  1. Somehow the thought of trading back to aquire an extra 2nd and/or 3rd became an absurd notion. It's really pathetic since you guys refuse to post what you'd want the Bills to do in the draft. Instead you just want to act like a couple of third rate comedians. Are you jokers afraid of saying who or what you wish the Bills to do in the draft? Please, enlighten us with your draft strategy for this year.
  2. Congrads, you've won the obnoxious poster of the day award.
  3. I heard he clubs baby seals just for the fun it.
  4. On second thought, make it a "conditional" 2008 fourth round pick. Conditions being: If he has more carries than Jacobs it becomes a third. If he gets over 1000 it becomes a second. If he gets over 1500 it becomes a first. I'd take that.
  5. I read that too. Marv should just lay it out there like Reese did and exactly state the minimum of what he expects in return for trading McGahee. That way it squashes all insulting offers like Reese's "second day" pieces. McGahee's ours until someone throws down a "legit" offer. Otherwise it's a waste of time even talking about it.
  6. Weakness? You really have no idea what a team would be willing to part with for a player they deem worthy. It's going to fun to bring this post back on draft day when the Bills actually do trade back with a willing partner. You guys act like draft day trades are a foreign concept or something. Hello, the BUFFALO BILLS have traded up two out of the last three drafts. Want more proof? Check out this draft from 2004: http://www.gbnreport.com/2004draftorder.htm Your shock is hilarious.
  7. You're the first person I've heard say that Brown's not a left tackle. I've yet to see on the numerous draft sites I've read where that's even disputed. Your second point if completely off. Revis is THE cornerback of the draft, the "bunch" you mention are no where near the player Revis is projected to being. They are considered as a major drop-off in talent level. After Halls poor performances in the last part of the college season there's only one guy teams feel is a can't miss player at this position. It's very likely that the Bills will be fielding offers of teams wanting to trade up in the first come draft day.
  8. I'd take nothing less than a 2nd and a 5th (since we don't have one), or their 1st with us giving them our 4th. Before even signing a contract extention McGahee would be theirs for at least 2 seasons (his final year and then being able to use the franchise tag). If they really want him then they'll make the deal. If they haggle to much then the Bills should just tell them to go fish. The Bills are holding all the cards here because keeping McGahee for another season beats making a crap deal with the Giants any day of the week. Marv's a smart man, so I have faith in the Bills getting what they want if a deal is made.
  9. Levi Brown - KC, Dallas Darrelle Revis - Denver, New Orleans These two players will be there when we pick. The teams I've listed have no shot at drafting these players where there currently are. It's fantasy to think these teams don't covet those players enough and seriously consider trading picks to move up to get them. Please spare us the hyperbole.
  10. There's always some player that slips to number 12 that some team back in the pack will feel is their missing cog that puts them over the top. It would probably be a corner like Revis, a wide receiver like Jarrett or Ginn, a runningback like Peterson or Lynch, an offensive tackle like Brown or one of the two defensive ends like Adams or Anderson. Heck, there's only two standout linebackers in Willis and Timmons that teams know won't be there when they pick further on back. I'm sure the percentages of a team willing to trade with us will be high when it's our turn.
  11. If Okoye's gone, I really hope the Bills seriously think about trading out of their 1st round pick a couple of times and target getting Ryan Kalil in the back part of the first round. The Bills could easily pickup another 2nd and 3rd round picks by twice dealing out when their turn comes. I know no one here has targeted the center position as a need but think about it, the Bills have had major trouble running the ball up the gut for a loooong time and Kalil looks like a can't miss player. A big part of the Bills success during the Supe years was Kent Hull's stout presense. Then they would have 4 picks out of the next 60 player selections ending up with 5 of the top 90 players in the 2007 class. I'd much rather have this scenario then reaching for a guy like Patrick Willis and then only having 2 more selections to go after the first day has ended. The Bills could really fortify the youth rebuilding process they began last year. They then would be able to target LB, DT, OG, CB, RB, TE with their selections within the 2nd and 3rd rounds. A couple of these holes will no doubt be addressed in free agency, so the need list will be getting smaller.
