  1. I remember a young Eric Moulds making a play to set up the game-tying FG to force OT that game against the Colts thinking: "Why don't we play this guy more?" Kelly definitely was not ready to come back for the Miami game - he was awful. Although just before the Buckley INT, the refs did call a Bush League Intentional Grounding penalty after Kelly simply threw the ball out of the back of the endzone - which happens about every game without ever a flag.
  2. You sort of argued with yourself what I was going to say. To me it's not GM-speak at all. It's unusually candid; especially compared to John Butler's vagueness when he was taking questions from fans on Empire. As for JP's play - dunno - didn't see the game. There were really 5 drops in the 1st half?
  3. Didn't they need an illegal handball to beat us last time in the final 8? And wasn't that after the U.S. beat Mexico AGAIN? I confess to being an anti-soccer person, but I do beccome a quasi-fan in international play just because it's so amusing to beat these countries who despise the U.S. so deeply and whose entire lives revolve around the game while we're playing our country's 4th rate athletes (no offence to anybody who plays). I mean really - it's hilarious.
  4. I hope you guys kick the crap out of Michigan.
  5. Yummy, gimme the Bills -4.5 NE -7.5 vs. Oakland - Stupid Moss hype probably changed the line about 3 pts. Pittsburgh -7 vs. Tennessee - I don't plan on laying points with an overrated Steelers team very often this year, but I will here. Baltimore +3 vs. Indy - Colts laying this much vs. a good D on the road? NYJ +3 @ KC - Jest a solid road team, Chefs D takes a while to jell, and I'm getting points. Oh yeah - gambling, I mean football season's back.
  6. Yeah, got to win. I was ridiculed last year for saying that about the Jacksonville game last year. You can rationalize the counter-argument all you want: "Jacksonville/Houston is going to be good this year", "if we won the Pittsburgh game it wouldn't have mattered".....whatever. The bottom line is we put ourselves in a position where we had to win like 8 games in a row. Was Jacksonville better than people predicted they'd be last year? Yeah. At the end of the day though, it doesn't really matter because they were nowhere near as good as the Patriots, or the Jets, or anybody else that we need to beat to ever reach the promise-land. I really don't care how "surprising" or "frisky" Houston may be this year. You have to beat the Houstons and the Jacksonvilles of the world at home if you want to make the playoffs in the AFC East and that's not negotiable.
  7. Yeah, it's right up there with shocking stats such as: "A-Rod has been in the majors for 10 years" that can make a guy in his mid 20's feel old. I'm pretty indifferent about the 2-pointer. Coaches who use it before the 4th Qtr are pretty dumb and generally deserve what they get.
  8. LSU plays in Baton Rouge - Huge outdoor stadium with numbers every 5 yards. I would imagine the Saints would play there.
  9. Parrish is the slot guy. I don't understand signing a bust to stink up the field for those 2-3 weeks Roscoe's out. Can't Josh Reed do that?
  10. Yeah, worthless thankless job. Precisely why I've always advocated just hiring the hottest looking chicks. I mean, Michelle Tafoya seems like she's pretty smart. In fact, she's almost TOO good at what she does. What good is a sideline reporter if you can't make fun of her stupidity and her stumbling over cue cards?
  11. Is it OK if I insert a generic "Butch Davis personnel evaluation/drafting skills" joke or try to come up w/ something original?
  12. I don't think it's going to be an easy game, but after looking at our brutal schedule this year, I am considering taking the Bills in the Suicide Pool opening day.
  13. I don't want to start a Manning/Brady argument, but any post that doesn't say either one of them is absurd.
  14. You just threw in the "$71" so that people would believe you, right? I mean, if you had said "I got them free" nobody would believe you and anyone who did would want to kill you.
  15. I've said it before I'll say it again: It's going to be the Rams game of last year. Overrated NFC team in our stadium....As unpredictable as the Bills have been lately, do they ever NOT win these games? I'm tellin ya - if we lose to Tampa in Week 2 I'm not ashamed to admit I'll find a silver lining for gambling purposes pertaining to the following week.
  16. He didn't call him a racist. He just said Kent doesn't know how to interact with blacks, which - regardless of whether or not that's true - is not nearly as serious of an accusation. People blew up Rush Limbaugh's comments the same way, when all he was doing was accusing the media of affirmative action regarding the publicity of black QB's. He may not have been right, but it shouldn't have been such a big controversy.
  17. I completely disagree. When I'm leaving work 2nd to last before my black coworker I'll say stuff like: "I'm gonna bounce" or "Peace". I will think afterwords: "what the hell did I just say? I never talk like that". But then I'll realize that there's nothing to feel guilty about unless you're a hyper-sensitive Race Card Expert because it's totally natural and most people are like this whether they realize it or not - they're just adapting to their environments. If you think that's "condescending" then you're sort of implying that the black culture is inferior, so maybe I'm not the one with the race problem.
  18. Fixed your post
  19. The radio jocks in Philly are already declaring their defense to be better than the '02 Bucs. If that's the case they're a lock to win the Bowl. I personally don't see it - but you're right the offenses they face in their division are putrid. In no particular order I'd put the Bills in the top 4 with Baltimore, NE (until proven otherwise - I don't care who they lost), and Washington. I'll put P'burgh, Carolina, Philly, NYJ, and maybe Jax, Tampa & Chicago in the next tier. Maybe I'm underrating the Steelers - I dunno - it seems they're good every other year and I still think their secondary is vulnerable vs. a decent QB.
  20. Yeah, that's valid too. Huh? We only played them once during those years and beat them in their house towards the end of '92 20-16.
  21. I've actually thought that the K-Gun was never quite the same since Denver blitzed the hell out of us in the '91 title game. I mean, Pete Metzelars was our leading WR in '93. I don't know if those Dolphin teams had the personnel to stop us no matter what kind of gameplan they came up with though. The '92 title game spanking in Miami certainly wasn't won with our offense anyway.
  22. That's true - you wouldn't be able to tell he's a former player, as he mostly sounds like a fan stating the obvious and he never really brings any insightful X's & O's to the table. Then again - neither does any other analyst outside of the 'Edge NFL Matchup' crew; so I guess he's preferable to the 95% of analysts who say nothing of consequence and don't seem like as nice of guys.
  23. What about Hess? I always knew there was a connection between the Jets and the terrorists.
