Yes he will mostly play 4-3 DE. Definitely on passing downs, that is if he sees the field.

With the 10th pick of the 2012 NFL draft, Buffalo picks...
1B4IDie replied to TPS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In a month I'm going to start a thread entitled "Come to terms with the fact that the #10 pick will be on offense" There isn't a defensive prospect that comes anywhere close to the OT and WR talent that will be available at #10 not to mention that any of the DE\LB prospects are not much if any better than the DE\LB prospects that will be available at #42. Its going to be OT\WR at #10 Then likely DE at #42 Just get over the "Front 7 at #10" ideas now. -
FYI St. Louis drafted Fitzy . . .
-
Or everyone wears the same pads, helmets, cleats, pants, (in their size of ofcourse) etc to eliminate variables and show closer to real world performance.
-
Why not trade up for Luck? Has everyone forgotten about Luck now that RGIII ran really fast in track shoes and an unitard? If they are going to do this why wouldn't they do this in 2011 when they had the #3 overall and only needed to move up two slots to get the Arguably better prospect in Cam Newton?
-
right, Just think of all the Cool Under Armor designs.

I don't remember the last time I saw a WR streak down the field in a unitard during an NFL game. Wouldn't it make more sense if at the combine & helmets (Thanks Offsides Number 76) thats the players had pads on during the drills? Great you run a 4.31 with sprinting shoes on and not much more, but can you carry the weight? It'd be much more interesting to see the Delta between a 40 with pads and without pads. Just an idea after reading this article: http://www.buffalonews.com/sports/bills-nfl/article742376.ece

I stated before the combine it is likely that he could be Undrafted. He cost his team wins. It doesn't get much worse than that. He single handedly blew the Stanford game. Now with this combine showing he doesn't even have the "Freak athletic" component that his advocates were promotting. He is slow, he is un-athletic, he makes poor decision that costs game, why would an NFL team take him in the draft? Let alone 2nd round? Please. A team will probably bring him into camp as an UDFA and see if he has anything. This is taking the "I heard of him . . .lets draft him", sentiment to new levels. This guy is untouchable to most of the NFL. Maybe the Raiders draft him with their first pick in the 5th round. I am surprised that he had a sick, bad combine.

This is a good idea. This has happened in the real world. This is how the Chiefs got Matt Cassel. And will likely play out again with Matt Flynn. If the Texans are really willing to let Mario Williams walk they most assuredly should franchise him and trade. So I don't understand why people are jumping on DontCrossDaMoats for proposing something that does happen in the NFL and is in the best interest of the Texans. The player is not tied to the Franchise Tag Deal. The Team that trades for the player can negotiate a long term deal immediately. Matt Cassel signed a multi year deal at a lot lower annual rate that the QB Franchise Tag Number. This really isn't far fetched and works out well for both teams. Especially if the Bills can work out a 5 year $100M deal with Mario Williams. Everything considered the Bills stepping up to the plate and offering a pick plus putting a $100M on the table is the most far fetched piece of the proposal. -
Yeah the #13 overall pick usually has no expectations, I mean its a surprise he even made the regular season roster BTW the average STARTING WR plays 6 seasons. So 2 productive season is about 1/3 of a career. 4 seasons on the roster is more than enough time if to know if the player is worth FAIR MARKET VALUE of 8 MIL a season. 8 Mil a year is only overpaying to cheap Bills fans. Bills fans are Cheap!

I know. My post #2 was. D'uh its trade back but why bother have that option, no one wants the #10 pick. The poll should be done again with the trade back removed and Michael Floyd added.

Negative Buzz from the Combine...

It has nothing to do with Perry's hype, (and are you getting me, Perry has gotten nothing but hype coming out of the combine . . .) Its about scarcity. You can find guys similar to Perry easier. You can not find guys similar to Michael Floyd, Mike Adams, or Jonathan Martin. The Bills have more than 1 need and need to get the most impactful player possible at #10 overall. Michael Floyd is a guy that is "Uncovered when he is covered." Most scouts think Jonathan Martin is a Day 1 starter that should still be playing well in 10 years. That is a huge impact. If you get Andre Branch @ #42 is there really a huge delta between his impact and Perry's? I don't think the same can be said at the WR level, There is a huge difference between Sanu and Floyd. Huuuuggee Delta. When it comes to the second and third tier tackles. There is a huge delta between Nate Potter and Jonathan Martin. Huuugge Delta. That is why Perry is not an intelligent pick at #10 overall. -