  12. Clements will go to "insert NFL team that shows him the most money". Not that there's anything wrong with that.
  13. I'm sick and tired of waiting for Willis "The Dancing Machine" McGahee live up to what Bills fans were sold on when he became "100%". So he's going to be 100% in 2007? Is he 100% and the best he can do is a 900 something yard season? I'm done waiting and hope the Bills can get some value for him in terms of a draft pick. Call me names all you want, I've had it with him. It was too frustrating watching him try to gain yards last season.
  14. So now Chris Kelsey is the next Phil Hansen? Chris Kelsey registered only a half sack in the last 9 games of the Bills 2006 season. He's an average cog in a Bills defense that was pretty bad for most of the year. Lets not have delusions of granduer over Kelsey. He plays hard (see high motor) and is a good team guy, but that's no reason to way overspend on him (which some team will no doubt do). I think his production could easily be replaced by Hargrove and Denney. They were probably already going to draft a DE to develope. This team still has problems getting pressure on the QB and much of that is due to Kelsey not being that great of an athlete.
  15. The first four years Nate Clements would be averaging 11 million dollars a year. Where on earth have you seen that Nate Clements is worth 11 million dollars a year? I've watched every game Nate Clements has played for the Bills and I must have missed something along the way. Because the Nate Clements I've seen is no where near an 11 million dollar a year player. I don't even think he's worth 8 million a year.
  16. I actually was suprised at how much I liked Irvin his first year at ESPN. I thought he provided candid insight on player psyche on and off the field. He also wasn't afraid to be very critical of players which was a welcome change from a former player turned announcer (former players never seemed to be as critical before Irvin came along). After that first year, Irvin became the obnoxious vain jerk we all knew him for, so I'm glad he's been booted.
  17. The FA landscape has changed dramatically over the last few years. You want "all-stars"? Well here's a reasonable list of the #1 free agents available (from draftdaddy.com) at their respective positions: Jeff Garcia QB Ahman Green RB Drew Bennett WR Daniel Graham TE Leonard Davis OT Eric Steinbach OG Andre Gurode C Dwight Freeney DE Vonnie Holliday DT Lance Briggs OLB Loundon Fletcher ILB Asante Samuel CB Ken Hamlen S Now these are the TOP players the other 32 teams will be bidding for. That's a pretty lackluster list if you ask me. Out of this list Freeney, Briggs and Samuel may never even reach the FA market. There are a couple of reasons the FA market isn't near what it once was. Firstly, the talent level of the NFL just isn't what it was in the mid to late nineties and up until a few years ago. A lot of HOF type players have retired and their replacements haven't come close to reproducing their accomplishments. Secondly, the "smart" NFL teams have locked up their stars well before they hit the FA market. This is something the Bills have failed miserably at and it's an issue that continues to baffle and anger it's fans. Another aspect here is the war against the "big market" teams that Ralph has been waging for the past year. Wilson's credibility would take a huuuuuge hit if he were to be the team that pays out the biggest free agent contract this off season. He would be risking torpedoing (not a word) his own efforts if the Bills were to do this. I'm sure Marv has a limit on what he's allowed to spend in terms of FA money. The Bills will not be overpaying on free agents anytime soon. So expect no big splash, just look forward to the draft and hope the Bills are on the phone to Losman's and Evan's agents for extension talks.
  18. http://www.draftdaddy.com/prospects/collegescout.cfm This guy has us selecting - Chris Houston CB/Arkansas I loved this mock draft because it has the rational of each team under each selection. Houston was on Sirius NFL radio today and he said he ran a 4.27 40. After the combine this will be the guy that shoots up the draft charts in terms of being the best (and only?) lock-down corner in the draft. On a side note he said that Meacham was the fastest receiver he had faced this season. Whatever happens, I think the Bills will have their pick of a can't miss type player at 12. It will be one of a bunch of guys like Branch, Okoye, Brown, Willis, Timmons and Revis. Houston very well may end up being one of those "can't miss" type guys that the Bills could take. It seems he was able to be a dominant player in a conference with a bunch of top receivers. This is a wierd draft because until I see who's left after the Niners pick, I still don't know who'd I'd like the Bills to take.
