Nick Wright wants him to go to the Jets though. If McDermott gets fired, would you guys be open to this?

As HC, YES. as GM and HC, no.

But as long as Allen is still our QB.

You asked "if", but depending on how this season goes, I may even advocate firing McD at end of season if BB is still available and interested to be our HC.

Put emotions aside and have a singular focus on The Goal,  folks.

Serious question - would Jewish commentators and media personnel then refer to him instead as "AD"  or "Mitchell"?

Time is supposedly a global magazine.

Mahomes is a sportsman and entertains  sports fans. His influence is in a sports world. In the grand scheme of things, with so many social and political things going on in the normal world, the importance of his zone of influence is miniscule.

For Time to name him a top 100 influential person (of the world) is an indication of how far that magazine has fallen.

That's just a handful of people on here. It's all for the same reason, which can be found in this revealing thread from the past:

Just reading the first 3 pages was revealing. Even some respected posters were sure he was a bad pick. Just wow!

I guess that I’m less concerned with S. They can get by with what they have now and draft a it in the 4th. They would have Edwards, Rapp, Cam and a pick. My goal though is to sign Justin Simmons post June 1. Either way though, S isn’t a spot to use prime assets on. It’s not an expensive position.

There is a gap between Thomas and the top 3 IMO (although I like him). WR is infinitely more important than their other needs. You address that to the best of your ability before you worry about anything else. I’m not saying, “skip Odunze because you might get a lesser safety.” I just don’t care.

    Needs to me look like:

    WR1

    WR2

    everything else

WR needs trump others, of that there is no doubt. But I must disagree to use up lot of resources in this and 2025 draft to move into the top 10.

I just hope we don't use our first pick on anything but a WR.

I guess that if they go up into the top 10, my hope is that they can preserve 60  in this draft. Maybe the package is something like 28, 128, ‘25 1st & ‘25 Vikings 2nd. They could then use 60 to get a guy like Pearsall. Now, you’re in a good spot at WR and a GREAT spot financially at the position.

If we use #60 for a trade up or for a second WR, I am concerned about the S position. While I understand not drafting for need, we still need to fill the pipeline.

How would you propose filling the S , and another EDGE, in this off season?

Wouldn't a more modest trade up for a Thomas and preserving our picks this year for S, EDGE, OL make more sense?

But you don't need a #1. You just don't. KC certainly didn't have one last year. Plenty of good teams have good groups rather than a #1 and can still be plenty productive.

With James Cook and particularly Kincaid, we show every sign of being able to have plenty of success if they can have a couple of WRs step up to #2 status, and I think it's pretty likely Shakir for one makes that leap.

I am with you on this. What is important is that there are receivers to challenge the D on every part of the field. We already have several to cover the short to medium (Kincaid, Shakir, Samuel). As long as we find 1 (ideally 2) through the draft and post draft cuts/trade, we didn't really need someone we can call a #1 for this year.

Shakir, Kincaid and Samuel have good hands. As long as we have receivers who can be the go to guys for Allen at every level, we will be fine. But we are not there at this point if time

If it's desired to merge this into page 170 of the Diggs traded for picks thread, feel free

I just thought this was interesting.  I won't give my spin on it.

Now I like Dawkins even more. Much like @Augie, I too thought "This guy can run for President"

I voted no. We need multiple receivers and blockers which are both said to be plentiful in this draft. Why would we want to trade away early draft picks? This would be an impulsive, poorly thought Whaley type move.

    Jmo.

I really feel we need a super impactfull WR to strike fear in opposing defenses. But i agree that draft capital is valuable this year due to the multiple holes (don't forget Safety 😉). To that end, I wouldn't mind using our 2025 2nds to move up into the lower teens to grab a Thomas.

I didn't vote because I am okay with such a modest trade up but not a monster one as Kirby is advocating.

No. He will go sign in Dallas as his brother wanted when Cee Dee Lamb leaves in UFA to come play with Allen instead of Dak. 😎

Part of me wishes Jones drafts a WR with their first pick and makes Lamb available post-draft. The $$ though ....

Just a little note that asking for approval (implying that Josh needs to sign off on the move, or has a hard veto) is different from asking for input.

