Not really rights and wrong, just a civil discussion between two Bills fan. Your opinion is always much respected. So I'm not saying that the two players are the same, I think AJ Green was a bit more polished but I'm just saying: AJ Green Georgia 6'3 5/8 211 34 3/8 9 1/4 4.50 18 34.5 10'6 Michael Floyd Notre Dame 6'2 5/8 220 32 7/8 9 3/8" 4.42 16 36.5 122 Seriously if Michael Floyd is there at #10 with or without Stevie on the roster, I'm A-OK with this pick. Yes we need a pass rush. However Ingram and Coples are not 1st round talent in most year's draft classes. I doubt they would be in the 1st round discussion in the 2011 draft. You'd stack rank them at the bottom of the this list in my opinion. Von Miller Marcell Dareus Aldon Smith J. J. Watt Nick Fairley Robert Quinn Ryan Kerrigan Adrian Clayborn Cameron Jordan - Coples Muhammad Wilkerson - Ingram They are not BPA or anywhere near it at #10 in the 2012 draft. (OK maybe Coples goes in front of Muhammad Wilkerson and Ingram goes after Wilkerson)

The reason why it matters is because when a 6-4 260 pound guy is running after you and a 6-6 320 pound guy is standing in front of you, your ability to get the ball where it is supposed to be is extreemly hampered. Its like watching a guy dunk on an 8 feet rim and wondering why he isn't playing in the NBA. Moore is not nearly as atheletic as Drew Brees. Its extreemly not likely Moore or Wilson can be succesfull in the NFL. I always liked the idea of getting Cousins in the 3rd or 4th round. I now confirmed my feeling. If Cousins is there at pick ~106. I'd be happy with that pick.

QB Ryan Tannehill to Bills at #10 ??
1B4IDie replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Tannehill is a better prospect than Gaine Blabbert or Jake Schlocker (although Locker looked pretty guide in some relief duty) I still wouldn't want the Bills to take Tannenhill at #10 overall. Weeden will hit the ground running on a team with a Week 1 need at QB. We just have 3 more years until the Bills take Chad Kelly with their first round pick. -
Yes. I don't understand why anyone wouldn't. (The Stevie Franchise Tag looks like it might happen, right now a deal doesn't look likely.)
-
Where is Michael Floyd? Trade Back is the sane thing to do, but its not really a reality because there really isn't a individual talent that another team would trade up for.
-
Not for me. Would you take Michael Crabtree if he were in this draft at #10 overall?
-
It might of been awhile ago, but we were discussing Blackmon and I was saying how, he is not a "Calvin Johnson" type but more like a "Michael Crabtree" type. Crabtree was super dominant at Texas Tech but wasn't worth the high draft pick (and Holdout) although he is a good WR you probably don't want to take him as high as the 9ers took him. Blackmon is similar to Crabtree physically and now actually a little shorter. Whoever I had the discussion with, we said we would we'll wait until the combine for the measurements, as they said "Blackmon passes the Megatron eye test" Under 6'1" isn't going to help Blackmon win any jump balls in the NFL. That measurement is likely going to drop him a few slots. Personally I wouldn't be surprised if Floyd ends up being the first WR off the board. I certainty wouldn't mind if Floyd was the Bills pick at #10.

Buddy doesn't like Top DEs Mock

Wow, what happens when you take the round restriction off; throw in Rounds 1&2 and UDFAs? How many rookies got over 5 sacks? Is there a higher success rate earlier? I'm willing to guess that you'll have the same rookie success rate if you include the earlier rounds. Instead of looking at all players drafted as a percentage it would make sense to limit the total number of players to just DEs and LBs. So looking real quick 2006 = 17 DE, 21 LB 2007 = 15 DE, 27 LB 2008 20 DE 22 LB Lets just call that 40 a year so 240. 7/240 ~3% hit rate in their rookie year. Not to mention that some of those picks ended up putting up sacks after their rookie year as well. But the point being the Bills need pass rush help in 2012. If they get Andre Branch in the second round and Martin/Adams/Floyd in the 1st, I'll be a happy camper. Not a fan of Coples or Ingram at the #10 overall. -
Have another one!

