I guess I should add that another reason they will bring him back next year is because of the big contract they gave him this off season. I don't know the exact numbers without looking at his contract, but I believe he would count like 7 million+ in dead cap if we cut him. His contract, coupled with the Knox and Miller contracts, aren't the most team friendly right now. Just no way to get out of them for a couple of years at least.
Cap hit doesn’t matter when you have kicker you can’t trust. He is either gone or will have competition brought in on a regular basis.

I think anyone who second guesses that just second guesses a lot of stuff.
Life isn't in slow mo - JA made a decision to try to win the game there, and the play was open.
Agreed. In an ideal world he checks down twice, gets the 1st down, the chiefs burn their 2 timeouts and we score a td or kick a field goal with no time left. Hard to fault him for taking that shot to shakir. It was open and you can’t get cute down 3 with a shaky kicker.

ain’t that a kick in the bass

all too prescient. now please burn this thread. Bass is done as kicker here. Kickers are too easy to replace now. Understandable mcbeane didn’t wanna do it the last 2 months, but he can’t be brought back.

You can’t go for 4th and 5 from your own 30 with 8 minutes left down 3. Fake punt only real option if you don’t wanna give ball back to mahomes. Hated the result but liked that mcdermott showed some onions there.

yep. Loved him. Always got extra yards and past the sticks. A great #2 RB.

I was anti mcdermott but have changed my tune. He grew a lot as a coach the last 2 months. We fought our asses off tonight.

I felt way worse after 13 seconds and cincy. KC was better than us and we fought and somehow had ball with chance to win it. With the right changes, future is bright.

What else can we do?
We have, at least, an informal family here in Buffalo. I feel pain right now - but I know there are thousands of people right there w/ me.
Allen is still young, we'll always have a window while he's playing. There is a rich history in sports of great players who kept hitting a wall year after year, until they broke through.
Just keep hoping. And stay away from the media. I made the mistake of checking Nick Wright's initial reaction - what a wonderful example of a sore winner. But it will be a brutal week w/ the ending being a wide right kick. Just steer clear. Life is still good. We still have Josh Allen.
Agree. We have a top 3 QB, a good OLine, good running game, Kincaid is great jan be a star, Shakir is really good. get some new WR’s, get a little younger and meaner on defense

can’t have a kicker you’re holding your breath on every kick. NFL kickers are almost automatic now. Bass has been a bottom quartile kicker the whole year.

these nfc QB’s can’t hold a candle to lamar, josh or Mahomes.

that ref on lions sideline is having a bad day. not sure he’s gotten a spot right.

Not sending pressure against goff is example of out-thinking yourself as a coach.

the devin singletary experience. decent back, but will always leave you wanting something better

Rushing 4 and not having spy on lamar giving ravens passing game way too much respect.

Kicker bailed out his coach not using timeout on the delay of game.

I put Gabe in the Knox bucket. Good team players but can’t depend on him to catch the ball. Can only throw to him if he’s wide open and can body catch it. Same with Cook and drops. 90% of our throws need to be to Diggs, Kincaid and Shakir from here on out except for dump-offs.

Murray has no tread left on the tire. Glad we have Ty Johnson.

He’s definitely in the preservation phase of his career. Fitzpatrick arm tackled him around the waist and Diggs goes down like he took a head shot from ray lewis. I also didn’t care for the gatorade BS on steelers sideline. As long as he gets open and catches the ball, it’s fine. He’s still a good player, but I could do without the antics and pretending to be hurt every time he gets touched.
-
No way Knox gets a game ball. His drop killed an important drive that could’ve got momentum back on our side.
Elam’s pick was huge. He deserves game ball for that.

Yes. Not sure how mcdermott has any confidence in him

They play a huge role in close games but you can avoid it by kicking the crap out of the other team like the Packers did today.
Agreed. In a close game, you are at the mercy of the refs.

the holding call on hutchinson and the non-call on Nukua was the game. And people say refs don’t determine the outcome.

that’s why you don’t punt inside the 50 with 1 timeout.

Sorry to say... But Diggs is done.

He’s not done as a player but he’s done as a diva. The offense isn’t a hostage to making him happy anymore and that is a huge positive heading into next season.