I'm pretty sure Josh doesn't have a veto or need to approve the move.

I'm also pretty sure if Josh gave his input that "I really think Stef and I have great days ahead of us next year - we've been talking once or twice a week, he's planning to meet up and throw with me this month and again in May after OTAs, I really think we're good now!" that would have been weighted heavily.

But I don't think that was his input.

I am going to take a little detour into amateur psychology....

In a toxic relationship, some becoming worse like battered-spouse syndrome, the victim is incapable or unwilling to take action. It takes an outside person to observe the goings-on, attempt to intervene or then take action on behalf of the spouse.

While the above is a bit dramatic, the way I see this apply to a Diggs-Allen relationship is that Diggs could have been the constant complainer and psychological bully. Allen is too nice a guy to drag this into the public eye. I doubt these things only happened behind Allen and Diggs' closed doors. McD and Beane must have seen this. In this situation, Beane would have been right to not wait for Allen to say "I am done with this guy".

In this situation, I agree with you that Allen would not have uttered those type of words expressing support to keeping Diggs.

Beane said publicly that he informed Allen that teams were inquiring about Diggs.

Yep that's what Beane said in yesterday's press conference.

But he said things like "I didn't want him blindsided" and "it (trading Diggs) wasnt 100% off the table".

But that did not mean that Beane asked for Allen's approval. Beane must have been observing the goings on for the past 2 years, esp after the last contract adjustment for Diggs and his patience had run thin. And then thought - screw this drama esp when Diggs doesn't help put us over the top. At that point, he did not need to seek Allen's approval and I am guessing he did not. Keeping Allen in the loop (obvious and respectful) is different then seeking his blessing.

I mentioned it earlier in the thread, I saw another discussion about the dead cap hit, but who were we going to sign? What big FA's were left for us to sign? Unless Beane was banking on making some blockbuster player trade this year, it makes more sense to take the entire cap hit this year.  .

A WR who fits may become available after the draft , Beane said that. Then there is post June 1 cuts. While hope is not a strategy, the likelihood of one of the two occuring is pretty high given the plethora of good WRs coming into the league via draft.

I can't say that's true for me (the "eager to put my boot on it" part).

I was surprised, taken aback, and I feel that the Bills are a worse team today than they were yesterday.

It may be necessary surgery, I'm not in a position to judge.

Fair enough and I was making a collective judgment about this board's sentiment. I am usually not condescending to any player, let alone a Bills ex-player. But clearly Diggs had over-stayed his welcome and it is now evident that many of us (me included) dont feel the tinge of sadness that they did with the other players this offseason.

  15. An observation - remember how this board reacted when we said bye to Morse and White. With a tinge of sadness and many wishes for a bright future.

And look how we feel when we saw Diggs bu** go out the door. Eager to put our boot on it.

Cant but contrast how they were as team mates and as individuals. We will always think fondly of players like Morse, White....

I don't think that's how it'll play out at all. Just like when he left the Vikings, he kept his head down & stayed quiet the whole time.

He doesn't take shots in the media, and all his teammates always speak highly of him. I think he sees the Texans as a better up & coming team and wants to win.

He wants to be the number 1 in targets and is an attention seeker. He won plenty in Buffalo but that didn't stop his antics.

Texans are a good and upcoming team and imo, he provides experience but won't be a needle mover for them

I really like Nico Collins from what I've seen.

It could go the other way - Diggs could "return to the feast" with a true #1 WR ahead of him taking off the heat

A tiger doesn't change his stripes. We will see but I wouldn't bet on Diggs suddenly becoming a team player.

My point was, roster building is easier when all your money isn’t going to a franchise QB.

We shall see, but I still take the Bills as a whole, and I respect what they are doing in Houston. The Diggs deal doesn’t move my needle much. I want to get younger, cheaper and on the proper trajectory.

I think this will end badly for the Texans when Diggs starts pouting after realizing he is #2 or #3 on their depth chart. He is going to be a distraction for their excellent young QB.

We will see how long Ryans puts up with his attitude. Imo, Ryans will be swifter than McDermott to impose discipline
