  1. Its not based on awards or playing time, every year people bring this up and it’s not true if you look at the history of comp picks The Rams got 2 3rd round picks solely because they had a net lose in FAs and Trumaine Johnson(who was terrible this year) signed a contract with an AAV of 14.5 million a season and Sammy Watkins ( who was average) to over 15 mill AAV. It’s based on Players lost vs players gained. Then based on AAV and comparing and crossing out equal salaries.
  2. The reason why they can do this has more to do with the fact that Brady and Belichick can cover up weaknesses because their two of the best all time. Get used to it the Pats are gonna be in line for two more 3rd rounders most likely next near with Trent Brown and Trey Flowers as FAs
  3. With only 6 FA(none of which are in high demand) and the hope the Bills sign multiple Free Agents this off-season, don’t expect any next year either. Clay doesn’t count for us since we released him.
  4. Its very easy actually. The hidden magic formula is really Players gained vs players Lost. If you have more players lost then gained you qualify for a compensatory pick. Then they take the Average Annual Salary Of the players you gained and the players you lost and match them as equally as possible. To have a player qualify thy need to meet a certain salary threshold as well. Players signed that were cut from other teams do not count in the players gained column For Example: Buffalo lost: Seantrel Henderson Preston Brown E.J Gaines Joe Webb Buffalo gained: Murphy Lotelelei Stanford McCarron Bodine Bush 6 gained 4 lost = no picks Now the Patriots were a question Patriots lost: Nate Solder Malcolm Butler Danny Amendola Dion Lewis Joe Bademosi Cameron Fleming Patriots Gained: Adrian Clayborn Jeremy Hill Patriots lost 6 Gained 2= 4 possible comp picks Solder AAV is over 15 Butler AAV is over 12 Amendola is almost 6 Lewis almost 5 Bademost 3.1 Fleming 2.5 Clayborn is 5 AAV Hill was 1.3 So now match em up. Lewis and Clayborn cancel each other and Hill and Fleming cancel each other This leaves Solder= 3rd round, Butler 3rd round, Amendola 6th round, Bademosi 7th round based on their AAV
  5. To give a little perspective, Jim Irsay was fined 500K and suspended 6 games for drug charges. I consider this to be worse even before you find out the details of exactly what’s goin on. I see at the very very least a 1 million dollar fine and 10 games(speculation). The more details that come out the worse it will get
  6. Exactly, being an old man getting some action and paying for it is one thing. Yea it would be frowned upon by the league, he would get a fine, a suspension etc. They have it on videotape of him being there. The girls were being sex trafficked to the US from other countries. Even the association of that is why the NFL will do something stern. You have an owner of the NFL at a prostitution ring with forced girls on video and he's one of the most influential owners in the league. He might get the charges reduced the but the "protecting the shield" he didn't do.
  7. This is a real bad look for the NFL. I mean I’m laughing but obviously Kraft being one of 32 is a huge deal but he also was one of the biggest decision makers in league circles being on all kinds Of committees. if this is as bad as it appears, I would suspect the NFL would pressure him to sell the Patriots and go live under a rock. I’m not even sure they would want his son or the Kraft name associated with the NFL.
  8. As a # 2 it’s a good pickup, as a # 1 it’s meh. I expect him to get 4-6 mill a year just because of the expanding cap
  9. Garrett Bradbury OC NC State Chris Lindstrom OG Boston College T.J. Hockenson TE Iowa Terrill Hanks is the perfect undersized former safety who became a LB. Much like Milano and Dorian O'Daniel who the Bills brought in for a pre draft visit last year. Dalton Risner OT Kansas State
  10. This is not really trying to knock Astro, but Drafttek's rankings of players are absolutely terrible. I literally laugh where some of their players are ranked....Hockenson being one of them.
  11. I think thats the only cut you'll see before FA or the draft. Maybe once they sign a guy they feel is better etc, but I doubt they just get rid of Bodine, Ducasse or others without a replacement already in house. Its not like any of these guys are killing our 80 million in cap space.
