and I dont think george will figure it out until he has a 200 million dollar payroll and a 50 win season. -

I agree with TE. Not so sure with safety as I think baker might be good. And with vincent and milloy, i dont know its a need quite yet. In a year or two yes, this year...probably not. Maybe another UDFA. -

While replacing posey would be okay, he is a decent LB. However we have NO DEPTH. Crowell or stamer? Come on. If spikes or fletch went down we would be in big trouble. -

This is getting ridiculous. I am a die-hard yankees fan, and have been my entire life, yes i was a fan even during the jesse barfield/danny tartabull era. This is the problem. The yankees are not a team anymore. They are a bunch of superstars who try to buy into the new york system (no pun intended). In the end, the majority of these guys do not know what it means to be a yankee. Derek Jeter knows. Bernie Williams Knows. Mariano Rivera and Orlando Hernandez know. Perhaps Posada and Matsui know, but thats about it. Sheffield doesnt get it, nor does A-Rod or Giambi. though in fairness, A-Rod is coming around. The old yankees teams (and by old i mean ~ 5 years ago), were comprised of a bunch of guys who knew what it meant to put on the pinstripes. Paul O'Neil, Andy Pettite, Roger Clemens were character guys, and although some may have come in as free agents, they knew the name on the front of the jersey meant a whole lot more than the name on the back. In the old days the yankees developed talent. At one point they had the best minor league system in baseball. I know because I watched them daily at their AA facility in Albany. These players dreamed of being yankees. And when they finally made the show, they played with pride and determination and accomplished great things. A few pieces were plugged in here and there and the puzzle was competed. Contrast todays team. This current group collects big paychecks, but they dont get what they are fighting for. They come to new york as free agents for the big cash. The team trades away prospect after prospect for old washed up veterans, leaving them a depleated minor league system, one of the worst in baseball. Then they go out and spend big bucks on players like Giambi and Sheffield, who If i had my way would not even be on the roster. I would still rather have soriano than a-rod, and I dont want to see posada or, although I dont like him either, Vazquez, traded for Randy Johnson, and certainally dont give up.eric duncan to do it. Its time to start over mr. steinbrenner. Its time to reclaim your dominace at the minor league levels and develop your own stars again. Teach them what being a true yankee is about. Let Don Mattingly coach AAA or AA ball. Dont toss true yankees aside like yesterdays trash. Players like Pettite and Soriano, though now wearing differnet uniforms ARE yankees, and will forever be yankees (unless they defect someday to the enemy, but I dont see them doing it unless to spite george). I speak only for myself, but I am sure many other yankees fans feel the same way. This current squad is missing the "IT factor", and that is because they do not realize what it means to wear pinstripes. -
I heard michael irvin on i think dan patricks radio show, and he said he was interviewing willis for this weeks pre-game show. Just thought I would let everyone konw if you didnt know already.

It's time to extend Tom Donahoe

And for those of you complaining about the 2002 draft, take a look at it. http://ww2.nfl.com/draft/2002/round/round1.html What an ugly draft that was! -

Oh, one more thing. Had we kept the #14 pick in 2003, we would have likely taken either: DE Micheal Haynes (27 games (career) 42 tackes, 4 sacks) Or DE Jerome McDougle (16games 19 tackles, 1 sack.) Now, do either of them do anything for you? I'd almost rather have bledsoe. -

Perhaps many are "drinking the kool-aid" as you say, but I think this is the setiment that was out there to start the season. We always thought this team was close to greatness, but the first half of the season had us doubting TD, MM and the entire team. What we are seeing now is IMO, a return to where we thought we would be at this point. The losman trade was not an "embarassing fleece job". Okay, so say we kept that first rounder. Now today we have only drew and shane matthews and some other random do-nothing third string guy. We would desperatly need someone to take over for drew. We go into this draft looking for a QB with a mid-round selection. Who do you take? Mel Kipers Big board of the top 25 draft eligible prospects includes ONE quarterback (charie frye of akron). Now who would you rather have? Honestly. Perhaps Leinert and Aaron Robers come out, but they will be top 5 picks, and we wouldnt have a chance at them anyway. The drew blesdoe trade was, at the time, a great trade. We absolutley needed to get a good quarterback here, and drew was left high and dry in new england. The way drew played that first season here shows this was not a bad trade. The decline was unexpected and somewhat unexplainable. But one thing this trade did was re-energize the demoarlized fanbase who was about to see the team with AVP as its starter. Also, it showed the league we were making good strides to be competitive, and im sure this move (and others like it), contributed to the signing of guys like takeo spikes. The extension...Well...our hands were kinda tied. I didnt like it either, but on one hand we pay the guy a huge signing bonus and activate the rest of his 100 million dollar contract, or we cut him in november (which with the wya he was playing, might not have been a bad option at that point). The other thing you have to remember is that drew knows his time is limited here, and he still chose to sign an extension for a year he will probably be on the bench. This shows class and character, and he isnt a terrible backup either! All in all, im happy with the personnel we have on this team. As you pointed out, our defense is getting up there in years and some of our young guys (clements) are coming up on FA here soon. My fear is that by the time the O comes around, the D will look like Kansas Citys... But at least thats more exciting football to watch than what we saw the first 9 weeks. -
These prisco ratings are CRAP. Not only is seattle ranked ahead of us (which i could get over by itself), but they MOVED UP A SPOT from #14 to #13 after being blown out 38-9!!! Amazing