What do you mean? In the NFL history there are plenty of 3-5 round pass rushers that helped their teams in their rookie year. Why couldn't the Bills find one? Last year I can think of two of the top of my head Justin Houston and Sam Acho. -
Yeah. He needs to keep the beard.

I love me some Emanuel Acho in the 3rd or 4th. I wanted Sam Acho in the 4th last year. That would have been a great pick over Searcy. Also Nix and I are agreement, I don't think Ingram or Coples would have been 1st rounders in the 2011 draft. Justin Houston went in the 3rd and I'd argue he is a better prospect than Coples or Ingram. The 2012 draft is really weak at 4-3 DE. -
Wait, people think Stevie won't get 8-9 mil per year on a 5 year deal as a free agent? That's funny. Bills fans are cheap!

Buffalo Bills TIME MACHINE!!!
1B4IDie replied to SelmonSmith6378's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This would be my moment too. it took almost a decade to come out of the shadow of that Rob Johnson trade. The Nix era is the first era to start fresh without any echos of that decision. My best friends father was an oline coach in the NFL at the time of the trade and new Rob Johnson. He called Rob Johnson the dumbest QB he ever met and said "I wish you a lot of luck with that one, you're gonna need it. " It seemed like an obvious bad trade at the time and has to go down as a top ten worst trade kn NFL history. Flutie would have one more playoff games. -
THE USC game? HE has more than two dozen more impressive games. He is in the AJ Green band of WRs. GOOD hands, smart kid, with a great physique. VERY low risk if he learned his lesson about DUIs. I really don't know what the supposed knocks are against him, he doesn't have top end speed. If the Bills took Floyd I don't think there would be a lot of revisionist history around the 2012 draft.
-
Do you see the "?" In my post? No clue how your post answers that question.
-
Why the heck is Floyd locked out? Nix and Gailey have already tipped their hand and it is very likely the pick is going to be a WR ot Left Tackle. As much as people want Coples, Ingram or Upshaw to be a sack master, they are not. Taking any of them over Floyd or Adams or Martin is the text book definition of "A reach" and is definietely not "Best Player Available."
-
I agree 100% even by Hindsight Spiller was the pick.
-
The Bills are not in a position to make a deal today. The Time for this was August. Stevie said he will wait until he is a Free Agent and hear offers from other teams. Anyone in Stevie's shoes would do the same thing.
-
Besides pointing out that you sign over performing 7th rounders the season before they become Free Agents before they get a chance to test the market. But yeah. When the 7+ Mil Dollar deal from Buffalo is compared to the 7+ Mil Dollar deal from San Francisco, we will definitely know if SJ will be a be a Bill and like usual the Bills FO will be wondering how to fill a new whole they created through mismanagement.
-
Seriously Its not a zero sum gain. Both teams can gain in a trade. Plus it looks like the Bills get to flip the coin one more time in the 5th round.
-
It's not arbitrary. It's a standard benchmark. And the point wasn't it is awesome. The point was you were saying that the 1000 yard mark is diluted in 2012 and there are 19 WRs that did in 2011. My point is there are only 9 that did it in back to back years the last two seasons. This type of production is rewarded on the Free Agent market.
-
If you know anything about Stevie this is a distinct possibility. You can't put a number on winning a Super Bowl for your childhood team. If the 9ers match the Bills low ball offer I'm sure he is on a plane that day. And they only that happens is the rest of the NFL confirms the fact that the Bills are a farm team. Let the Bills draft them and break them in, then the teams trying to win will step up and pay them.
-
Look into the number of WRs that had back to back 1,000 yard seasons. you might be underestimating that benchmarks.

Applying an individual situation to the entire league is not logical.
