  1. There are other factors in play here though. 1) They love Kevin Kolb, and want him to be the guy for the next 10 years. 2) McNabb and Kolb are both unrestricted free agents after this season, meaning you won't be able to sign both to a long term deal after this season, because both will want starters money and starters jobs. 3) If you have decided that Kolb is your future, than it means one more year of McNabb until you turn the keys over. So, it's either trade McNabb now and get value for him, or let him play out his contract and walk away for nothing after next season.
  2. Maybe they're tired of building through mediocre draft picks, and they have decided to invest in proven talent? I don't know. It worked for New Orleans
  3. No, I get it. But you apparently think it's Donte's devine right to be a starter, even though others have clearly out played him, because he was a first round pick. Yet the same benefit doesn't apply to McCargo, because McCargo was drafted to fit a different defensive scheme than the 3-4. So, my question to you was...."Donte Whitner was drafted to fit the 3-4?"
  4. I didn't realize Whitner was drafted for the 3-4 defense.
  5. So we can go ahead and pencil McCargo in to then , eh?
  6. There has been a lot of speculation that with the signing of Andra Davis that the Bills would kick Mitchell outside and have 3/4ths of their LB slots filled. Thank god that doesn't seem to be the case. Mitchell is an AVERAGE at best ILB, and offers zero pass rush from the edge. To me, his only value is he is better in pass coverage than Andra Davis, and will probably be limited to 3rd down ILB duties. Hopefully Schobel comes back, Maybin and Ellis both make sense trying their hand at OLB in the 3-4, but if you were going to have Mitchell and Davis on the field at the same time on a regular basis, then you'd just be begging to be mediocre. From Billsdaily. Scott, Wilson Backups: During Chan Gailey's comments to the media yesterday he gave a little insight to the depth chart. He referred to Kawika Mitchell as an inside linebacker. There was some speculation he may go outside with the signing of Andra Davis. He also said they have tremendous depth at safety calling Bryan Scott and George Wilson backups. That indicates that Donte Whitner is likely a starter again along with Jairus Byrd. We have updated our depth chart with the changes. ( Also, for what it's worth, I understand why Wilson and Scott are backups to Whitner. I mean, sure they make more plays on a consistent basis than Whitner, but............................................................................. .....................................)
  7. Wouldn't it be hard to justify drafting a guy 9th overall who would share a role with 2 other guys on the roster, when we have full-time positions of need so readily available? Besides, Lynch makes first round money...Jackson got an extension last offseason. Can they really afford to put more money in the position? I think McCluster is much more realistic than Spiller.
  8. Truthfully, outside of secondary and guys who kick the ball, is there really a position on this team where if we brought in a stud, you would say to yourself "wow, they were already set there!!!" Obviously we won't be drafting a guard or a fullback 9th overall, but name a position on the roster, and you could make the argument we need help there. And for the love of god will people stop saying we should have brought Incognito back!! When did this guy become Steve Hutchinson? I live in St. Louis, and let me tell you, the Rams have been AWFULL over the last few years, but this guy has single handedly cost them games. Even in a game they won ( 2008 vs Washington), they were down in Washington territory with seconds left down by 1 point, and Incognito got into a fight with a Redskins player, and moved Josh Brown back from kicking a chip shot 35 yard FG to having to hit a 50 yard FG with the game on the line. Luckily for him, Brown made the kick. The guy is a penalty machine. He played it off in Buffalo like he was frustrated by losing, but there was a streak of games where every week he was committing a penalty. I know fans like his "passion and fire", but I guarantee you, if he would have been a 16 game starter, there WOULD have been an instance where his stupidity cost us valuable points and maybe even a game or 2.
  9. The Dilfer offense works when you have Ray Lewis, Rod Woodson, Chris McAllister, Sam Adams and Tony Siragusa on your defense. The Bills don't have anywhere close to that on theirs. Mitchell as an OLB in a 3-4 is a liability. If this defense is serious about improving, Mitchell should rotate with Davis at one ILB spot with Mitchell playing passing downs and Davis playing rushing downs...and let Schobel, Maybin and potentially a draft pick tackle the OLB spot.
  10. A lot of talent on defense? We don't have one superstar on that side of the ball. Our secondar is set, in my opinion, but Poz is our only above average inside linebacker ( Mitchell and Davis will rotate at the other inside LB spot, and neither are anything more than a role player). Maybin, Schobel, Kelsay and Ellis are currently our outside LBs? REALLY? Some fans seem to be excited about the idea of putting Mitchell outside, with Davis and Poz inside, but I still fail to see what is so exciting about the prospect of having 2 of your 4 starting LB's being completely average.