10-6 and no playoffs would be okay in my book after the way we started and ended. I would rather go out winning 6 in a row than go out geting blown out in indy.

Oh, my mistake.... Come on man... Clinton Portis...17 yards Jamal Lewis.....62 yards Rudi Johnson..yes 123 the first time, 62 the 2nd time I dont know about you, but those are some pretty good backs held to pretty bad numbers. Other RBs this year: Lee Suggs...30 and 38 yards, respectively Westbrook...17 yards Eddie George...28 yards L. Henry....41 yards Wheatley...24 yards Bottom line. They are allowing ONLY 75 YARDS PER GAME on the ground. To put that in perspective, we all know how good buffalos run defense is and they are allowing 97 yards per game! I am not saying willis will not put up good numbers against their D. BUT....their run defense is second to none. Combine that with the bad weather that is expected in january, and its a RUNNING game. It will come down to how well duece/bettis match up against our D, versus WM going against Pitt's D. Matchups are never that simple, but you cant just dismiss that amazing work pittsburghs defense has done against the run this season.

If only Reese put his hand up and defleted that pass vs. jax. If only the travis TD was reviewed in week 2. If only we didnt allow the big play and lose to a last minute field goal against the jets. If...And...But....I know we play the games for a reason, but realistically, we could easilly be 8-3 right now had 3 plays in our season gone the other way, and all 3 of those plays we had the power to stop. -
Problem with this logic.... No team has been able to rush against the steelers either. So the game will be riding completely on DREW. And I am sure drew will know what hit him because it happens often. Though I have to give him props today.

You think Parcells is saying ah stevestojan?

With the way julius jones is running, i dont think he is concerned with not drafting steven jackson -
I dont know. There is a strong possibility, should they go, that they will play utah. As someone once said, "hard work beats talent when talent doesnt work hard" I never rule out ANY team on a single game basis.
-
No, its not...but that doesnt change the fact that should the cuse go to a BCS bowl it will be the biggest game in at least recent history for them.
-
While I would be okay firing Pasq. today IS NOT THE DAY, and this runmor posted that IS NOT TRUE. Syracuse is tied for the big east lead. IF pit loses to south florida (unlikely, but aways possible), syracuse most likely goes to a BCS BOWL!!!! A BCS Bowl. Yes you are reading that right. A flaw in the system allowing the big east to maintain an auto bid might allow syracuse at 6-5 to make a BCS Bowl. Certainally Syracuse will not fire Pasq before the team plays in their bigest bowl game in years (if not ever). Expect this announcement, should it ever come, after syracuse plays in its bowl game this season, and certainally not before Pittsburgh takes on South Florida.

It wont be us. 1) he doesnt fit our mold. 2) why start ANOTHER rb controversey If TD is replaced this idea will gain more credibility, but until then...

These are not photoshopped.... I took the first 2 from yahoo news articles and saved them on my hard drive. I could no longer find them on yahoo, but i found them on these other links. The third one, i think i also got from yahoo news, but I cannot say for certain. These are NOT photoshopped, but real pictures. Regardless, even if they were photoshopped, they woudl still be funny. -
Evidently you forgot about the eminem post...and they payton manning post... Hey Kettle. I'm Pot. You're black.

hahaha....absolutly amazing. While we are at it, lets see what lawrence phillips and dimitrius underwood are up to...

No. We would need a RB....but not with our first pick (if he falls that far),. Also, the bills have a history of staying away from troubled players. Ralph likes to have a character team full of good guys. Clarett doesnt fit the bills mold.
