  1. Occam’s Razor.  Everybody’s trying to win.  Diggs putting up big numbers at beginning of season wasn’t accomplishing that.  We won more games spreading it around and running it more.  Im sure Diggs wasn’t thrilled being less of a focal point but the Bills were winning and salvaging the season.  Diggs isn’t as good when he’s not used as much and 30 year old WR’s do tend to drop off.

    Only disagreement is on that early WR pick. I think most on this board understand, and are even in favor, of a very heavy defensive draft given our needs on that side of the ball.

    I also agree with going Safety->DT->DE. Heck, I'd say Safety->DT->DE->Safety->DB->DT

    Yep. Draft a WR in the 1st round, then go defense the next 3 picks.

  3. I’m not restructuring Diggs.  I’m fine with him staying but if there’s a peep from him or any of his people this off-season or if he misses any voluntary workouts for anything other than a birth of a child or family emergency, I want him gone.

    I’m bringing Poyer back.  He’s not that expensive and showed he’s got something left.

    Knox takes a pay cut or is gone.  That contract was horrible the minute he signed it and has gotten worse.  He’d be lucky to get $5m per year right now if released and with Kincaid he’s probably worth less than $5m per year to the Bills.

    No way I’m releasing Morse or Bates. Keep the O Line intact.

    And I’m not restructuring Milano.  He’s 30 years old coming off a 2nd major injury.

    And I’m not paying Von a penny more than his guarantees that have already kicked in.  If he doesn’t take a $6m paycut on the money that becomes guaranteed this March, I cut him and split the dead cap over next 2 years.

  4. With Taron at 190lbs on the field for almost 100% of the defensive snaps next to 2 linebackers who are on the smaller side, we need more size at safety to replace Micah.  I’d bring Rapp back who was greatly improved by end of season and I’d also sign a guy like Jeremy Chinn who’s a bigger safety.  Then I’d bring in an upper tier 1 tech like DJ Reader.  Joseph was good for a couple weeks but had no tread left on the tires.  I’m also tired of light in the ass Defensive Ends.  They wear down by the end of the year.

  5. Mike Evans someway somehow

    QB Josh, whoever Josh wants;

    RB Cook, Ty Johnson, 7th rounder, cheap vet;

    FB cheap vet;

    TE Kincaid, Knox, Morris

    WR Evans, Shakir, 1st round WR, Shorter, cheap vet

    OL everybody back plus late draft pick

    DL Rousseau, Oliver, Reader, Von, Gross Matos, 2nd rounder, 4th rounder, vet depth, vet depth;

    LB Bernard, Milano, Williams, Spector, Dodson if he’s cheap;

    CB Douglass, Benford, Elam, 6th rounder;

    nickel Taron, Chinn;

    Safety Poyer, Chinn, 3rd rounder, Rapp if he’s cheap

    kicker Bass and 6th rounder

    punter 5th rounder

  6. we need to get bigger and more aggressive on D.  Mcdermott’s defenses get consistently get bullied in the playoffs.  Brady brought that change to the offense.  Now we need it on the defense.  I absolutely loved the physicality Dorian Williams played with on Sunday but he was one of the only ones.  Milano and Taron are great players.  Poyer and Hyde were great too, but all of them are undersized.  We have too many light in the ass players on the defensive side of the ball and it catches up to us in january.

    The Bills don’t have to do all of these moves.

    Restructure (savings)

    Allen - $23.1m

    Diggs - $13.1m

    Knox - $6.0m
    Oliver - $3.5m

    McGovern - $3.2m

    Milano - $2.4m

    Total - $51.3m

    Release

    White - $6.2m saved
    Poyer - $5.5m saved

    Morse - $5.4m saved
    Hines - $5.0m saved

    Harty - $4.1m saved

    Neal - $2.9m saved

    Bates - $1.4m saved

    Martin - $1.25m saved

    Total $31.75m

    Extension / Restructure

    Dawkins - 2 year - $7.1m

    Douglas - 2 year - $5.9m

    T. Johnson - 3 year - $4.8m

    Total - $17.8m

    Total savings: $100.85m

    All of those are easy decisions except a couple. I’m not tying myself to Diggs longer than his current contract.  I’d bring poyer back at reduced role and money.  Knox will take a paycut to stay here. I’m not making any cuts to the O Line. So $70m of that $100m is easy decisions.  Diggs and Miller potentially free up cap space in 2024 if you push dead money to 2025.  We are in drastically better shape heading into the off-season than it looked like 2 months ago.

  8. Not sure why this off-season will be tough. We went 6-1 down the stretch with a group where only Hyde, epenesa, floyd, and jones are free agents.  Young players stepped up all over the roster.  We are probably in better shape than every other contender who doesn’t have a QB on a rookie deal.

  9. we scored 24 points against one of the top defenses, controlled the clock, and our WR’s dropped 3 passes that wouldve have all went for at least 40 yards.  And our kicker missed a 44 yarder to tie it. And we went 6-0 to finish the season with a mash unit on defense before yesterdays loss.  If we don’t offer brady the OC position immediately, mcbeane needs their heads examined.

  10. Round 1 WR, Round 2 DE, Round 3 safety.  Sign Jeremy Chinn, DJ Reader and mid level Defensive end in free agency.  If Diggs or any of his people open their mouths this off-season, cut him and bring in Hopkins to replace him.  I think Miller has a Floyd 2023 season left in him.  rousseau, miller, oliver, reader, mid priced DE, round 2 draft pick DE, round 5 one tech on D line.  Linebacker is set.  CB is set.  Hyde, Chinn and round 3 draft pick at safety.  O Line is set. TE set.  RB set, QB set, Diggs/Shakir/Round 1 WR.
