  1. The only way this team runs the table is if they go spread option on offense, they let Manuel take 5-10 shots down the field every game, he connects on many of them for TDs, and Manuel is willing and allowed to run the ball at least 6-10 times. The Bills have the defense to do it, but this horrible offense needs both drastic changes to the game plan and a dramatic improvement in play from EJ Manuel. If the Bills run this same predictable offense vs the Jets this Sunday, then it will be over before the end of the first quarter. To run the table, basically EJ Manuel needs to become the 2012 "Superman" version of RGIII starting this week. There's a fat chance of that happening, but I really hope this offense goes from a run heavy offense to a pass heavy offense just so we can have a big sample of what the Bills have with EJ Manuel. So there's very little question after the season on whether we still need a QB or not. These last six games are "The EJ Games."
  2. The Bills had few options. They obviously didn't want to draft him in mid first round, since they traded back in the first round before they selected their "franchise QB of the future." So even the Bills knew themselves that the Manuel pick was risky and a half round reach. These next six games are no longer about the playoffs, they have officially become "The EJ Games". Because there will be a lot of decent QBs coming in this next draft. If EJ doesn't turn it around and start looking steady and solid, I could see the Bills use another first round pick on a QB if the guy looks better than EJ.
  3. EJ had better start playing like a first round pick because the Bills are not locked into him given today's smaller first round contracts. Bills fans no longer have any patience for losing. Also, Marrone is the biggest loser for not going for it on 4th and 5. Embarrassing decision.
  4. Christie will be very hard to beat. I live in NJ and I don't care what the exit poll said, Hillary won't beat him here. Once women start hearing Hillary's shrill voice again they will run towards the velvet tones of Christie...LOL Seriously though, women do like Christie a lot. He won 57% of the female vote and he was going against a female candidate. Is he a RHNO? Well duh, but he did have to govern a deep blue state which is right next to the media capital of the world. Depending on how you look at it, he was smart enough to drop the "mean white guy yelling at whiney teacher" youtube act and turned on the charm when it became clear his star was on the rise with the oval office a real possibility. It will be fascinating for me to hear his solutions for the entire country given his checkered successes and failures as a governor. Because he was so darn good his first two years here, then just kind of coasted the rest of the way until Sandy.
  5. I haven't predicted a Bills game all year. But I'm predicting that the Bills will beat the Steelers and it won't be close. I'm going "all in", whatever that means...LOL I don't care what their record says, I don't care about past nightmare road Steeler games, I don't care about having a rookie QB, the Bills are a good young team on the rise and they're the only team playing in this game who are still in contention. The Steelers are old and tired looking. Having said that, the biggest factor to me is the emotional one, I think that the Bills will be letting this season's frustration out on the Steelers this Sunday. They're good, they know it, and this Sunday they will to show it.
  6. Seems to me that there may be a few Obama voters among the millions of people who've just had their healthcare dropped due to this law. Millions more who've had their rates doubled. Think these people won't be looking to punish the party that lied to them? Especially the independents whose numbers keep growing. I see Obamacare as "The Titanic" for the democrat party. The republicans would do well to completely do away with the "tea party" vs "establishment" labels. Go back to the "conservative" and "moderate" labels. It's boring and the media would hate it. If you're breathing and you're a republican you should do very well in the coming elections.
  7. Oh snap!! Dropping draft position commentary in an optimistic thread such as this? For shame...LOL Hop on board the silly, "we're still in it" playoff dreaming Buffalo Bills bandwagon before the good seats are all gone.
  8. Thanks, it's nice to still have a dream scenario to hang on to. If they don't beat the Steelers then the odds go straight to 100-1...LOL The most important thing of all (even beyond making the playoffs this year) is that the rest of this year EJ Manuel gives promising indications that he's the coming a true franchise QB like we had with Jim Kelly.
  9. This was definitely a "glimmer of hope" thread and not a "prediction" thread. If I had to give a percentage of this actually happening it would be around a 5-10% chance. Slim, but it's out there given the winnable games on their schedule.
  10. My scenario is them actually winning out and going 10-6. They probably lose all tie breakers at 9-7 IMO. It's a long shot of course, but it's fun to look at the games left and see a path. Teams do get on a roll in this league and we all see something different with this bunch. I'm still excited to watch them this week and haven't given up hope on the playoffs.
