  1. Is this a good time to say "trust the process"? 😜
  2. Not if you're Ray Rice. If you are talented enough, someone will give you a shot eventually. If you are marginal and risk offending fans or sponsors, buh-bye.
  3. I find this VERY hard to believe. Some teams it's the coach, some it's the GM and some it is the owner. And sometimes it is a combination of 2 or 3 of those. Teams don't usually disclose who has final say but fans and media speculate and assume.
  4. i have a feeling the Cowboys may go for him at some point.
  5. I guess that is better than disrespectfully agreeing. 😃 The problem is, if the team did not believe there was a franchise QB available in the first round, let alone in the entire draft, would you have felt better if they took one at 10 and spent the next 2-3 seasons trying to make the pick work? I personally feel better knowing we have 4 QB's on the roster to evaluate this year and the ability to target a QB next draft with our 2 picks if no one stands out.
  6. Maybe I am naïve, but I would assume that almost every successful franchise is run with a collaboration between head coach and general manager. The trick is that they to share a similar vision and have an understanding about how to get there. I agree there is no added benefit to losing a close one and we often spend time late in the season saying if only these 2 or 3 games had gone differently. But hopefully coaching can help close the gap in close games going forward. Time will tell. It sounds like you and I are in agreement regarding the GM, coach relationship.
  7. That McDermott will be a puppet master for Beane. That appears to be what you are implying by saying he will ultimately get his way.
  8. How exactly do we all know this? It is pure speculation on your part. Period.
  9. So throwing a ball far is the only indicator of success for a QB?
  10. We lost 6 games last year by one score. If we convert 2 of those this year because of better coaching or better play from some of our key playmakers, then we finish 9-7. Yes, I believe we were talented enough last year to have done better than we did. There is no way of knowing yet if the new system will be better than that of Rex and Rob, but there is definitely reason for optimism. As far as Beane goes, I have heard great things about his ability to evaluate talent, and I am sure he has already started looking at what we currently have, so I hope he is actively involved in the roster creation process.
  11. Can we speculate who he would be sending them to?
  12. So you would rather go 2-14 to get a "franchise QB" rather than go 10-6 and make the playoffs with the talent already on the roster? I can not get onboard with that. I am hoping our new system gets enough out of this years roster so that next years draft is adding to the vision already in place.
  13. Peter Schrager on Good Morning Football this morning was praising the Brandon Beane hiring and said that he is widely considered one of the best scouting minds in the NFL. The more I hear, the more excited I get about this hire.
  14. Not really. Peterman was not the pick that is tied to the Chiefs trade. The real question will be how Tre White does and what we do with the extra first round pick next year.
  15. ugh, so sad. Prayers to CB.
  16. Isn't it possible/ likely, that they had this particular combo in mind for some time, but they had to get the coach first to allow him time to get started before the draft? They may have wanted Beane with him all along but had to wait to pull the trigger until after the draft?
  17. Sorry, too many people around here making ridiculous comments, it broke my sarcasm filter. In my defense, others took it for genuine negativity as well.
  18. Which is why change is neccesary. So your theory is that the Bills suck because people hate being Bills fans? We are one of the most loyal fan bases in the NFL, no big surprise that there are vocal, negative fans on a team message board. You were right the first time... People from Boston are bad.
  19. True, and if we had dragged things out for too long, there is always the fear that they make him an offer he can't refuse.
  20. We often post the listings for outgoing Coaches, Players and Gm's. If you are not interested, skip the thread.
  21. He apparently lives in Jacksonville, so that stacks the deck against us. The good news is he probably already knows Beane from his time in Carolina.
  22. To everyone saying that Beane has no experience, I disagree. I consider guys like Elway and Lynch to be candidates with no experience (before they were hired). Beane is an NFL front office veteran with experience in nearly every facet of running an NFL franchise. Much lower risk than say, handing your franchise to Peyton Manning, or some other ex player. I understand that some feel there may have been other "more qualified" candidates out there, but in my opinion, we got a young, competitive up and comer with plenty of hands on training and experience already under his belt.
