I'm predicting Peters will be signed before draft
BuffaloRebound replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If I were an offensive lineman, Buffalo would actually be one of the places I'd want to play at. Endorsements and publicity are irrelevant as an OL, and making $10m per year in Buffalo is a lot easier than $10m per year in a place like Philly where the fans are brutal and the media worse. For a dude like Peters that seems to avoid the media, I'd think all else equal, he'd want to stay in Buffalo. After the draft, his position is weakened as much as the Bills unless the guy is willing to flush his career down the drain. -
Who's your 2009 "Whitner Pick" at #11
BuffaloRebound replied to Kingfish's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Laurinaitis -
Losman never had the mental makeup to be an NFL QB. It was obvious when he looked like a pop warner QB at the end of the New England game his rookie year. It is dis-concerting that the guy responsible for college scouting who made huge misses on headcases like Mike Williams and Losman is still in charge.

The Bills need to find a way to get through to Peters and keep him. Then trade for a veteran Tight End. This allows the Bills to take Freeman at #11. Edwards still starts and gets a chance to take the next step but Freeman is waiting in the wings. Then take a pass rusher in the 2nd round like Michael Johnson or if need be package it with their 3rd to move up if pass rushers are flying off the board. I know there are needs like OLB and OG/C, but without improved pass rush and QB play, this franchise will continue spinning its wheels.

I am secretly hoping we take Freeman at #11.

Per PFT: Bills Shopping Parrish
BuffaloRebound replied to TheBuffaloBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Roscoe does not have enough power to offset his size on offense. Welker is much more powerful than Roscoe. Roscoe needs the space that 10 guys plus a punter running full speed for 50 yards creates to take advantage of his elite quickness and change of direction skills. -

Returning punts is a lot less taxing than returning kicks. Letting McKelvin return punts should not affect his ability to play defense. Kick returns are a different story, whether Roscoe is traded or not. -

If they trade Roscoe for anything less than a 2nd round pick, I agree with you. But if he can net the Bills a starting OL, TE, LB, or DL, he is a luxury when the Bills have many other needs. -
The worst mock draft that I've seen yet
BuffaloRebound replied to firstngoal's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If the Bills take a WR, CB, or RB in the 1st round, all hope is lost. Even if the Bills think Crabtree is a top 5 talent, I'd hope they trade down in that scenario. I'd much rather see the Bills take one of the QB's than Crabtree. -

Roscoe and a late round pick to KC for Waters? If Peters is traded, the Bills can't start 2 rookies on the OL and expect the QB to remain upright. -
trading peters/shoring the trenches
BuffaloRebound replied to tennesseeboy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why? It seems like Andre Smith is being compared talent-wise to Peters. Philadelphia would probably have to trade up to #6 or #7 to get him. Assuming they can find a willing trade partner, the trade value chart suggests that would cost them at least their two 1st rounders. The contract for a #6 or #7 pick isn't too far behind what they'd have to pay Peters. I bet St. Louis and Seattle would trade their #2 and #4 pick for Peters instead of paying the same price for guys who may or may not be Pro Bowl LT's. I think the Bills should ask for Philly's 2 1st rounders and then maybe settle for a 1st and 2nd. -
Top 5 Players Bills Likely to Draft
BuffaloRebound replied to BillsNYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That thinking led to taking Whitner when we could have had Cutler. I'v never seen Freeman play, but if the guy is a Roethlisberger type QB (who would be the ideal QB for Buffalo), I don't think Edwards has shown enough promise to pass that up. It's better than reaching and giving up multiple picks on a Losman next year when the Bills decide Edwards isn't the answer. That said, it will never happen because Jauron has to win this year. -

What about Freeman? If the guy is that good, wouldn't a big QB with a big arm be perfect for the Bills? -
Your plan to get Cutler and fill holes?
BuffaloRebound replied to BillsFanForever19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The only way I could see the Bills trade for Cutler is if Denver has an interest in Edwards. I'd give up Edwards and next year's #1 pick for Cutler. Then the Bills are in the same position this year dealing with Peters, finding a pass rusher, TE, and OG and have all their picks. -
Bills contact LT Peters to discuss new deal
BuffaloRebound replied to BillsWatch's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Doesn't Jauron usually have a 'no comment on contractual matters' stance? Unfortunately, this makes me feel like it is much more likely Peters gets traded. -
Mark Sanchez is screwed
BuffaloRebound replied to Tim Anderson's Lunch Pail's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That video reminded me of Joey 'Sunshine' Harrington than anything else. Sanchez looks too happy/giddy for my liking. Your QB's gotta be tough and get the respect of the locker room. Hanging out with Rob Johnson doesn't help either. Hopefully they are not hanging out in the hot tub together. -
Pete Prisco says Bill's biggest need is TE
BuffaloRebound replied to In-A-Gadda-Levitre's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
"Guards Brad Butler and Brandon Rodd are decent. Depth is lacking and they could use some help behind the five starters." Who the F is Brandon Rodd? This dis-credits everything else in the article. -
The Bills desperately need a pass rusher, but I wouldn't mind Maualuga if the Bills think Maybin is too high risk. Cushing seems like he'll be a good player, but not a difference maker. Bills are in desperate need of difference makers in the front 7.
-
Not saying Maybin is that guy, but the #11 pick is a great place to take a chance on a player with elite talent. The salary structure at the top of the draft prevents teams from taking a chance on players with the most upside. The #11 pick isn't an exorbitant contract.

IF we have traded for Sheffler
BuffaloRebound replied to BeastMode54's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Peters is traded, then someone is gonna have to get paid on the left side of the OL. I'd rather pay Peters premium money than a LG like Waters, plus Waters means a draft pick on top. You can't have a rookie next to an average player on the left side and expect our QB's to remain upright. Pay Peters, draft a pass rusher in round #1, get a starting LG in the 2nd round, and sign one of these free agent LB's. -
Any more Free Agents ready to join Bills yet ??
BuffaloRebound replied to Chuckknox's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
T.O. or not, Brady is going to put up 40+ points against that pathetic pass rush. The worst part about it is the Bills spend top dollar on their defensive ends and get nothing for it. Now that they got a legit playmaker on offense, the Bills must get a pass rusher on defense. I really hope there is a plan to address this. I don't see how Brandon can cut dead weight like Dockery and Royal, and be fine paying Kelsay and Schobel like premier defensive ends. Schobel probably gets another year due to his injury, but no pass rush means no playoffs and you can't rely on a rookie no matter how high you draft him to significantly improve the pass rush.
