  1. Edwards found Parrish just fine on the TD and over the middle on the winning FG drive .... besides, Hardy and Parrish are so different it's a moot point ... they almost play different positions. Parrish is at his best in the slot and Hardy is much better outside. Oh yeah ... go IUP!!
  2. The best part is that he has done this before and did not learn his lesson ... I can't find a YouTube clip of it, but in the Army All-American game when he was in high school, in January of 2005, the moron was running down the sideline and decided to do a cartwheel into the end zone with the ball in his hand. Except the hand with the ball in it landed OUTSIDE the endzone and he just left it there at the 1-yard line. They gave him the touchdown on that play, but you'd think he'd learn his lesson. I'll keep looking for video.
  3. As othrs have mentioned, i actually think the Bills have been mentioned a good amount as a contender since the Brady injury. Before that, yeah, the Jets were getting too much respect just because of Favre ... but from that opening rant you'd think that media coverage=more wins or something. Who cares? As long as they keep winning, that crap will come eventually. Like it or not, there ARE more Jets and Pats fans in the world, so they are going to get more coverage. Add in all the Favre fans in the midwest ... the media is just giving their audience what it wants right now. Buffalo is a small market and it is ONE GAME ... to complain now is like some guy who won the Libertarian Party Primary nomination (is there such a thing?) complaining that Obama and McClain get too much press. What did you expect? Win something that matters and people will pay attention. Atlanta, Baltimore and Arizona are all 1-0 too ... and I'm sure we all think they still suck.
  4. Honestly ... he handled that WAY better than I expected. I don't like how he has handled the whole situation, but the guy stood up and faced the questions today. I am not excusing the last 7 months, I still do not like it, but now it is out of the way and he can get back to football. Frankly, I wish Lynch had done the same thing on the first day of camp ... it's 5 minutes of uncomfortable-ness and then you get on with your life. Lynch still has his deal hanging over his head into the season because he has never talked about it. As for who owes whom or who picked whom, I am sure he did have other offers out of college ... to suggest that he would be out of football if not for the Bills is a stretch. Once it gets to the 7th round, a lot of guys are better off NOT being drafted so they can pick the situation best for them. At the same time, for him to say he wants to stay because he "picked the Bills" is silly too. If he had said he wanted to stay because he is close with his teammates and likes it here, that would make more sense. But whatever, the kid was obviously nervous and just wanted the whole thing over with before he had to think of another way to talk around the fact it was all about money. I'll cut him some slack on that. Like I said, he earned a little respect back just by facing the music.
  5. Yes, it is ... I know it HAD to be someone from the Giants, but given that the Jets signed Pace for 6yrs/$42 million, Mitchell is a huge bargain .... Pace may be better, but he ain't twice as good ...
  6. Not to pile on, because I think bills_fan started to see our point in his last post ... but Don Banks wrote this today on SI.com ... The bold part is exactly right, and would also apply to the idea of trading for him. What kind of example is that for a young team?
  7. I hear ya ... I guess after the Bledsoe/Milloy/Vincent/Donahoe Era I am just very gun shy to the idea of trying to find a quick fix.
  8. Great ... well as long as we can somehow play with someone else's offense to go with our championship defense, I guess I will agree with you. EDIT: and I DO agree about the defense, i think it is playoff caliber this year.
  9. What if there are only :33 seconds left? Can I change my answer? How about if they are on our 12 yard line, not the 7? Sorry, I know I am being overly sarcastic but you are assuming a LOT setting up that scenario ... not the least of which is where the hell do you see New England losing 5 games on that schedule? Yeah, taylor would make the defense better, but a lot of other things are way too up in the air to go handing out first-round picks. While we are making up scenarios, what if you make the deal and Edwards bombs? Or gets hurt? And now you are looking for your QB of the future and have no first-round pick? That's just as likely to happen as your scenario above.
  10. So jason taylor is the only thing standing between the Bills and the playoffs? Really? Sorry but unless you can convince me beyond a shadow of a doubt that this will be a playoff-caliber offense RIGHT NOW (here's a hint: you can't), then there's no point giving away a first round pick for a guy with 1 or 2 years left.
  11. The Bills made this deal once before ... it was the Drew Bledsoe deal. He played well at first, but the rest of the team was not ready to be anything more than 8-8. Then his play declined. This would play out much the same way ... even if Taylor accepted it and showed up to play a part-time role rushing the passer, it's unlikely he is the missing piece to a Super Bowl run. In a couple years when maybe the talent and experience is there for that, he will be too old to contribute and the Bills will have helped rebuild their biggest rival.
  12. He's arguing with himself ... he says "Just because management keeps reminding us they intend to keep Losman as the backup quarterback, it’s suddenly the best thing that could happen to the team? " Well, no, not the BEST thing Jerry, no one said THAT. It's just not the end of the world. the BEST thing would be for Edwards to be healthy and effective and then the backup is a non-factor.
  13. Yeah, if you ignore the 175 carries that were designed runs better suited for Mike Alstott, he's very much like Kelly. And I wish I was being sarcastic ... he COULD be a lot like Kelly, but he takes a beating and if you take that part of his game away we really don't know if he can be like Kelly.