  11. I'd love to know how Maybin doesn't count? They spent their most premium draft pick on a pass rusher. Saying the guy was a disappointment in year one is fair. Saying he "doesn't count" is a little foolish.
  12. So pay a premium price for a substandard product? And you ask why not?

  14. I feel like the switch to the 3-4 is going to help some players and hurt others. I have no idea what to think of Stroud's chances. He has been a 4-3 DT his entire career, but a 5-technique D-End has a similar role in 2-gapping. The guy I think could excell as a 3-4 DE is Spencer Johnson.
  15. I don't understand the theory that drafting Tim Tebow will sell tickets! Jacksonville conducted a fan poll on whether or not the team should take Tebow, and the majority of the fans came up with no. If Jacksonville, an area of Florida where Tebow is considered a god, has fans who say no, why would he sell tickets in Buffalo? With the internet, NFL Network and people like Ron Jawrowski and Mike Mayock breaking down pro's and con's, fans have become too smart for a gimmick, sell-tickets pick. With that being said, I fully believe if the Bills take Tebow, it won't be to sell tickets, rather they think he can be the answer. Think about it. 1) They bring in a coach who has previous success ( at the NFL level) with a spread offense. 2) Chan Gailey had an offense put up great numbers with a mobile/inaccurate QB in Tyler Thigpen 3) Buddy Nix keeps preaching to us about how this regime wants to see a full resume of success, and they won't be drafting guys who didn't get it done in college. People take that as a shot at Aaron Maybin, but to me it seems like a pre-cursor to the introductory Tim Tebow presser- "We want guys with a proven track record of success, and show me a guy in this draft with a better one then the guy we got" 4) Jim Kelly, who works for the organization...mind you, has been going public saying he wants the Bills to draft Tebow.
  16. I'm not going to pretend to watch old DVD's of Bills games focusing on the line of scrimmage, but it seems like common sense would point to Marcus Stroud being an underperforming player. Since he has been a Bill, our run defense has continued to be terrible. Yet, every expert/film-watcher talks about how underrated and under appreciated Kyle Williams is. Simple math tells me if you have two very good DT's, it would be hard to have such a bad run D, even if your linebackers are street free agents.
  17. Feedback for what? You basically went to BB.com and copied their draft history. Um...good work?
  18. So we need to draft a good player? Thanks
  19. For those of us who aren't as familiar with Edwards, please explain the "risk"
  20. How about Whitner for Quinn? They just lost Brodney Pool, they could use a safety. Whitner clearly loves the idea of playing in Florida. Both players have been somewhat disappointing in their original cities. And, if you trade salary for salary, there is no increase in payroll, so there is no added pressure to play Quinn. All he would get here is an opportunity to compete. And let's be honest, if he can't win this competition, he probably can't hack it in the NFL.
  21. You want to pay him 3 million more than we paid T.O. last year to be a high profile WR coach?
  22. Yes, Tom Brady was a 6th round pick in 2000. Since 2000, here are the other 6th round pick QB's over the last 10 drafts. Marc Bulger Spergon Wynn Todd Husak Josh Booty Josh Heupel J.T. O’Sullivan Drew Henson Brooks Bollinger Kliff Kingsbury Andy Hall Josh Harris Jim Sorgi Jeff Smoker Derek Anderson Bruce Gradkowski Jordan Palmer Colt Brennan Todd Brandstater Mike Teel Keith Null Curtis Painter Not one player on that list experienced ANY success at the NFL level for the teams they were drafted by. A couple experienced inconsistent success after they were let loose by the team they were drafted by, and most fell deep down into NFL obscurity.
  23. If we spend a 2nd round pick on a free agent, then we really need to just pack up the offices and move to Canada.
  24. I'm pretty sure he was tendered with a 2nd round pick. Now, when I'm watching the Colts, I'm not going to lie and pretend to pay much attention to the left tackle. Manning doesn't get sacked much, but I'm fully aware that probably has a lot to do with him being so aware. But, if the Bills were to go QB in the first round, wouldn't it make sense to sign this guy to an offer sheet, and for the price of a second round pick get a guy with NFL starts on his resume for an elite offense?
