  1. Dude, you do realize that his 1st 2 years he was IR'd, last year on the practice squad? You make it sound as though he's seen the playing field during the regular season, which AFAIK he has not until this year - and this year only on ST so far.

Graham, on the other hand, has had a shot at the playing field.. I think he is getting a break because he's been open at times and EJ has missed him short but I don't like his hands, I don't like his blocking, and I don't see his ability to avoid the jam on the line. I would like to see Easley get a shot.

I could be mistaken. I thought he had seen the field during the regular season before this year. Don't get me wrong, I am still pulling for him, and do hope he gets his chance to see some quality playing time, but at some point you have to cut your losses. It just always seemed like it was something with him...

  2. I have been rooting and pulling for Easley since he has been on the team. At some point, the injuries, all of the things that have gone wrong for the kid, they become a moot point. True, this year he has been solid on special teams, but every year in pre-season, he lights it up, has a highlight reel play, and then during the regular season, he's pretty much invisible (when healthy). I really think he needs to contribute as a WR this year, and in a noticeable way to earn a roster spot. Honestly I'm sure you can find a street free agent or late round draft pick at receiver to contribute on special teams. Just my humble opinion.

  3. The full list is pretty imposing! There are a lot of deserving players back-logged now. I'm not sure Reed will ever make it at this point - can you really argue that if it comes down to Reed or Marvin Harrison, you would snub Harrison?

The homer in me would have to give it to Reed. Plus, at least Andre never "allegedly" shot and killed someone. Sorry, had to go there.

Tasker, Polian, Bennett, Hull, all deserving as well in my opinion. Hell, I'd vote for pratically every Bill on the list.

  4. THIS will be our finest season in over a decade.

    Deal with it.

I wish I could share that level of optimism with you. Unfortunately, I've grown a bit numb to the Bills and their losing ways, last year I think being the first time ever that I just wasn't bothered a single bit by the outcome of the games. Even as far back as 2002, I can remember after a Bills loss I didn't want to talk to anybody the rest of the day, I wouldn't go online, or watch highlights, or anything. I even remember the year the Titans beat the Bills back in 99, on the bs kickoff return, my roommate in college was laughing during the kickoff screaming "oh my God!". He wasn't even a football fan. I didn't speak to him for two weeks.

I do believe this season will be an exciting one. I think we will see some awesome plays, and I think we will see our fair share of growing pains as well. I don't see playoffs on the horizon for this years Bills team, but you never know. As Chris Berman always says....

"THAT'S WHY THEY PLAY THE GAME!"

Go Buffalo in 2013! In EJ we trust!!!!

  5. Ugh, not having Gilmore is SUCH a difference maker. I really think we could have defended Brady in this game with him in there. He is so good in coverage. Oh well, he played last year and they still lost. So GO McLovin!!!!

Man I wish I could share your enthusiasm with the whole McLovin idea, but unfortunately, when I think of him as a starting corner, all I have are visions of him having his defender covered, and never, or rarely turning his head around to even look for the ball, and then....

    another 15-20-30 yard completion.

I sure hope he's learned a few things....

  6. Luckily he has inexperienced WR's. We need to play an aggressive style all over. Blitz, keep one safety back, bump and run. As Tyson said, everyone has a plan till they get punched in the face. We need to "punch" the Pat's new WR's in the face the first series of the drive.

Agreed. I would love to see our corners play a little bit more bump and run.

  7. I am sure the pats receivers are feeling pretty good against leodis mckelvin and co.

This, this, and this over again. Stevie is just being Stevie, and I don't really think anything he said was out of line. I'm more concerned with what Tom Brady and HIS receiving core are going to do Sunday. He has to have a full-on woody at the thought of facing our secondary. He's carved up a whole heckuva lot better secondaries that we will put on the field Sunday. I just pray our front four can get some consistent pressure or it's gonna get ugly, real, real quick.

