  1. ESPN did later concede though that the silver lining was they were able to ram Boston/New England's collective d*ck a little further down their throat.
  2. I love Carlin. My buddies all saw him last year while I was out of town :I starred in Brokeback Mountain: and I really regret not having made it happen myself. Comic genius and legend in his own time.
  3. While I tend to agree with you about Favre (I believe Sterling Sharpe is probably the only marquee WR Brett ever got to throw to), the same thing could be said about the crazy passing system that Holt plays in. I think both QBs and WRs stats are inflated in STL. I would love to see how Holt would do with another team. Or what if you stuck Walker in the rams system? I do give the nod to Holt though.
  4. So far Im surprised Clements22 is the only one who has brought up ERIC Fuggin GAGNE!! Beltre led them to the playoffs by himself did he? And Bonds had much more help?? I think the benefit of the best closer in the NL (maybe MLB) might have helped the Dodgers pull out a few games. So if MVP means best player: Bonds' numbers were superior to Beltres IF MVP means most valuable player to your team: BF if you are saying Beltre single-handedly pulled LA into the playoffs without the help of a future hall of fame closer AND that Bonds had a better team and more help......you are lying to yourself and everyone else.
  5. I disagree with this to a point because there are many, many kids who grow up being raised by their grandparents. I had a few friends in school that were brought up by their grandparents (usually grandmother) because their real parents were not around for some reason or another. A lot of people cite their grandmother as being their biggest and best influence growing up. Now obviously there are more health risks to a 70 year old but I would be more willing to judge her based on her parenting than her age.
  6. First they lose Wanny and now GM Rick Spielman is on "shaky ground." Well all good things come to an end I guess.... http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=1920966
  7. I too miss the Miami series. I can say that I probably hate Miami more than any other school (well maybe a tie with BC... :I starred in Brokeback Mountain: BC) because I grew up watching that series. There have been some amazing games between us. I will say that this may not happen since ND is looking to soften their schedule. Big conference teams can talk all they want but it is no joke to play teams that at one time in the season were ranked: #7- Michigan #9- Tennessee #5- Purdue #21- BC #1- Southern Cal Plus I believe both Pitt and Navy were damn close to being ranked (26-30) and I thought one of them might have cracked the top 25. I DO look forward to getting Penn State back though in 2 years. I miss that rivalry as well. peace
  8. Mustang....welcome to the Bend. You picked a great one to come out to since the last home game of the year is always pretty crazy and we are coming off a sweet win. For before the game, I would suggest tailgating at the parking lots closest to the stadium. Look for a building in the middle of the parking lot, its a bar called Legends. You can hang out in there for awhile and get some brews before the game or just walk around the lot: there is a lot of action around there. We are trying to throw together a tailgate in the student lot (by the radio tower) but that is pretty far away. After the game, yeah the linebacker is probably the place to go. Alumni love it and it becomes the most popular bar after home games. Its pretty grimy but a great time. Other bars: Boat Club, Finnigans, Corby's...a few more. Hope you enjoy your time. I am a senior and this is my last home game and it is really sad to realize that I won't have "season tickets" next year. Although we haven't had the kind of success ND is accustomed to, I wouldn't trade anything for the 20+ games I have seen in that stadium. Let me know if you need anything else. GO IRISH!!! Bart BTW - I didnt think of it because it is not all that appealing as a student, but I agree with what the others said about walking around the campus. Its a very awe-inspiring place if you have never been here (at least I thought I was when I first got here). And definitely check out the bookstore....its like the Nordstroms of bookstores. It has everything ND you could dream of.....if you dont mind payin about a 400% markup
  9. Let's see if he makes fun of his name. I'd love to see Fletcher come across the table and pop Rome
  10. 5-11?? You really think we will do WORSE the secong half of the season?
  11. I think Clinton Portis would say that to God himself. Cocky little pr*ck. Keep doin your thing Willis.
  12. Oh so someone posts about homework and chicken wings and you all wet yourself. I give you gold and get nothing? Ill be in the car....
  13. You may never see a better punt than the one he hit that bounced at the 1 foot line with all that wind. That kick gave us 2 points. If McGahee wasn't looking so sweet, I'd be real tempted to order that #8 jersey....
  14. It was on in Indiana. Finally a fuggin break from Colts/Lions/Bear, Colts/Lions/Bear, Colts/Lions/Bear, Colts/Lions/Bear, Colts/Lions/Bear,......
  15. I've seen his stats (leads team in tackles, 2 INTs) but I was wondering if anyone has seen him in any extended action? I always preferred him to Clements but it was obvious that he was not worth the jack Minny paid him. Anyone?
  16. I like you assessment. I think our hope for the Steelers game is that the way they are playing, they could already have locked up home-field (we could help this cause by beating the Pats). If they have their bye and want to rest their players, who know what could happen.
  17. There has been a lot of speculation that maybe the whipping boy (Drew) wasn't really the problem. Maybe it was Travis that wasn't getting the job done. Before anyone singles out these two players, couldn't there be a slight chance that it was the coaching? Look, it seems we all expected MM and crew to hit the ground running. BUT didn't everyone say before the season that: A.) this is a playoff team if Mularkey can get his sh*t in gear from day 1 B.) This year could be a struggle if Mularkey has growing pains. I think Willis has added a spark and I think Drew is playing better. But I also think the o-line is playing better, the d-line is playing better and the coaching has generally improved. The uses of Bannan on OL, very creative and pretty effective. Putting Evans in the starting lineup and giving him a larger role. Honestly guys, I just think we got choice B. It took MM some time to get his sh*t together and it took some time for our players to gel and adjust to his system. I mean hell, half of them must have almost died from shock the first time we RAN IT on a 3rd and short in practice ...( :I starred in Brokeback Mountain: Gilbride). I dont know if Drew is the answer or the anti-christ he is made out to be. I don't truly know if McGahee is the only reason we are winning. But I do notice that ON THE WHOLE, this team is playing much better and is learning how to win. I think that is a testament of the progression of a new coach. peace
  18. My favorite was when he was "shocked" that the Bills ran for it on 3rd and 11. Oops then he realizes its 3rd and 7....oh wait OOOPS! Actually its 3rd and 1. Ohhhhhhhhhhhh. Now the run makes sense. Dumbsh*t
  19. Great news that it wasnt serious. I loved the thumbs up right before they loaded him into the ambulance. My first thought though was how are they gonna lift him onto that gurney? Hope he can be back soon!
  20. I dont know how many of you watch Notre Dame but I think the difference is exactly like those between Ryan Grant & Darius Walker. Grant /Henry: picks a spot and hits it. He runs as hard as he can and if there is a hole there, great....if not . When he gets a full head of steam he can run people over but he also runs himself down. Walker/McGahee: much better vision. patient and selective but CONSTANTLY moving. There is no stopping an looking for another whole. They both run the designed play but if something looks better, they take it. This vision allow for the big gains because they arent just banging their head into a wall and hoping it will fall down. They are being creative and exploiting weaknesses they see. I will add though that they are both great backs. I wish TH luck whatever happens to him.
  21. YOu know I'd like to chalk that one up to the "New England Rules" as well but I just see a sickening trend of unnecessary PF calls on the QB. They are not made of glass!! They wear helmets and pads too. Too much cheap sh*t is let got (eg. Abrahams little tantrum today) and they treat the QBs like Gods.
  22. What a $%&$%&*#$%&*#$ING shot! I too felt the same thing but Jordan wasn't celebrating or smiling on the sideline so I gave him a pass. Nothing like Warren Sapp :I starred in Brokeback Mountain:
