  1. There is a reason why they call it scalping which was considered one of the worst non-sexual war acts in the 19th century. Those who do it, especially those who claim to support the sport (like a head coach) or a team (like a team's fans), are morally corrupt. I know a season ticket holder from Buffalo who buys 100 of the 'hot' games when they become available to season ticket holders and sells them to a scalper who is selling them to opposing fans. The season ticket holder KNOWS who the scalper is selling the tickets but justifies it as a way to pay for his season tickets. I was talking to him about going to a game and he told he had tickets and his connection was able to get him tickets for other games 'at cost' as compensation for participating in this business. He said if I bought season tickets he could arrange that the scalper would pay for my tickets - great way to pay for season tickets he said. I told him that I wasn't interested in going to a game with him and he was the type of person who filled the Bills home games with opposing fans. He said it was 'only 100' tickets and failed to understand how he was contributing to this.
  2. Frank did not leave for more money. He was selected by Carolina in the expansion draft by Carolina. Please do not put Frank Reich in same category as some of the current money-grabbing atheletes. Beebe, Reich and Metzelaars all stated they would rather remain in Buffalo even if they got more money.
  3. Happy Birthday Rich. I hope you and Lisa have a good time
  4. Thank you Gina. Usual top job. Right now there is no player I want to see on my desktop.
  5. A great deal of those tickets were bought by Bills season ticket holders who resold them to Pittsburgh ticket scalpers (many justify it as way of paying for their season tickets) as well as large numbers bought during group sales. There is a long, long waiting list to get season tickets in Pittsburgh and this game was one of the closest for a Pittsburgh fan to go to.
  6. Mid-December. My cape got stuck in it. California - the left coast Not precisely back. Got a mail message saying I had a PM. Will be disappearing soon again.
  7. Not true that there are zero tickets. Bills still may have tickets if any are returned by Pittsburgh; I believe 500 are reserved for visitors. They will typically release them on Wednesday.
  8. Yep I am picky but not a bastard for I know my father although I do not associate with him. I am even picky in choice in friends which is why you should feel fortunate.
  9. Maybe those who did not take them: 1. did not know they were for the people who bought tickets as part of the group, 2. was going to car directly and could not bring them in 3. thought they would be available afterwards 4. thought they were cheap 5. Noticed they had red end zones even though field has changed
  10. I had some but I screwed up when I uploaded them to my laptop. Only one I had left was one of SDS and a promo girl. P.S. they should be posted on TBD East board otherwise they will be buried.
  11. Happy Birthday Kelly. Nice to meet you and your family. P.S. You got a strong grip
  12. No need for Ticket girls at all IMO. They seemed to think their job was to wander around parking lot away from lot and flirt with guys. Most of the people there know about the raffle and all we need is a bullhorn to announce it. I liked the wall but once people started signing people who were not there it immediately became a non-entity. Please continue bringing gaterade and water (I generally do not drink before noon) but maybe we could get it is a large container and just fill glasses? Likewise we need to get more recycling bins. Remaining gatorade / water should be used for other game tailgates during year but I am not usually there. I agree about loudspeaker. I was in tent (needed shade) and could not hear them. Need to get group shots earlier. Thanks to Diane (aussiew) for name badges.
  13. Good tailgate, good weather and even a good game; not as good as the blowout of NE last year but still a good game. I also had a chance to see Eric Dickerson; he was waiting shortly ahead of me in security lines going to planes. I recognized him and confirmed it was him when I saw his Atlanta Falcons bag. Thank you to those who organized it especially Cindy, Jay and Jack, thank you to those who contributed prizes for the raffles (I did not have anything to contribute but I spent a lot on tickets and didn't win anything), and those who brought food especially Pat, Steve, Central NJ crew and Sid. My madien flight on Indenpedence Air did not go very well on trip back; fog in Buffalo and Dulles delayed return but I got back in one piece. I have more to say but I will leave it for another post.
  14. Soory. I though they were *your* pictures
  15. Congrats. I have been married 32 years and I know how difficult it is [ NOTE: To those who do not know me very well that is 16 years for first marriage in Hong Kong to my wife and 16 years for the 2nd marriage to my wife in Blasdell 1 week later ] Leave some guiness for me at Buffalo Brew Pub in case I get there! Ribs? Did someone say Steve's 'Ribmaster' Ribs? Danny's in Orchard Park very close to Hammer's Lot (staggering distance) It is on map: http://members.cox.net/billswatch/Hammer/index.html Pictures from last year (from our favorite Blue Coat): http://community.webshots.com/album/89546006uNtxif?318
  16. Damn if I knew Steve was going to be there I'd have taken Friday off and come up early!
  17. If you were thinking of going and did not want to drive USAir has a last minute weekend only deal. http://www.usairways.com/pro/esavers/weekly_11sep.htm Leaving Boston Saturday and returning Monday (Sunday's flight is too early) at 10:25A, 1:40P or 5:35P flights or Tuesday Itinerary Total - US$ 155.20 ($138 + taxes)
  18. List of Hotel and distance from Ralph: http://members.cox.net/billswatch/buffalo/hotels.html A couple of notes from the wall on it I have heard good things about Hampton Inn on Ridge Road http://members.cox.net/billswatch/buffalo/hamptoninn.gif
  19. BillsZone is just a different place; TBD has plenty of kids and punks as well!
  20. I get Molson XXX. Molson XXX has more alcohol (and taste) than regular beer and it is not sold in US. Different rules in amount of alcohol in beer. I am not a big drinker anymore and I do not like to get up during game to use bathrooms so this way I get my alcohol in less beers. I also need to get to airport early morning and fly to a new job so I can not be as unrestricted as I am other years.
  21. I volunteered to be dunked in dunk tank! It was MY idea! I raised $500 in college being the dunkee in the tank; people just LOVED to dunk me - they said it was something about the way I put insults ... But Hammer has said it is impractical. Things are different in real world where you need to pay for insurance and other things. If I was local I'd rent a truck and set up the tank on the truck back but I am not and I doubt I'll be local until I am old and gray!
  22. Point out to Harriet that a "Strip-a-thon" could be used to raise money for the wall.
  23. See post on TBD East. Not a possibility. I need a "blue moon" smilie.
  24. And being from NJ you do not mind the smell from dunking him in porty potty!
