From Steelers POV it’s a genius move. They weren’t going to draft one of the top 6 QBs and now Pickett has legit cheap competition.

Now for the Russell Wilson side which I don’t understand:

All in all it wasn’t a bad move because he could very well beat out Pickett (I doubt it) but the smart move would’ve been to wait

The issue is that if the rumours about him being a locker room cancer are true, then he wouldn't have a lot of suitors. If there were many teams vying for him  he would have gotten more money. If not for anything else, to not have a year on his resume with such a dip in salary.

Much like Belichick, the market may not have been as crazy about him being available

Man this really screws the 49ers. They lose one of their better players, and owe a $26.1M dead cap hit this year and a $14.8M dead cap hit next year.

And they will have to pay Purdy in the very near future

Not suggesting that all. Just trying to understand why you bring in a backup who proved himself totally useless when called upon last year and costs more money than a rookie would? Heaven forbid if Josh got injured but I would want somebody who might be able to win a game. Even Rudolph was better than Trubisky last year.

If I remember correctly, Trubisky was QB under Canada and Rudolph played after Canada was fired.

That's why, Its not a fair comparison between Trubisky and Rudolph.

Not everyone can golf, but most everyone can drink and play games. What if we rented out Dave & Busters for the night before?

I went to a private party there and it was a blast. Lots of drinking, wings, and games. Drunk skee-ball is more fun than it has any business being.

If SDS declared the venue to be the Canadian ballet, half of TBD would show up including @JÂy RÛßeÒwho will send an apology & Happy Birthday card to his mom with a $10 Target gift certificate.

Of all the moves yesterday, this one had me puzzled. Trubisky looked so bad last year with the Steelers. Why not sign a rookie instead of this retread. Is this just a move to make Josh feel comfortable? Like theres no competition whatsoever for the starting job? What's the logic here?

Not puzzling at all. Trubisky comes across as a good team mate and smart. It is too bad his in-game performances have been bad. But in the Bills' situation, he is better than Kyle Allen. Depending on how the draft comes to us, I would support taking a 5th round or lower flyer on a QB in addition to having Trubisky.

As for his stint with the Steelers, I wonder how much of his awfulness (and yes he looked terrible in the couple of games I watched) was due to the OC Canada and how much was due to his limited skills.

This is something I will staunchly disagree with. We have to start being ruthless. The Pats were a dynasty for 20 years because of that ruthless mindset. The Chiefs are now following suit. Morse has done everything right since day one. He has been a model player. And that should have zero impact on our decision to keep or cut him.

It's much easier for a FO to follow that strategy after winning one SB. But Bills have to be careful. Esp on the OL which they finally got right. Don't mess with that at this point.

We still need depth and a succession plan for older linemen like Morse and Dawkins. So, at least one OL needs to be drafted in April.

I would like to start discussing things we should do this September for the 25th Anniversary Tailgate... Current ideas:

    1. Shirts with a 25th logo
    2. Looking at a Dinner Cruise
    3. Golf tournament
    4. Bottle of Blanton awarded to best tailgate sandwich (inside joke)
    5. etc...

Looking for a discussion on activities, venues, etc....

Please take off-topic conversations elsewhere. Much appreciated.

What a milestone ! I would be interested in a shirt but will be tough to make a trip to the Buffalo area.

Dion is a pretty solid starting LT and had a very good year overall last season. He seems like a quality teammate.

    Should we Extend/Restructure or Trade?

    a few things:

the Bills like Ryan VanDemark. Do they like him enough to see him as a starting OT?

I would like to extend Dawkins while also drafting a T no later than Rd 5

McDermott has to change his philosophy on this wanting vets at all positions.  KC starts rookies, the Lions had 4 start last year I think.

Gotta draft better and coach better.  Time for the youth to start.

There has to be a blend at each position group

    1. You don't know what you have in a rookie. A vet's book on capabilities, ceiling and floor is pretty much written

    2. Vet brings knowledge and experience to each group

While Beane did go heavy on vets earlier, he needs to blend more youth and bring down the average age of each group.

  10. So if we pick anything than the best WR left at our spot, we are highly unlikely to then trade up from Rd 2 to jump the Chiefs who will also be looking to draft a WR. Do we really want the best available WR at 32 to go to the Chiefs? This year, with a not premium supporting cast, they won the SB.

We have to get out of this D mindset. Need to out gun the Chiefs. Don't over think this, Beane

No tags expected on some of the big names - Jacobs, Barkley, Henry, Pollard, Ekeler and more. This RB free agent pool is gonna be stacked. Guessing we can upgrade from Harris/Murray/Johnson and it wont cost much at all. Here is who we are looking at:

    Barkley

    Jacobs

    Ekeler

    Henry

    Pollard

    Swift

    Dillon

    Singletary

    Moss

    Dobbins

    Edwards

    Elliott

    Edwards-Helaire

    Gibson

    McKinnon

    Murray

    Harris

    Akers

    Kelley

Which of these have the best hands to catch out of the backfield? That and a ~$1.5MM AAV price tag will be a good indication of who we will sign.
