I have no clue how that Dad didn't start breaking everything in sight including the other kids face.  Kid should be suspended from ever playing sports again.

I wonder if the kid is old enough for assault charges.

The biggest thing in hindsight was ruining Leia's exit. The sacrifice made by random what's-her-name purple-haired commander would've been the perfect ending for Leia. They seemed to lean into the strength of the female characters and had one of the strongest female characters in sci fi history on tap, yet chose some unknown new character for the big sacrifice...it had no weight.

I would have given Ackbar that sacrifice.  But yeah, it needed to be someone established, not a brand new character who had maybe 15 minutes of screen time.

Article didn't seem to say, but anyone else know if this will be the special edition version from the 90s hitting the theaters?

I assume it probably will be as the originals seem to have been erased from existence. Though if somehow it was the original 1983 cut I would definitely go see it.

I didn't hate the changes to Empire but the other two were tough to stomach. That new CGI song and dance number in Jabba's palace and the new ending instead of the Ewok song.... 🤢🤮🤬

Messing with John Williams music... what could possibly go wrong?🙄

  3. Sorry, I'm late on this one.  As the rule is written, it doesn't matter that the ball was in the penalty area.  I don't know the area in question, but if the players thought it was possible that the ball could be lost but still in the non-penalty area, the provisional is allowed.  I'm picturing a scenario where you're not sure whether or not the ball actually made it into the pond, you're allowed to hit the provisional as long as you announce it.

That q-school story though, that sounds like a major screw job.  Even if they all saw the splash, I think you could still put up a reasonable argument that it's possible the ball skipped or ricocheted off a rock back beyond the stakes.

The problem with the sequel trilogy isn't so much the protagonist (though Finn is the more natural protagonist than Rey) or even ruining Luke's character but the laziness that led to both of those decisions. Oh, Anakin wasn't the chosen one after all. Oh, look, Palpatine is actually not dead. Oh, the Empire wasn't actually defeated. Oh, Leia never went on to be a great stateswoman. Oh, no, Luke never really made it as a Jedi Master. Han is never redeemed from his criminal past. Let's just reset all of that so we can just hit rewind and run the same story as the original trilogy all over again. Junk collector (moisture farmer) from backwater planet Jakku (Tatooine) encounters a BB-8 (R2 unit) who reveals information that represents the New Republic's (Rebel Alliance's) only hope to destroy the First Order (Empire). Press play, #######s.

I would have liked to see how things would have played out if all three movies were designed with the same vision in mind.  Johnson's movie may have worked without the Star Wars label, but you can't just try to reinvent everything  40 years after the fact right in the middle of a planned 3 part story.  Instead we were left with him tearing up everything Abrams started and then Abrams picked right back up as if that never happened.

Me personally, I had no issue with the repetitive nature of that first movie.  It was fun.  They just dropped the ball big time following that up.

  5. I know it's a big thing in comic books, but I really wish they hadn't gone with this kid teams approach for the movies.  It worked with Spiderman mostly because that's an iconic character, but also because he was the only "kid" superhero at that point.  Now every single movie seems to have one.  If they're going to have a bunch of kids fighting Kang in their next Avengers movie, it's going to suck.

Guardians next month is probably the last hope for a while for a movie that isn't packed full of superhero kids.

Aggravating loss. Getting a point doesn’t really feel like a consolation prize when it comes against a bottom 5 team.

Why do they always seem to struggle against crappy teams?

Over the last month or two they've been massacred twice by Philly and once by Columbus.  Hmmmm, where would those 6 points put them in the standings?

I can see him getting games this year based on where the Sabres are positioned. He and his agent could demand at least one game to burn a year of the ELC, or if the Sabres are really out of contention 10 games based on this.

A player doesn’t accrue a completed season for the purposes of free agency, salary arbitration eligibility or expansion protection until he has played 10 games in a season, but for the purpose of burning a year of the ELC, one game is all it takes.

