SBIV Chiefs vs. Vikings. What made it so memorable is that it was the last game played between the NFL and AFL. The merger began 3 years eariler and the pompas ass NFLers' lambasted the 'minor' league as Vince's boys won the first 2. The Jets incredible upset the previous year was passed off with disdain by these same 'experts' as a true fluke. But Len Dawson & Co. (who beat the Bills to get to but lose the 1st SB) were back and would not be denied against 'Injun' Joe Kapp and the vaunted Vikings. 3 Stenerud FG's and the '35 toss power trap' made for an insurmountable lead and the 'death' of the AFL stood forever TIED with the great NFL! GO AFL!!

Sadly, you're right. Only if a player not on the original list actually goes to Honolulu does he get league attention. I lost acouple bets on that last year when Bills D-guys were on alternate lists but didn't go.. ATTA -BOY, Nate!!

I agree that bolstering the OL is prime concern and Aiken has shown some flashes of brilliance, but I'm not sold on him... It's rare when a WR takes a lot of time to develope. Typically, either they 'got it' or they don't.. JP will need better assurance from the #3 spot, IMO.

We were chatting about this yeasterday. IMO, the key play in that game came on our drive right after Bruce sacked Hoss for a safety. We got great field position and faced a third and 3 at the Giant 35. Kelly hit Reed in stride for the first but Reed dropped it. (He was getting hammered all game long) We had to punt and lost the mo. Reed catches this pass, we're in FG range and have the gints reeling. I'll never forget this...

I think most of us carry this bagage. I'm old enough to remember our 60's AFL championships, but that was an eon ago. This may help: The Eagles are going to only their second bowl 0-1 The Panthers only once 0-1 The Falcons only once 0-1 The Chargers only once 0-1 The Titans/Oilers only once 0-1 The Bengals 0-2 The Vikings are also 0-4 The Saints The Texans The Browns The Cardinals The Seahawks The Jaguars The Lions -all have never gone!! It is worse in other areas including some teams who left their cities.. Buck up, soldier!

Historically, ABC's format was teams with a winning record the previous year- with a rare 8-8 club featured. We pass this test plus we are likely to get a lot of preseason hype as a late up & comer from last year. We will likely play an AFC East team and may make a couple Sunday nighters as well.. ABC is also toying with having 2 MNF games going at the same time to offset the typical blowouts..
