It’s a great way to manipulate the cap but there’s no way Beane is re-signing Leonard Floyd. If he does he literally wasted $4.3 million.
My guess is Von Miller will get Floyd’s snaps and they will draft depth.
Not following that logic. It’s cap money, not real money. That $4.3m dead cap is less than 2% of $243m and it doesn’t matter where it came from at this point. Floyd clearly prefers the 1 year contract thing and if McBeane decides to bring him back the $4.3m dead cap will have no bearing on that decision.

As long as you don’t push too much into the future, it’s smart cap management that every team does. You get to push current liabilities at today’s prices onto future cap years that are growing 7-10% every year. It’s borrowing at 0% when you know your salary goes up every year.

Post June 1 trade seems unrealistic. Teams make their big moves before the draft. And I’m not sure how a 2025 draft pick helps the Bills very much. The options are to cut him before his 2024 salary becomes guaranteed on march 14th or keep him. I suppose a 3rd option is somebody gives Bills enough trade compensation that they eat the full $31m in dead cap this year, but can’t see that happening. Diggs seems like he’s being a good soldier so far this off-season so Id be inclined to keep him.

Can we plant some PED’s on Von?

There is so much dead weight on the 2024 cap and almost zero free agents that are ‘must sign’ guys. We won 6 games in a row and took KC to the wire with a patchwork D and paying Diggs and Knox like they’re top players at their position. I really hope McBeane takes the opportunity clear a whole lot of non-performing and under performing contracts off the books.

Whatever he had Bosa doing a majority of the game just chasing Pacheco across the field and giving Mahomes huge running lanes was idiotic. Might’ve worked in 1st half but backfired in the 2nd half effectively taking away bosa’s pass rush ability.

I think we need to move on from
Bass while we can without actually hurting us in games. That means drafting a kicker. Take the cap hit. Can’t go into The season with a terrible kicker with the yips. You’re only as good as your last season IMO
Completely agree with this. Kickers are so important in the playoffs. You cannot win a Super Bowl with a shaky kicker. The margin is so close in these playoff games and most of the good teams have kickers who are automatic out to 55 yards.

They didn’t tell you about your pay cut? I’m sorry, HR was supposed to be in touch.
Let’s draft our own superstars. They are cheaper that way.
Let’s do both and make Chiefs weaker in the process.

I thought that the Bills are over the cap RIGHT NOW. Do they have $$$ to go after big name/expensive players?
we gotta stop kicking the can for guys that aren’t difference makers especially on defense. I’m cutting any guy on defense except Oliver to sign Jones.

This is why the Bills gotta consider going after Chris Jones. Gotta make Chiefs weaker to beat them. And if nothing else you make him more expensive for Chiefs to sign. Jones ain’t going to a non-contender. He’ll never get his due in KC. It’s all Mahomes Kelce and the coaching. He comes to Buffalo and we win super bowl, he’ll be in reggie White territory.

I’d rather spend money on a shaky kicker, scrub special teams only guys and undersized aging defenders who get pushed around come January.

Disagree. KC may have gone for it on the 4th and goal had it been 17-13
Talking about this drive.

Mcduffie is such a good CB. Depressing that KC jumped us to get him.

Today in his interview with Kay Adams:
“That’s still family,” Diggs said. “At the end of the day, people kind of form their own opinion in regards to football. Josh extended his hand out to me when I got (traded) to the Bills. He welcomed me with open arms, open hands,” Diggs said. “That’s still my brother, I kind of get sentimental about it because he’'s still family at the end of the day. He’s always going to be family no matter how it shakes out.”
Sounds like he knows he’s gone. Trying to leave on good terms.

It also neglects any salary cap implications.
It's silly season, prepare for 6 weeks of wild speculation that comes to naught.
Honestly if we could sign Mike Evans, I’d cut Diggs. Designate him as a post June 1 cut. Draft a WR in first 2 rounds and roll with Evans, Shakir, and rookie as your top 3. Evans would be an upgrade to Diggs on the field and would come with a lot less drama.

saw this on twitter this morning & almost had a heart attack. Was curious how'd you all feel if this did happen
i dont hate the idea personally & the trade partner surely makes sense given the history. Ideally i'd like things to work with Diggs here. But a trade like this would be bold & likely one of the only ways we can get out of the contract, without really hurting ourselves in the process
I’d do that trade in a heartbeat, but not sure Carolina is desperate enough for a WR to trade Burns straight up for Diggs. Seems like wishful thinking.

I don’t think any team is giving up a first rounder for an expensive 30 year old WR coming off a down year. If there’s such a team gullible enough to make that sort of deal, Beane would jump at it IMO.
Yep. Maybe Carolina is desperate enough to salvage Bryce Young. They’re not getting any decent free agent to go there without over/bidding everybody by 50% and they don’t have a 1st round pick. Maybe you’d get a 3rd rounder from them or a 2nd round trade up. Can’t see anybody else desperate enough.

I don’t have a problem with Diggs, but I think it’s time for both sides to move on.

Cool, let’s run it back then. Insanity now.
I think mcdermott showed the last 2 months he’s capable of evolving. But let’s see what he does this off-season. The Epenesa’s and light in the ass Defensive Ends are useless come playoff football. Hyde’s replacement needs to be a physical safety. I’d like to see a 1 tech upgrade to a guy like Reader. I like Douglas, Benford, Taron, and Poyer. Bernard and Milano are playmakers but undersized. Oliver is good but undersized too. All the defensive additions the off-season need to be stout, violent dudes. The defense needs to get bigger and more physical.

Salary cap question, Leonard Floyd’s dead cap

as long as cap keeps going up 8-10% every year and it looks like it will the next 10 years, there’s almost no downside pushing forward 5-10% of your cap charges every year especially when Josh Allen is your QB for the foreseeable future.