  8. Thank you for recognizing the sarcasm -- I still find the Moorman lovefest/outrage that went with his release a little hard to understand. Yes he was a good punter but 1) he was a punter and 2) he's clearly on the decline.

As for Powell, I understand having a certain lack of patience with missed punts, but I'm willing to cut him some slack for a less-than-stellar 2012 since he was a rookie (and I'm not all that concerned with pre-season). From what I saw last year there's enough talent and performance to feel confident in his abilities and prospects for improvement. If you look at his stats, he was in the bottom half of the league, but so were Mesko, Kluwe and Moorman (they were all pretty comparable). So for people to seriously suggest cutting a young player for an older one who is no better (especially a week before the season) is crazytalk IMO.

Let's at least let the guy get a full year under his belt before we bring out the torches and pitchforks.

Very hard to disagree there. Let's hope he develops a little better this year.

  9. The Saints cut Leonhard.

    Oh ok.

I may be in the minority, but I just wouldn't be thrilled with bringing in Leonard. I guess you could say when he was here in Buffalo he was in his prime, and even then I would've considered him a marginal, modest player at best. Matter of fact, I heard more about him and his play when he was with the Jets.

  10. Brings some needed experience to the backfield. He also played in Pettine's defense. Might allow them to move A. Williams to corner while Gilmore is out.

Coach, wasn't A Williams a disaster at corner? Honestly I don't even really see him as a good safety, but he definitely played better there.

I just can't say I'd be happy with bringing in Leonard. He played two or three seasons with the jets, one with the broncos, and now on his Wikipedia page it has him with the Saints. But he's not on their roster on NFL.com...

  11. But, but, but, he's the greatest Bill of the past decade!

Powell could make the pro bowl and people here would still not like him. He's been the starter for what, ten games?

I respect and value all your opinions and comments, but I just have to ask; do you think Powell is a good punter? I know he hasn't been the starter that long, but have you seen this big leg of his everyone was talking about? I'm not gonna say I don't like him, but I've been far from impressed from what I've seen from him. And I don't think punter is really a position that you have to spend alot of time getting acclimated to, or "get up to speed", so I would fully expect he come in and immediately be, "who we thought he was".

I haven't watched every single one of his punts, and maybe I need to go back and look at some, but I have yet to see him just boom the stuffing out of the ball on a punt, and like JR in Pittsburgh was saying, I also have yet to see him plant one inside the 5 or 10 even.

Maybe it's like some of the posters are saying, since he's the holder, they don't want to rock the boat with Hopkins...

    Just my opinion....

  12. When Manuel struggles during the season (which he will), you keep playing him and let him work through it.

Even if we had a savvy vet, I wouldn't put him in just because Manuel hits a slump - barring injury or complete and sustained collapse over multiple games where it is clear Manuel is losing it mentally, of course. But I don't expect that to happen.

If the kid is your starter, play him. Ride the ups and downs. And evaluate his and the team's progress at the end of the year.

Agree 100%. We've invested in Manuel as our QB of the future, and I say let him sink or swim, throw him to the fire, see what the kid's made of, all those great cliches.

There's no doubt in my mind he's gonna have his games where he struggles. Let him work through them. I don't think many people on this board think we're going to have a 10, 11 or greater win season. I'm sure all of us hope we do, but I just don't think it's a huge possibility. So let him start from day one, and stick with him no matter what he does. I think to pull him when he gets in a slump would only make things worse. Even if he's ineffective for long periods, like you said, at the end of the season, go back and evaluate. I know it takes NFL players, most especially QBs, time to develop, but if he has a full year of play, I truly believe you'll know what you have with him moving forward....

  13. Love the effort, have to say not a big fan of it though. Like alot of the other posters have mentioned, I think it looks like someone drew it, by hand. Don't think it looks professional enough for the side of an NFL helmet.

Plus, I think I'm too happy with the charging buffalo....

Again, great effort though by a fellow Bills fan!
