Critical Race Theory
SectionC3 replied to Trump_is_Mentally_fit's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
No, I believe we have cameras on cops to prevent police brutality and to insulate police from unfounded claims of brutality. Teachers don’t regularly have physical interactions with the populous. Police do. It’s sort of absurd that this even has to be a conversation. Like cops? Give them cameras. Protect them. Think Ken Achtyl is a d-bag (I do; Google him. He wouldn’t have been caught without a body cam)? Put a camera on him, too. It’s a win for everyone. -
Critical Race Theory
SectionC3 replied to Trump_is_Mentally_fit's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Not really. I haven’t heard of teachers shooting anyone in the back recently. Also, the cameras are *gasp* better for police because it insulates from misconduct/brutality/etc. claims. Also helps with suppression issues. In this day and age, there’s no good reason not to have them on cops. Cool story. Maybe they can home school. Otherwise, by participating in the public education system, they delegate that responsibility through an indirect electoral process. -
"Legitimate political discourse"

Hoax. Sad that you don’t back the blue. I do. You should, too. -
https://int.nyt.com/data/documenttools/rnc-censure-resolution/58226d40412e4f18/full.pdf I didn't realize that beating police officers, trespassing, engaging in rebellion, and comforting those who do all of those things are planks in the Republican Party platform. Sick. And so are the people who refuse to condemn this nonsense.

What’s your definition of freedom? Lack if any restraint (eg stoplights, masks in public places during a pandemic)? Or can you accept that freedom involves some restraints for the betterment of the group?
-
It’s not partisan. Nobody said that. It just has different contours to different people.
-
How precisely does one view freedom? A fair question posed by Gunner Bill. Is it extreme libertarianism, along the lines of "nobody can make me wear a mask in Target?" Or is it something else? Maybe Buffalo Timmy and those of his political orientation can chew on this. It's good food for thought and it echoes what Gunner Bill is getting at: "Real liberty for all could not exist under the operation of a principle which recognizes the right of each individual person to use his own, whether in respect of his person or his property, regardless of the injury that may be done to others."

1. Find pass rusher who can finish. 2. Improve team speed at WR/CB. 3. Improve yearlong focus. The cluster against the Jags explains why the KC game was there instead of here. We can't stumble like that next year.

Both things are true. The loss has more than one cause. -
How bad is it for Lesile Frazier?

There’s only 32 of those jobs. -

Could be. But it’s hard to imagine someone who wants to be a HC turning down such a job at his age. -

And they didn’t bring him back this time. It’s bizarre. (Unless there’s something that we don’t know about Frazier that happened in the interim, but that seems unlikely.) -
If we let Russia run over Ukraine, then then Chinese get eyes on Taiwan. Global geopolitics at work. I'm not saying that we get involved in a ground war in Ukraine--I don't think that's a good idea--but I'm all for making this really, really painful for Russia should Russia move on Ukraine. And, we should beef up our presence in Poland and the Baltics. Don't want NATO in Ukraine? Fine. But invade Ukraine and you get an awful lot more NATO in other nearby places.

*Approved* Information only and Spotify fallout

That's capitalism for you. Spotify chooses the amount of BS it will broadcast based on the tolerance of its customers for such things. Don't like it? Cancel your Spotify account. -

Probably just posturing. He’s in line for an extension, right? Maybe talks aren’t going as well as he would have hoped. So he threatens to go back to the A’s and relearn how to play second base or centerfield or whatever. Have at it. -
I feel like he gets a little sloppy when he gets knocked around a bit. I caught only bits and pieces of this year's AFCCG, but I wonder if Cinci hit him a few times more than we did. It's part of the reason that I keep coming back to the point that we need to find a pass rusher who can get home. We didn't have one this year, and it hurt.

Crowder always feels like a handful when we play him.

Interesting. Wonder if this makes Morse more likely to stick and increases the odds that Williams and/or feliciano are cap casualties. -
Texans getting closer to hiring Josh McCown as Head Coach
SectionC3 replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall
I thought he was a volunteer coach at the high school of one of his kids. Just the same as coaching the dolphins to a winning record, right? I kid, of course. I don’t think the idea of hiring someone “fresh” is all that crazy. Maybe not a great idea, but not completely, impossibly nuts. (Look at the NBA.). But to do it now would throw a reservoir of gasoline on the Flores fire. -
Yup. This is the game. Playoffs on the line and he punted in OT. IIRC, had the Colts picked up another first down, we were looking at a tie in the best case scenario. Which was as good as a loss w/r/t our playoff chances. I was dumbfounded by that call. Still am. A Jauron-ish example of playing not to lose.

Fun fact: the office linebacker has a voiceover role in a movie that recently premiered on Paramount Plus.

I dont know this for fact, and it’s distant info, but tierney may have physically left for NJ with daboll. So this would have been done last week.

I agree with you to the extent you believe that McD is NOT in over his head. His record speaks for itself. It is excellent, and he turned this franchise into a powerhouse. But could McD have a credibility problem in the organization moving forward if we have another meltdown like we did in KC? The jury’s out on that one. He comes off as this hyper-prepared, exacting person, which is great and nothing but respectable. At the same time, the team was not prepared to play Pittsburgh and arguably Indianapolis this year, inexcusably lost a game in Jacksonville, let a game get away in Tennessee, and blundered away a road playoff win in another inexcusable way. I think he’s a really, really good coach, but it’s fair to say that he’s got a lot to clean up next year. And, given his handling of McKenzie this year (perfectly appropriate to take him off of PR duties, in my view, and probably overdue), he’s got to do something about the blunders at the end of the KC game. Which, of course, is much harder if he called the D because he can’t fire himself for that. But, realistically speaking, if he’s going to discipline McKenzie for poor play, someone has to take a hit for poor coaching (looking at you, Heath Farwell). Read Joe Buscaglia’s recent article in The Athletic. The evidence is there. Either Farwell didn’t communicate it to Bass, or Bass just messed up. I can. OT punt in Indy snow game. We were really, really lucky to win that game.