I am worried. Especially in Buffalo. Other cities driving while intoxicated will make you a pariah and in Buffalo its much more accepted on a large scale. Thats where the scouts need to interview and talk to ND coaching staff, ND administrative, and ND security staff. The DUI was on campus which makes it in my eyes a worse decision that the already poor decision to get behind the wheel. You couldn't have walked a few miles, took a campus bus, or grabbed a cab? Come on man. Now people do learn from mistakes. Floyd was suspended, almost for the entire year and was close to heading to the supplemental draft. That is the scary close to life altering mistake that may change someone's future actions. If he thinks he walks on water and is entitled to be a first round pick no matter what he does in his personal life, than you have to stay away. If that is the case then you can get Mike Adams (who had his own character issues with the Tattoo thing (mild imo) and now he had a weak bench press numbers, for a huge guy like that is more of red flag imo) or if Martin is there. Where I think Martin is pretty much a sure thing. Either way there isn't a Front7 guy that is BPA over those three and is very likely that Martin, Floyd or Adams will be there at #10. -
very funny article about draftnik-dom
1B4IDie replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with that. I'm not saying I can be a pro scout. I am saying I can spot a player whose talent at the College level can project well in the NFL, but yes that is only a small percentage of what is important. I've been watching High School, College, and NFL football for 25 years and at an obsessive level. I can spot a guy that has a chance to play at the next level. Now I will never be able to see their football acumen, if they fit a particular system, if their techniques are polished, if they are coachable, and how disciplined they are in practice. Football acumen, Practice Discipline and effectively seeking and incorporating feedback from coaches being far more important than how high you can jump from a stand still. So a draftnik can never truly scout, that doesn't mean that they can't pick prospects in a draft with a similar accuracy. Maybing staring at coaches tape of the way a person's foot is positioned doesn't help as much to determine if a top prospect can play the game as the scouting world would have one believe. They need to justify their position. They have a pretty sweet gig. The success rate by the scouting world was found in a study to be 52%. I am very confident I can pick first round draft picks for the Bills at a higher rate of 52%. Not to mention the Bills hit rate for 1st rounders is closer to 25%. My point is that many die hard draftniks do have the tools to create a view of the prospect that is much more complete than the article gives them credit. They can sift through the talent of the first round prospects where there is an enormous amount of video, interviews, and some coaches feedback. There are less dark areas in the top prospects. Now when it comes to the 3rd-7th and UDFA prospects thats where there is a dearth of information and a draftnik is extremely unlikely to have an intelligent insight on the prospects, but they can have fun with their hobby. -

Not at #42. That would be a great second round pick. -

I think you're undervaluing the wealth of information and ease of access to video in 2012. In 1980 Scouting may have been a dark science where only a select few had enough access to information to closely evaluate talent. Yes nobody can know everything about every prospect but a draftnik can get a lot of information and get access to game film of the likely pool of prospects when their team picks. Especially in the 1st round. THE 5TH IS UNLIKELY and the 7th is even.more unlikely, but I can get my hands on almost every game that Mike Adams or Jonathan Martin played last year. You don't have to know about Conference USA prospects to make the #10 overall selection. In all seriousness without any doubt a fan poll on TBD would have had better results in the 1st round of the NFL draft from 2000-2010 than the Billa's scouting department and their wealth of expertise. Wouldn't you agree? -
Negative Buzz from the Combine...
1B4IDie replied to biggerdaddynj's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree if I didn't know who the prospects are, however Coples and Ingram are not special at Upshaw is an awkward fit on this team. So taking a Front7 prospect in the 2012 draft will likely be a reach. It would be a poor decision by the Bills to reach on a Front7 talent when there are some world class OTs and WRs available at #10 overall. -

If you draft arguably the best receiver in the draft at #10, you wouldn't have to worry about these scrubs. Draft Michael Floyd. -
1st: Floyd. 2nd: Curry. 3rd: L. David. 4th: Acho. 4th: Egnew
1B4IDie replied to NewEra's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah Lavonte David is a bit too small for me and probably Nix, he is out of the Bryan Scott mold. I like Travis Lewis a lot and his toe problems could take even longer to heal. The good news is he toughed through the injury also good news he ran one of the fastest 40s for an OLB so he might be healed. Lewis could be a deal if he were there in the 3rd. He was a beast in 2010, like a possible late first rounder. A Floyd, Curry (or Branch), Lewis, Acho Draft is really really nice. If Acho is gone you can throw in Nate Potter then maybe Malik Jackson with the second 4th. Also check out Curb your Enthusiasm you can start with season 5. -

No problem, Just saying that from Feb - April a lot of the posts are going to be draft speculation and you're correct its not likely anyone will get it correct. You can't expect an almost sure thing late 1st rounder like Aaron Williams to fall into the second. But the point of these posts are to discuss draft prospects that's the fun, the fun isn't getting it 100% correct, the point is to work out possible scenarios. Some people like to get deep, why beyond the first round down into priority UDFAs. I'm more of a 1-5 rounder guy my self. BTW Cat's Cradle is my favorite. -

A bet you a million dollars your post was added no value to the conversation of possible draft option for the Buffalo Bills in 2012. -

I love 3/4 of those picks. I would sign up for that draft. I'm not sure if Larry David can make it the NFL though, if his laces are untied he might be able to make a play, but that only works so many times. -
It's time for Bills' fans to realize there isn't a defensive talent that is BPA over the OTs and WRs at the #10 pick in the 2012 draft. The only defensive player you can argue is possibly Upshaw, but he is not a pass rush specialist and in a full time 4-3 you lose emphasis on the OLB. I really don't think anyone is proposing to convert Upshaw to a 4-3 DE, so its kinda like why bother at #10 overall.

QB Ryan Tannehill to Bills at #10 ??

You think Tajh Boyd is going to stay 2 more years? I think he'll enter the draft next year but you're right 4 more years, he needs 3 years of starts.