  11. In my OP I did say that the Jets game was "a very tough one". However we do get them at home which will be a big advantage if the RWS is super loud that day. We'll also have Gilmore and Byrd this time around. I could see interceptions coming from Geno and the Bills winning that one. The Jets are a legitimately good team. But they can be beat when they're playing on the road with a crazy and intense crowd.
  12. Beating the Steelers is the first step of course which I expect them to do given how old the Steelers look this year and how young, energetic and talented the Bills look. I do see that EJ Manuel starting and playing well is the main factor to the whole "run the table" scenario. Unfortunately that factor is the great unknown one right now. It's a stretch to think he be up for that kind of a run, but this has been a very strange season in the NFL. If they do beat the Steelers, it would then become a real showdown game vs the Jets at home with the hopes of the Bills winning then picking off the low hanging fruit till that last game. It's nice to dream, but there is a path (yes, it's a long shot one) to the playoffs if this young team starts hitting it's stride and quickly learns how to win.
  13. I just went through the remaining schedules of all of the teams that are still in contention for that last wildcard spot and I think there's the possibility out there that the Bills can run the table and get in. With the full knowledge that the Bills record does not reflect how good of a team this is, and looking at our soft remaining schedule, this team could realistically win the next 6 games and have a shot to get in the playoffs this year if they of course finish the season by beating New England on the road (not out of the realm of possibilities coming off a 6 game winning streak, right?). Here's the landscape... The "10 win and your in" model... Jets have to go 5-2 to get to 10 wins - possible and they're the front runners Dolphins are imploding - no way Browns need 6 out of 7 - no way Ravens need 7 out of 8 - no way Titans need 6 out of 8 - they still have to play the Colts twice and the Broncos so no way Chargers need 6 out of 8 - they still have to play the Broncos twice so no way Looking at the schedules of those teams in contention, the Jets have the best shot to get to 10 wins. The rest are just as long of a shots as the Bills running the "soft schedule" table if not longer shots. Now I know that this team ripping off 6 straight wins for a wildcard playoff birth showdown at New England in the last game sounds like a fantasy, however I can certainly envision a long Bills winning streak looking at that schedule. If they can beat the Steelers and the Jets (a very tough game now) to start the roll, then anything is possible.
  14. The Dolphins actually used his extremely bad reputation in an ad to promote fan responsibility, seriously... http://www.miamidolphins.com/multimedia/videos/2013-Fan-Conduct-with-Richie-Incognito/4c34855f-79e3-4157-bb5d-9e99590af666
  15. If given an non-easy schedule the Chiefs are a .500 or a slightly above average team. IMO, the Bills are just as good as them if not better with Manuel. This should not be shocking if you look at who each team has played and how good the Bills looked against them today and other opponents on their somewhat tough schedule. As for Tuel, it isn't shocking that he would make THE key mistake which cost them the game. I was expecting something like that, just not one that was that historically bad and dramatic of a mistake. The fact that it was such a big mistake is why we see the Tuel bashing and hand wringing. He was and is who we all should have thought he is, barely a practice level QB. The guy played alright when you considering the circumstances which thrust him into action a couple years too early. I like the way this young team plays and I see them as having a very promising future. I'm looking forward to seeing Manuel come back and hopefully watch him play so well that 2014 will look very much like the year that the non-playoff streak ends.
  16. This was not a bad interview at all. In fact, in my view it only enhances the so-called "legend" of Kiko. The guy is authentically the polar opposite of the Deion Sander's flashiness that we all still see in full force today. His arrival is as refreshing as anything I can remember.
  17. That's why I put in the words "if true". Given how there seems to be a teen suicide every week due to bullying, I'd be surprised if the national NFL media weren't about to give the Miami Dolphins a heck of a public enema over this. We all know that there's good natured hazing that they all go through, but when does that cross over to meanness and cruelty? This may be a case of that happening. The offensive line play in this league is horrible. The worst I've ever seen. If Martin's only a solid backup he will get another job with an NFL team. SF, Indy, Pats, Broncos are all teams that seem more interested in winning games than allowing a situation like this.
