  1. The decision to throw away the undefeated season during the Jets game at home while they had the lead was unforgivable if you are a true football fan. I thinks it's one of the reasons why so many of the ex-players were rooting for the Saints. To me, the Colts as a team appear soulless, emotionless and robotic. Last night, the Saints showed how the game is supposed to be played and were rewarded for it.
  2. Thanks for giving me props after your initial smackdown. The Payton/Parcells connection was too big to dimiss. Payton's coaching and decision making was just as big of a factor as Brees' performance in them winning that game. That onside kick floored me.
  3. The closer this game gets the more I like the Saints. This is how I see it going... Sean Payton is a clone of Bill Parcells. I think Sean will come up with a brilliant game plan to try to keep Manning off the field. If the Saints win the toss and defer to the second half, Sean will try to recreate Kelly's Bills' offense staying off the field for a full hour like the Giants did. The Saints ball hawk defense will get 3 turnovers while their offense gives up only 1. The score will be 21-21 after the end of the fourth quarter leading to the first overtime in Superbowl history. The Colts win the toss. Manning is intercepted on the first drive by Jabari Greer who returns it to field goal range. Saints win 24-21.
  4. 5 wins, 5 losses... http://www.pro-football-reference.com/play...ennCh01/splits/ Considering how bad we've been this past decade that is not a good record at all.
  5. That's not true, I applaud Obama for finally owning up to the fact that he needs to work across the isle to tackle true bipartisan health care reforms. Obama and the Dems have only themselves to blame after promising "hope" and "change" ad nauseum for a full year, only to get in office and give America the middle finger. A heaping deep dish of Chicago style politics of just ramming things threw while bribing congressmen for votes, and having the backs of unions and trial lawyers. Hope and change became fear and loathing for good reason.
  6. First off, I did say that the Bills should draft Bradford or Claussen if they are there. Newsflash, Pennington is no longer starting QB material. I would take Fitzpatrick over Pennington at this point of their careers any day of the week. If Fitzpatrick doesn't play well enough, then Brohm is given the chance to start. If neither of them are the answer then Brown (4th, 5th rd pick) gets a shot. If Brown doesn't show enough potential then the Bills go QB in the first round of 2011. You can't have all the questions answered in one year. If the QBs aren't there then they should build up the lines and go with what they have for a year. McNabb is NOT coming here, that's a pipe dream. McNabb will either play for the Eagles or be granted his wish to play for a team that's playoff ready like the Cardinals or Vikings. The Eagles are not going to do McNabb bad like that and force him to play for the downtrodden Bills in a trade. Vick is a possibility that I threw out there but when it comes down to it, I don't really want him.
  7. ...and you are instantly transformed into a quivering bowl of jello.
  8. Fitzy threw three touchdowns in a blizzard in his last game this past season. Is he the future of the Bills? Probably not, but that doesn't mean he can't be a one year option with him competing for starting duties with Brohm. If the Bills fail to land Bradford or Claussen then they should concentrate on OL, DL and LB positions. It's either one direction or the other. I'm fine with the Fitzy/Brohm duo if it means they have built the foundation for the probable 2011 first round QB if they don't get one of the aforementioned first round QBs this year.
  9. You couldn't get a more uninspiring choice than Chad Pennington. Furthermore, if the source is right and they are considering him then this is officially first time I have to seriously question the intelligence of the new Bills' brain trust. The Bills starting QB must have a decent to strong arm, period. While Pennington has good accuracy his arm is so weak that the 13 year old kid Kiffin is trying to recruit can out throw him. If they don't get Bradford, Claussen or Vick the Bills should concentrate on building the foundation. They should then draft Jarrett Brown in the 5th round of the upcoming draft and let Fitzy and Brohm compete for the job. I don't see why this isn't a viable option. If neither of them pan out then the Bills will have had Brown (who throws a great ball) in their system for a year and still can go after their QB of the future in the first round of the 2011 draft if Brown is still a big project. This should be their board on draft day... 1st rd QB Bradford or Claussen if neither are there go OT 2nd rd DL 3rd rd LB 4th rd LB 5th rd Brown if OT in 1st I don't see why Fitzy and Brohm is such a bad deal for Bills fans. We all know that we either need a star QB or go with building the lines and new defensive system. I'm just as excited about who we can get with the non-QB first to fourth round picks. They will be the building blocks of a hopefully very bright Bills' future.
  10. You never answered my question, so I'll ask you once again... How is it possible that a man who's flying in celebrity chefs on the taxpayers dime, while the economy is in the tank, we're trillions of dollars in debt, and there are approximately 17 million people out of work, have the audacity to lecture anyone about fiscal responsibility? But it's ok for him to lecture congress because it's the right message? Obama has no ground to stand on. That's like wondering why people would criticize a John Edwards lecture to congress on why politicians should be morally responsible and hold true to their marriage vows.

  12. "This isn't how responsible families do their budgets. When times are tough, you tighten your belts. You don't go buying a boat when you can barely pay your mortgage. " His premise about "responsible families" is fraught with hypocrisy. While it's true to your point that he wasn't lecturing "responsible families" he was lecturing congress as the all knowing professor. As if he knows the struggles of everyday Americans. What part of this being the greatest economically tough times in American history since the Great Depression does this man not get? Because it's not his money that he's spending, it's ok to fly in celebrity chefs because of his high-end appetite? It's hard to imagine but in just one year this president has become a much bigger joke than Bush ever was, and given the results of the last three big elections in this country, it's clear that the America has finally had their "fill" of Obama and his high-end appetite.
  13. The Vegas jab was anecdotal to the main point of Obama being an unashamed hypocrite by lecturing Americans about how they should manage their money more responsibly. I thought my point was made crystal clear.
