  1. I'm starting to regret that I unfollowed pretty much anyone on facebook who was posting any of the political stuff from either extreme. I'm not seeing much beyond the "won't somebody please thing of the children" posts so far. I may need to figure out how to undo that move so I can find some entertainment.
  2. Honestly, I missed the goal. But an entire game goes well beyond just a single play. I now I'm over-simplifying it, but I have two takeaways from the whole thing, one's good and one's bad. With this diminished AHL roster, they only gave up a single goal. At the same time, that same roster only put up a single goal. As guys get healthy and return to the roster, the team should get better on both sides of the puck and they're going to start putting more pucks in the net. If that defensive structure is there already, this team is going to start winning games.
  3. So they had to make a few minor wording changes here and there, but the vast majority of that story last night had absolutely nothing to do with the election results. The biggest running joke of the whole night was the whole Bill Clinton thing and that worked no matter who won. Hillary recruiting Gerald also worked either way. And speaking of Gerald, that's one character they really haven't done much with over the years, but his little speech to Kyle was priceless. He'll never approach Randy Marsh status, but he's finally somewhat interesting.
  4. Ruth Bader Ginsberg is a celebrity? And am I the only one who doesn't know who half of those people are? Ok, I've seen most of the names, but if they were to walk by me right now, I'd have no clue who they are.
  5. I think that game was about as much as you can ask for from the current lineup. Like I said earlier, that was an AHL roster on the ice last night. Dressing so many guys who should probably never sniff an NHL roster (Schneider, Grant, and Carrier) and guys who aren't ready for that level yet (Baptiste, Nelson), any team should be thrilled when they only allow a single goal. This game is the perfect example of something you said earlier, the team treading water until they can get their top guys back. I can live with a bunch of fake losses right now, it means so much more for the future. And I'm sure some will question my placement of Carrier in the two groupings above. I haven't seen enough yet, but I'm not really sure which of the two categories he falls in.
  6. They can go just about anywhere with this one. I wouldn't be surprised if they just throw away the current storyline completely for one week and go with something off the wall.
  7. I went to see Strange last night but the theater was broken. I did get three free tickets out of the deal though... wait, make that two free tickets since there was no refund
  8. The only way I'd ever do this is with continuous overtime. No points (including the fake winner point they hand out right now) should ever be determined by a skills competition.
  9. I don't think anyone said a single word in my line. Instead, I had fun playing a game of "guess who they're voting for". The guy in front of me wearing the NRA shirt, is that the election equivalent of the claim that you should never wear a shirt from a band at their concert? Or would it be the people wearing american flag shirts? Wait a second, maybe I was that guy. I was wearing my USA hockey hat that I wear all the time.
  10. I had the same thought about his father. I can't get a feeling though for whether they'll expand the character for a while or if he'll just become another red shirt Noah-style.
  11. Speaking of the kids, I can't wait until everyone is healthy (ok, that probably never happens). They need to get Fasching down to Rochester for some development time. It'll be much better for him in the long term.
  12. The other day, the idea popped into my mind of how they could work in a lot of strategy if they ever did wind up trying to add in the DH. I haven't really taken the time to think it through too much, so it may be complete crap. But anyway, I thought about tying the DH directly to the pitcher. Once you take the pitcher out of the game, the DH is out too. At that point, you have the choice of either making the pitcher bat or selecting a new DH. You have the same choice at the start too, whether or not you want to let your starting pitcher hit. But anyway, I can't remember a single deciding game in any sport where I genuinely do not care who wins but yet still want to watch. There's nothing better than just kicking back and enjoying.
  13. I haven't heard anything to suggest they'll move away from the divisional format. They want to boost rivalries and this system lends itself to that.
  14. I think I had heard that this kingdom episode was originally planned to be the 3rd episode, but they flipped it with next week's. That could give you an indication of what kind of ugliness is in store if they did in fact decide to lighten the mood between those two episodes.
  15. Both of these points really go hand in hand with what I want to say. Just wait until Okposo doesn't have to be the top guy on the team anymore and when Ennis gets bumped down one line. This team is going to have so much more scoring talent once/if everyone gets healthy. It sucks that we have to wait, but you're getting hints of what they're trying to build long-term.
  16. I couldn't help but wonder what the hell is going on throughout most of the episode. That sit down between Carol and Ezekiel made it all worthwhile though. We've been handed a character with the potential of being the male version of Carol. I hope he lives up to that level of badassery.
  17. I'm getting really sick of this thing where buffalo teams only win when I'm not watching.
  18. I bet it gets explained during the show.
  19. With all the stupid clown stories, how have I not heard about this 31 movie until now? It always felt like a crazy promotional scheme for some movie.
  20. I guess so. Basically what I need to happen is for this guy to yell out "get me a hacksaw" after going vampire on some guy's neck and all will quickly be forgiven.
  21. I don't know what it is, but that guy is not a very badass looking Jack Bauer replacement.
  22. To me, it's still more about next year than anything. That was the point where I expected them to start making some noise. For now, they just need to tread water and gel a little bit until they get the fire power back. Longterm, the front office needs to focus on strengthening the blue line. That's what will really help them if they're ever going to make the leap.
  23. I'm with you 100%. Guys like Moulson who routinely wind up in the right places, that's not luck. He's a very smart player and he's exactly the kind of guy that can help a team thrive as a secondary scorer. This team would look a hell of a lot better if he was putting up these goals while the team wasn't missing at least 50 goals from their roster in the form of Eichel/Kane. I hope he can keep it going whenever they get back.
