at the Ravens canning their OC. Teams dedicated to winning expect to win, and demand winning. 8-5, that's not great either. It's average.

Great point. I've become so accustomed to losing that I wouldn't even know what to do with myself if were 8-5 at this point in a season....

  10. I'm just going to say that MD could learn a few things from Mantai T'eo.

I get that you can be sad after a close relative dies.

But that doesn't mean you let it affect your job so negatively. It's like when a soldier goes to war, the term is that to a large degree, they have to put their personal life in a box.

T'eo handled his grief constructively and in a way it seems to have actually helped his game, because it was a vent for his emotions. It doesn't seem like MD was (and maybe, is) coping healthily.

I understand the point you make, he still has a job to do. However, we can't say how we would react to such a tragic loss unless it happens to us, which I wouldn't wish upon anyone. He lost his kid brother. Everyone deals with tragedy differently, and let's not forget this is a 23 year old kid we're talking about. I think it speaks volumes to his character that he was able to "shake it off", so to speak, and get back into the game. I think he's dealt with it rather well for what it's worth.

  11. Every time Chan opens his mouth the more fecal matter dribbles out. He must have a blockage on the other end. I agree, the dude is spewing out stuff that is border line incoherent.

 Kind of reminds me of that episode of South Park, where everything Stan hears sounds like shyt.....I can just see Chan at the podium, and all of a sudden turds just start flying out of his mouth....