  19. So Drew Bennett's 3 TDs last season was proof that he's a legit #1 receiver who plays at very high level? Wow, requirements of an NFL #1 receiver have certainly dropped. The knock on Bennett is that he's been known to drop easy passes and he's often injured. Adding to that that he's only had 3 and 4 TDs over the last two seasons I say no thank you to Drew. Any player the Bills get in FA should have to have proven their worth on the field, Bennett doesn't pass that test.
  20. Eddie was a move the pile player that was an integral cog on those very successful Titan teams. When they needed three or four yards he'd get it for them. Willis is more of the feast or famine type. He breaks a couple of big gainers every game then he'll get stuffed on his next ten carries. Though the average per carry is comparable, the effect on the team's fortunes is quite different. Also, George showed no fear in taking on blitzing linebackers. Willis has a major flaw. Either it's that talent-wise he was and always will be too slow to get to the hole or that he'll finally perform because he needed the prospect of a contract year to motive him in 2007. I don't like either proposition. When we first got Willis I was expecting him to dominate the league as long as he came back from the injury in that bowl game. It's clear to me that this isn't going to happen for whatever reason. Maybe he never came fully back. Maybe he's fully back and he's just an average runningback. Maybe he's not giving it his all. Maybe he's looking to turn on the jets in his contract year. At this point, I really don't care anymore. I hope the Bills will turn the page on Willis sooner rather than later, getting the best offer for him in terms of a 2007 draft pick. If that makes me a Willis basher, so be it.
  21. If McGahee were so good why would Jet fans have the same criticisms that many Bills fans have of the player? That being Willis has a poor YPC average and doesn't show up for teams not named the New York Jets. Maybe all this negativity towards him will make him want to give it his all in 2007, only time will tell. At least this season we'll ALL find out once and for all what kind of heart and skills this player has. If he's traded, I won't really care all that much because of how ineffective I saw him as our starting RB. I think Lynch, Hunt, Walker or Booker would be able to produce as good or better if one of them were drafted by the Bills. Please don't compare McGahee with Thomas. Thurman always gave 100%, which is something that everyone could see Willis didn't always give in 2006.
  22. I like Leonard too, it'd be great if he feel to us in one of the later rounds. The wierdest pick I saw was them having the Pats taking Lynch in the 1st round. What the heck was that? Did something happen to Maroney?
  23. The Bills are a "work in progress" that still has many question marks yet to be answered. Meaning that giving 8 million a year with a 20 million signing bonus to one player, even though they have the cap space to do this, could seriously handcuff the team down the road. Here's the breakdown of what's ahead (if all of our players play to what's now expected of them): Losman = 6-7 million per + signing bonus Evans = 8 million per + signing bonus Peters will eventually be in line for a renegotiation = 6 million per + signing bonus Unless the Bills strike it rich in the drafting of a new RB and #2WR. These positions will cost a lot of cap dollars. Having so many young talented starters (Crowell, Whitner, Simspon, Williams, Ellison, Pennington) means they'll all be coming up on FA at around the same time. This will be a problem if the Bills don't have the cap money left. I'm ok with the Bills offering Clements 7 million with a 15 million signing bonus, beyond that the Bills could be doing a diservice to eventually having a very good "well balanced" team in the future. My support would then switch to Youboty, who could eventually be better than Clements for all anyone knows.
  24. I would hate that draft. Absolutely hate it. Looking at who fell where I'd make the following draft choices... 1. Kalil C (After switching 1st rd picks with the Saints for their 2nd. The Saints would love to get Hall or Revis) 2. Harrell DT 2. Hunt RB 3. Ramirez OG 4. Jason Hill WR If Okoye is gone, which it seems more and more like he will be, I'm hoping the Bills seriously think about trading far enough back to gain a 2nd round pick. Can you imagine our line with Peters, Gandy, Kalil, Ramirez and Pennington? That offensive line could do some damage. You could even go one step further and sign Steinback to replace Gandy to finish that rebuilding project once and for all.
  25. I think that Okoye will be gone by pick 12.