But these ELC rules make my head hurt. Devon is already age 21, which i guess affects how long the ELC is in place and can it slide if not in the NHL. I am not sure if a year gets burned of the ELC next year if he is the AHL because of that...like i said, damn rules make my head hurt.

It doesn't matter whether or not he plays.  The team can (and will) agree to having the first year of the ELC burn.

Just made the call to cancel after about 25 years. Offered to give me the entertainment package for about $50 a month for a year. Anyone have any regrets changing from DirecTv to YouTubeTV?

So basically their offer to keep you is "here, spend a little more with us"?

I'm in the process of switching over to youtubetv right now.  The wife wants to burn through some stuff she has DVRed before I make the call to DirecTV.  I'm pretty sure I can just get all of the stuff she has recorded through the network websites though.

Hopefully he has a similar breakout to Thompson and we are saying this contract looks like a steal in a year or two!

It's scaled back a bit, but isn't he in the middle of that breakout already?  Just like Thompson he's already topped his career highs.

Should just be reiterations of the same 5-10 bands for everyone

I'd run with this list.  And I quickly realize that there's only one lead singer left among the group.

The Roku app on my phone can control any Roku, as long as you are both on the same wifi network.  I've used it to play tricks on some relatives when they're trying to watch something on TV.

I miss the days where multiple cable boxes in the house all used the same exact remote.  There were so many pranks.  I feel like we were also able to change our neighbor's tv through the window, but I may be making that one up.

what hand gestures will bring up the netflix app, go to the search function, then type in letters for what I am looking for?

The alexa-powered (or other voice recognition app) remote works just fine.

Other than the remote thing, I think it all sounds good, especially the charging function, however I wouldnt trust the first generation of it.  I wonder how light it will be that it sticks?  I also wonder what size is the $3,000 version.  I just got a 75" TV mounted in my living room and it is 75 pounds and no sticking/adhesive would hold that up securely and safely.  If there is an adhesive that would do the trick, Im sure it would tear out a chunk of drywall when it is time to replace the TV or move.

I'm sure it already exists, but the cell phone seems like the most obvious thing to replace the remote.  You already have it in your hand anyway.  The only potential issue is when more than one person has control of the tv, marriages will end.

Marvel Phase 4 has generally been aimless and I'm kind of out on Marvel as a result. I'm a big Oscar Isaac fan and I just couldn't enjoy Moon Knight, it's just not my cup of tea. The Boys on amazon I had high hopes for but I think I'm too old now to "get it" since it's so over the top crude.

The Boys definitely went way over the top this season.  It was always pretty gruesome in the first two season, but it at least felt like it fit in with the story and the show.  This season, they were clearly doing things just to see if they could get away with them.

Tage makes no sense.  The guy is 6'7" but his greatest talent is operating in small spaces and a lightning release.  Its like watching a giraffe do perfect ballet in a phone booth.  His stick is 8 feet long and his wingspan is that of an albatross but he has elite puck handling skills in traffic and gets shots off with minimal room to operate.  He is still filling out his adult frame and will only get stronger, potentially faster.

I thought I had heard them say recently that he actually uses a much shorter stick than you'd expect.  I want to say it was Tuch who actually has the longest stick on the team.

Rebounds happen.  The defenders were standing around watching the shooter instead of worrying about opposing skaters coming to the crease.

But rebound that land directly behind you in the crease cannot happen.  If you were to ask UPL, I'm sure he was kicking himself over that one.  A goalie needs to direct those rebounds to spots where the team can clean them up.  That one was probably the worst possible option.  He's improved damn near miraculously in the past month, but that one makes me worry a bit.

  15. 51 minutes ago, Doc said:

Yup.  UPL allowed 4 goals, but those 2 Ovie shots were unreal and that Dowd one was a defensive breakdown.

That Dowd goal was completely on UPL, horrible rebound control on a low angle shot.  I'm not there on him yet, but he's certainly cut back on those types of garbage goals.  There's definitely potential now to move forward beyond this year.