  18. Reading some of the Martin articles and if true, it seems to me that it doesn't get much more hostile than a room full of adults picking on a guy with emotional issues, and apparently having little to no repercussions coming from the FO, coaches or veterans. If the Bills coaches and veterans let something like this go on and on to the point where the guy actually has a breakdown in front of everybody, then I couldn't be a fan of them any longer until they got rid of those responsible including the head coach. I feel bad for Martin and he will need to either retire or find a class organization that knows how to "handle" locker room bullies. This doesn't seem like the normal hazing stuff. Branding someone with the nickname "Big Weirdo" isn't "good natured" ribbing to me.
  19. I'm with you. They won a road game against a divisional opponent and the last I knew there are no style points in the NFL.
  20. Even if EJ isn't elite, just remember that 4 out of the last 6 Superbowls were won by non-ellite type of QBs. Flacco (1), E. Manning(2) and Rothlesburger (1). The Ravens, Giants and Steelers win by having their QBs play great at the right time, having expertly assembled teams and great coaching. This is the model the Bills are probably going for because the only other option is to lose all your games so that you can draft a guy like Winston. I really see EJ Manuel as being the perfect kind of QB to mold for a long haul Superbowl contending team.
  21. How's the depth in the the league's premiere NFC East division? What about Atlanta's depth? Houston's depth? Pittsburgh's depth? I think too many fans are living in the no salary cap/no free agency 80s and 90s. There is no depth on any NFL team. None. If happened to a key player, every NFL team is an injury away from Disasterville. IMO, the only adults I see in the league are the Broncos, Seahawks and Saints. The rest are runner-ups. How close you are to the big table is basically meaningless by the time the Superbowl rolls around. With our team's rather easy last seven games, I'm not counting out the Bills chances of getting into the playoffs at all.
  22. Geno Smith looks pretty good. There's no denying that. I think almost everyone thought that while he had the most natural talent, the pressure of NYC would crush him. The thing that will make or break him as his career progresses is how he handles a defense that can pressure him in the pocket. If the Jets can give him a very good offensive line then they are set at QB for a long time. As for EJ Manuel, the Bills went with the QB who had waaaay more in the leadership and steadiness department than natural throwing ability. They felt that they can "fine tune" the rawness of his mechanics which in turn will make him a more accurate thrower. So far EJ has been exactly what we thought he'd be, a leader who can make plays that win you games and also a rookie QB that needs to work on the rawness of his mechanics which in time will hopefully improve his accuracy. Both players still have question marks which only time will answer. I'm still very happy the Bills took EJ over Geno.
  23. LOL, think lack of depth is bad here? The Jaguars are using ball boys as wide receivers... http://fansided.com/...ers-scout-team/ Seriously though, I don't get all of the sudden frustration and outrage regarding the backup QB. Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see one person up in arms about Tuel being our backup before the Manuel injury. The hand wringing this week on this board has been so over the top. I've seen nothing yet that signals the Bills are not on the same track as they were in the mid-eighties. IMO, if not for the key injuries to Gilmore and Manuel, they'd be 4-1. As Bills fans I would hope that more fans would see this. I can understand the national media not bothering to look just below the surface, but I'm extremely excited for the future of this team. Once healthy, I think they are shaping up to be a Pittsburgh Steelers type of team. Strong defense, big/strong/athletic/opportunistic QB, and a great running game. I can't wait till the last seven games when the team is at full strength and we can see what we really have going on.
  24. Let the mass scale fraud and corruption begin in 3, 2, 1... http://michellemalkin.com/2013/10/02/seedco-obamacares-fraud-stained-navigators/ "Given the enormous responsibility to handle sensitive data in a careful, neutral manner, combined with the overwhelming pressure to boost Obamacare enrollments, you’d think the feds would only choose navigators with the most impeccable records. Yet, less than a year ago, Seedco agreed to settle a civil fraud lawsuit “for faking at least 1,400 of 6,500 job placements under a $22.2 million federally funded contract with the city.” Could it be that Obamacare is not about actual healthcare but really about mass scale "wealth" redistribution? How long before the middle class joins the poverty class after all their money has been drained by Obamacare? That "silly stupid Americans" Jimmy Kimmel Obamacare/ACA bit doesn't seem so funny after reading a story like this.
  25. The NFL is obviously very aware that there are millions of fans that bet on games. If there were any favoritism rising to the surface and becoming a topic of discussion, it will eventually backlash on the Broncos with them getting a lot more calls against them to dispel any notion the refs are favoring a specific team. The fact that there's so much betting ensures that the league polices itself.