  14. I like Tebow but have serious questions about how his game translates to the NFL ... he is a good-not-great passer at this point, he plays strictly out of the shotgun in an offense very different from NFL systems, and he's more of a fullback than a scrambler when he runs. His game is not Flutie/Vince Young-esque where he makes things happen with his legs when nothing is there ... his rushing yards come on designed runs, mostly between the tackles. He is 6-3 and does have a strong arm, so perhaps he could be successful, but he'll get killed in the NFL if anyone tries to run him as much as Florida does. And that's what makes him special in college.
  15. That is pretty bad considering his story has been big national news ... although in his defense, the Bills official site still has Everett on the ACTIVE roster ... probably need to clarify that at some point. maybe the guy thought it was REALLY a miraculous recovery and he was going to try to play again.
  16. That's what I'm saying. Fine could be just, well, fine. Just because they don't have Antonio Gates does not make it a HUGE gaping hole that will torpedo the season. Let's not over-think it - at the end of the day, the season will come down to how Edwards plays, period. If you get good QB play, you win. If David Garrard can throw 17 TDs and only 3 INTs with nothing special at TE and very average receivers, Edwards can have a good season without a new, flashy TE and a decent group of WRs. Another weapon would be nice I guess, but they got him another weapon in Hardy and really they did not get all they could out of their biggest weapon, Evans. Tight end is icing on the cake, let's see if we actually have the cake. That's on Edwards.
  17. Still waiting for someone to explain to me why a team with Lynch, Evans, Hardy and two legit slot receivers NEEDS an explosive tight end SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO badly. the Kansas City and San Diego offenses are centered around TEs because their receivers suck. And oh yeah, they have never won anything either. IF (granted, it's still an IF) the other Bills weapons play to their ability, they need nothing more than a reliable guy who can block and catch it when it is thrown to him, even if it is only 8 -10 yard passes 3 times a game.
  18. Maybe I am nuts but if the rest of the offense plays well the tight end doesn't need to be much of a factor anyway. If Lynch is getting his 20-25 carries, plus a couple catches, and the backup RB (Wright/Jackson/whoever) gets a few touches, and Evans catches 5-7 balls per game like he should with a legit #2 WR, and Hardy gets 3-5 catches per game, and Reed and Parrish grab 5-7 combined out of the slot where they are at their best ... there's not much left for the tight end anyway. Granted, I'd love a guy who is reliable so we can stop with the revolving door, but maybe Fine can be that guy. If he blocks well and can catch 3 balls for 30 yards and a couple first downs ... I'll take that. Everyone wants a more explosive guy but if that guy was not there I'd rather they not reach for him at a position where an average guy touches it 3 times a game and a GREAT guy touches it 5 times a game. Again, all this assumes Hardy makes the desired impact ... but if that does not happen, there was no tight end in the draft that was going to help much anyway, especially after the 3rd round.
  19. I DON'T think thsi team is all that great ... again, that's kind of my point. Are we really at the point where we can say "Eh, we're SO much better that we can give up a divisional home game against a warm-weather opponent in December"??? I don't think so ... every game is going to be huge if this team wants to get into the playoffs, just like last season.
  20. Again, they already sold it. maybe down the road it needs to be a decent game, but this year, for the first regular season game in Canada, it was selling out regardless. Also, you are making my point if it is because of all the Fish fans up there ... how do you move a DIVISION game to a venue where you lose your home-field advantage (not to mention the dome factor which makes a HUGE difference given the way Miami usually plays in bad weather in the Ralph.)
  21. They don't need a marquee opponent to market the game in Toronto ... they had 100,000 people on the list for tickets before the schedule came out. Besides it's not like Miami has a marquee player to market right now ... if it was New England I'd still be pissed it is a division game but at least I could understand a bit, wanting to put a big start like Brady in the first game there. Are people flocking to see John Beck?
  22. I can't speak to Thomas in this regard, but my boss is very close with the Texas program and Limas Sweed is apparently a lazy ass ... last thing we need is another dog like Mike Williams from that program.
  23. Wait you guys can't have it both ways ... if you want to talk about the history, then the rivalry with Miami is indeed a factor. San Francisco is not bringing Montana and Rice to town. if people have a choice, they are going to buy tickets to see Miami, that is my point. And again, it is a DIVISION game ... those should not be part of the Toronto package, in my opinion.
  24. Aside from the rivalry aspect, the fact is it is a division game. Sure Miami sucked last year but even if they are bad again, the game could still matter to the Bills ... there are all kinds of tiebreakers where division and conference record matter. It's an absolute joke that they would have them play that kind of game outside their home stadium while playing a relatively meaningless game against an equally crappy NFC team at home the week before. Not to mention the fact that the Dolphins DO still draw people because of the rivalry while NFC teams traditionally do not draw well ... there is no excuse for it.
  25. Actually it was Curtis Brown in 1978 ... and it was definitely not Al Edwards' only NFL touchdown, that same year he caught about a 50-yarder from Kelly against the Bears ...