  12. See I would agree with you in most years about Hockenson and agree in a much stronger draft maybe he goes 20-30. I keep hearing that he isn't a transcendent type and that may be true it might not be. I say this, this draft at the top stinks name me guys that you KNOW FOR SURE are going to be a star. Nick Bosa.....that might be just about it in this draft. There is no sure fire QB. There is no top 10 RB. No Top 20 WR. There now maybe 5 Edge or DT's that are worthy of the 9th overall pick(Williams, Bosa, Allen, Gary, Oliver), 1 LB(White) and No DB's worthy of the 9th pick. Greedy Williams is now being talked about as a mid to late first round pick. Thats why I brought him up, I think he's an interesting case. I think if he runs 4.55 or 4.6 he should be in consideration. If he runs 4.7-4.8 then your probably right he's a late 1 or two. His testing results will tell a lot about him. I dont expect him to run 4.4 to justify picking him tho.
  13. I’m actually surprised how split this thread is on him. I was expecting much more negativity tbh when I started this thread.
  14. The thing is he doesn’t even look filled out yet either with that size he could probably add another 10 easy
  15. I wanted to bring up this guy, a Tight End from Iowa who most consider to be a mid to late 1st round pick. I kind of think that if he tests well at the combine that he could jump into the top 15 especially with a bad group of 1st round worth of prospects. The kid can do it all. He is not one of these new age flex TE's who only play WR and he isn't an nonathletic inline Y TE. I think this kid could play H-Back, Y, or Flex TE in the NFL creating mismatches like Gronk or Kelce.......and he lovessss to block so he would help in the run game. I wanted to see what the thoughts were of him. I would assume most would say only if we trade down from 9 or if we trade up from 40 but I was curious what the boards opinion of him are especially if you think he could be an instant impact guy who can help out the development of Allen. I wet your whistle with some of his bigger pass plays this year and then the 2nd video focuses on his video analysis of his blocking.
  16. https://overthecap.com/position/right-tackle/ Here's a link to the RT contracts in the NFL right now. The highest paid is Lane Johnson with 11.8 Million AAV. Havenstein and Massie never decided to hit the open market essentially giving their original team a discount, especially Havenstein. James and Williams, even if they don't get to to #1 on this list are going to make 10-13 Million dollars AAV. I never said you said anything about judicious but the General Manager of the Buffalo Bills has. Talking about how he isn't going to put the Bills back into that situation. Giving 10-12 Million dollars a year to a RT, and then turning around and giving DeMarcus Lawrence the 2nd highest contract behind Khalil Mack for NFL Defensive players is not judicious(the words of the general manager). Your already setting yourself up for disappointment. Is it possible they get 1 for that salary? Sure, but I doubt they go for both and its more likely they don't go for either.
  17. You do realize that either Williams and/or James are going to be the highest paid RT in football at 12 a year and that DeMarcus Lawrence is probably going to get like a 120 million dollar deal. That’s not what people would call judicious
  18. I'll bet anything that the contract is front loaded. The Bills have Dawkins, Teller on rookie contracts and whatever big OL FA or FA's they sign. That gives them wiggle room to back load the big contracts and front load Long's. That way Long is off the books when both Teller and Dawkins coming up as FA's
  19. The Bills depth on the offensive line is terrible. As it sits right now, the Bills are starting Russell Bodine, Vlad Ducasse, Jeremiah Sirles, Dawkins, and Teller with Ike Boettgger and Conner McDermott as the primary backups. It is straight up pathetic. My guess is the Bills will try him at Center and if he can't handle it they will use him as a swing Center and Guard backup because they do need some former starting depth as well as starters.
  20. I'm not going to say yes or no. Hes obviously a very talented football player who made a really dumb(or multiple dumb) decisions. I will say this. Buffalo is the perfect place for him. We constantly hear from former players who left or have played on opposite teams that there isn't much to do in Buffalo(as it pertains to night life). There is obviously a need for the Bills at RB, he can focus on football without the issues a "big" city would offer, and the Bills are an after thought when it comes to the National media. I'm not saying that it wont draw attention, but it will definetely not draw attention for as long as it would if he were to go to a New York, Washington, or Chicago. The Bills have taken shots before with Richie Incognito being the biggest one obviously but I think it might just work. Everyone talks about the struggle of getting the best players here without overspending on big contracts. Well here's a perfect opportunity. Top 5 RB, looking for a 2nd chance, who will come in at a decent price, that will start here for a long time(pending he stays out of trouble).
  21. The Patriots and Belichick have been exploiting the Rams RG all game long. He has been terrible. Every blitz and twist is going through him.