  14. ...off the backs of the people. First you put a hit on Vegas and talk to Americans like they're your children who need a scolding... http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/02/02...hits-nashua-nh/ "Finally, shouldn't we all agree that we have got to do something about our deficits? These deficits won't just burden our kids and grandkids decades from now - they could damage our markets, drive up our interest rates now, and jeopardize our recovery right now. This isn't how responsible families do their budgets. When times are tough, you tighten your belts. You don't go buying a boat when you can barely pay your mortgage. You don't blow a bunch of cash in Vegas when you're trying to save for college. You prioritize. You make tough choices. And it's time your government did the same." Then you tell them to eat cake... http://www.google.com/hostednews/canadianp...g_zZqP-tMM3DCFw "Think of it as take-out, but at the presidential level. Since bringing their well-documented high-end appetites to the White House, U.S. President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama have broken new gourmet ground by inviting in a steady stream of the nation's top culinary talents." It's so good to live like kings and queens... http://caffertyfile.blogs.cnn.com/2010/01/...enhagen/?hpt=T2 "Hundreds of thousands of dollars. That's how much it cost for a delegation of 59 people - led by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi along with members of Congress, staff and in some cases spouses and kids - to go to Copenhagen, site of the Climate Summit, just before Christmas. House Speaker Pelosi attends a press conference at the Copenhagen Climate Summit. CBS News reports that for 21 Congressmen, food and rooms for two nights cost $4,400; and the Total hotel bill - including meeting rooms - was more than $400,000. Pelosi used two military jets for herself and her party at a cost of more than $100,000 dollars in flight time."
  15. Game, set, match. A very good argument can be made that the worst draft for the Buffalo Bills was when they did not try to move up for one of the top three QBs in 2004. To think that there are fans here that would take a LB or OT over Sam Bradford is amazing to me. I think the Bills should think about trying to moving up ahead of Seattle to try and get him. Bradford can sit the whole year while they iron out the offensive line then get their OT in the 2011 draft if need be.
  16. He probably won't be there, but if he somehow falls to us, you take Bradford. The guy should be at the top of the Bills wish list and if he's not there they should go OT. I almost hope they think about trading up to get him. This team needs a QB above all other positions.
  17. ...and he's not even better than what we already have. What the heck is the difference between Thigpen and Fitzpatrick? Thigpen's last five starts: Completion 58% 5 touchdowns 5 interceptions 1031 passing yards Fitzpatrick's last five starts: Completion 59% 6 touchdowns 4 interceptions 763 passing yards They are the same QB people.
  18. I don't think Rex is that stupid, so the answer is no. All bets are off though if you cut him off on the Jersey Turnpike or the buffett line.
  19. What? If this happened during the season it would most certainly still be a topic today. NYC has moved onto baseball and ESPN and NFL network could care less about Rex Ryan since his team lost last week. Beat reporters and ESPN would be beating this thing to death if this was the middle of the season. Is it a big deal? No. But I do think that Ryan clearly has self control issues. Like dogs that chase cars, I don't think Rex Ryan is long for this job.
  20. This story was reported everywhere yesterday, including those sites that you listed, ESPN radio and the ESPN morning shows. The only reason it's hard to find now is because it's the week of the Superbowl. Not only that, it's media day at the Superbowl. He would have had to shoot somebody in the fight club for it to go into today. BTW, I never said it was a controversy, I said it was an embarrassing incident that Goodell and the Jets' boss are none too pleased about dealing with this week. Rex Ryan has officially been put on notice and depending on the severity, his next incident of baffoonery could be his last.
  21. But if he has a losing streak or if his players get into trouble off the field then this will be the first thing brought up. Loose cannon guys like this generally don't last long in huge corporations like the NFL and the age of the internet. What are the chances he eventually does or says something so stupid the Jets are forced to fire him? I say they are about 50-50.
  22. The story and/or problem for Ryan and now Goodell is that this was caught "on tape". There is a photo of an NFL head coach flipping the finger widely circulating the internet the week of the Superbowl. Is this a big story? No. But Goodell now has to worry about appearing soft on coaches bad behavior and there could also be an issue brought up by the Players Association of favoritism towards race if Ryan is given a slap on the wrist. Goodell has spent the last two years cracking down on bad behavior. Is it fair to equate gun charges to flipping the bird? Of course not, but the Players Association will use everything in their power to gain leverage in their pending new deal. Goodell needed this like a hole in the head and the Jet owner will have only so much patience for this kind of stuff. There's positive media in the media capital of the world, and then there's a giant picture of your head coach filpping the bird on the back pages of the newspapers. Ryan had better calm down because owners do not like to get embarrassed like that and he may have only a couple more of these incidents before he's fired.
  23. Don't worry so much, the Patriots haven't had a good draft since 2005. Other than Mayo, their recent bad drafts have left the cupboard almost bare. The Jets clearly have already past them as the best team in the division.
  24. Make no mistake, the NFL does NOT have a sense of humor about Rex's bird flipping getting caught on "tape". He's in the position of authority over 53 men in a league that has had serious image problems the last few years. Though it may seem harmless, the photo is all over the internet and is a huge embarrassment to a league and specifically Goodell during Superbowl week. The NFL Player's Association is going to be keeping a real good eye on what punishment is dealt out to Rex. Is it fair to compare a bird flip to a fight or illegal weapons charges? No, but should Roger count on them not doing so? Now THAT is a funny one!
  25. And you're correlating a fan's behavior with a head coach's behavior because......????? Sorry, but that reply is nonsense. I never said I was offended, I said it is a very embarrassing incident for a man in his position. You don't get too many "my bads" when you're a head coach in the NFL. I league that is seriously cracking down hard on any whiff of bad behavior.
